Lyndon Johnson, His National Security Advisor and His Secretary of Defense Say All

“Pakistan has a 400, 000 standing army. funny thing most of the army is on the indian border with kashmir. Why not send at least 200000 of their troops to the afghan pakistan border. makes no sense.”

“people luck focus. I have been saying the same thing. Iraq was on the agenda soon after bush was elected. and then suddenly everyone seems to focus on WMDs...instead of actually focusing on the decision to go into iraq was being planned way before 9-11..but then again this is the american public u talking to.”

“Here's the difference. Vietnam was an on-going civil war where (at least) half the country was for communism
and we couldn't do anything about that.
If news reports can be believed, and that's a big if I know, only 6% of Afghans support the Taliban.
The vast majority fear Taliban rule. So...
can we win their hearts and minds, strengthen their country to be self sufficient, and make the
Taliban inconsequential?”

“Not everyone. The last war I saw any justification for was WWII. And if we had engaged the Japanese, instead of cutting off their oil supplies in July of 1941, we probably could have avoided that one too. Hitler might have been a little harder to deal with.”

“Kucinich would have done the same thing. Its easy to spout things when u are not president. If Kucinich was president i bet u he would not pull out. So i dont take people who are not in position of responsibility serious. Kucinich is not presdient. When he becomes president he will have a better understanding of the political, military and foreign issues he has to deal with”

Obama Online -- What's the Future of Organizing for America (OFA)?

Commented Nov 03, 2009 at 15:38:21 in Technology

“What really is a lost opportunity is that Virginia, new jersey and ny-23 could have benfited from OFA if it were not a tool of the DNC. Plouffe could have mobilized OFA memebers to assist in these campaigns. What a waste. OFA is being run by the same old politics of doing things. OFA should have beeen left as its own entity mobilizing the 13m floks to one common cause..electing dems in local areas. But it appears there was no effeort to mobilize Obamas brigades in these areas. OFA was put to bed when it was take over by DNC.”

Is This as Good as It Gets From Obama?

Commented Nov 02, 2009 at 23:48:41 in Politics

“I think there is a big misconception about democratic majorities. We need to understand that democrats come in varieties..u have the liberal dems, progressive dems and conservative dems. So not all dems share the same interests thats why it is a misconception to think that since dems have majorities not all dems think alike. The democtaric party is more tolerent to divergent views and thats why u have candidates who are not beholden to either extremes running on democratic tickets. The democratic part is so to speak a big tent. And this is the way of the future. With the republicans u have one culture..right wing republicans who all share the same believes and follow the same script but times are chnaging. Every 10 years the demographics of the country keep changng. They are not static.
Take for instance gay issues 20 years ago both parties would not even touch gay issues. But look whats happening. How many states are now having gay marriage on their ballots. U can tell there is a tolerable change toward gay issues where 20 years ago it was considered taboo to even talk of gay issues which were always relagte to the periphery. But look how powerful the gay coalition has become. In 10 years gay marriage will become federal law. . Its just that times have changed and republicans need to move with the times and not the america of the past which they wish they could go back to.”

kape replied on Nov 03, 2009 at 00:46:52

“40 senators can represent an awfully, awfully small portion of the population -- and most of that population is used to being bought off with various subsidies that have become so institutionalized that people don't remember to think of them as the government largess that it is. So the populations of the blocking states' senators feel that the rest of the country can make it on their own. This is a big flaw in the Constitution as it is applied to the 21st century, with such huge swings in the state populations.... surprised this isn't discussed more. The Senate filibuster rules aggravate the situation horribly.”

Marcospinelli replied on Nov 03, 2009 at 00:17:11

“"In 10 years gay marriage will become federal law".
===============================

Not unless there is a Constitutional amendment. Constitutionally, marriage is the domain of states.

Prediction is a dangerous sport. Never in a million years would I have predicted the extreme rightwing swing this country took post-Watergate. Never would I have predicted that the Democratic Party would have been infiltrated and taken over by Republican-minded people calling themselves Democrats, who would succeed in pushing through a pro-corporate agenda that would destroy the middle class.

We're in serious trouble, and with these current politicians, America as we've known it is gone, forever.”

“Bush photo ups..Bush was so eager to be flown in a jet wearing fatigues, trying to look cute and landing on a carrier claiming mission accomplished. But did not want to be seen with family members who lost loved ones..i guess he did not want people to see the uneccessary war he sent these troops who sacrficed for nothing.
Obamas photo up...makes us realize the heavy cost of war. Brings attention to the nation that its not just sending troops to fight there is a heavy price to pay.”
