“Yes - well after all it is all about being fair and decent to the criminals or those that do not abide by laws or decency -- forget the victim.
I mean - the deed is already done so they cannot be helped so the pansy legal system gets more concerned on how the abuser is treated. Good ole US justice?? Probably give him a tv, laptop, complete library, free meals, oh likely a gym program too -- all the things many honest, law abiding people cannot get.”

“WOw!! who would have thought Limestone County Alabama would have been such a hot-bed of touchy-feely excuse the poor put up convict....
I wonder, perhaps there might be other factors more culturally relevant to Limestone County Alabama. that's Limestone County, Alabama, NOT Westchester County New York,”
“Those dogs getting out of the wire crates are being put in danger. Those crates have 2 closures, on top and on bottom. the owners obviously did not close the bottom ones. I have heard over the years of dogs getting their heads out and getting stuck, they panic and literally strangle themselves!! Be aware people of how safe or not your dogs are!”
“WOW Imagine I grew up on Long Island in the 50 - 60 - 70;s and we had a VOLUNTEER Fire Dept. A very small fee was paid each year for upkeep of the trucks, equipment, and building it was housed in. Every weekend, used or not the volunteers gathered at the building and washed and checked the condition of the truck and equipment. Now there are so many laws and regulations it would seem impossible for there to be volunteers anymore.
UNLESS the private company can prove these people refused the service how are they to be believed that that happened. IT seems few knew aoubt their service and obviously in this case it was not even needed as the towns fire depat had already responded.
This service is what lawyers would call "ambulance chasers" they hear the report of a fire, were not contacted to respond as the city already did that...then they show up after all the hard work and danger is over and do the sweep up?? I am thinking this whole company and their files need to be investigated as it seems like a scam. Needs to be regulated most of all. I would not pay that bill until I presented my case to a attorney”
“Yes many came over to be able to practice the religion of their choice. BUT while you extol how wonderful this beginning was for those white people that came over to be able to choose their own personal way to celebrate their god -- what about how they condemned the Indian races for not believing in a Christian god? HHmm yes freedom of religion but kind of one sided, my way or the highway.
With all the various churches, beliefs, gods, etc in the USA nowadays We do need to keep religion separate obviously not everyone believe in one god, or the same god, and certainly not in the same way!”

“It is interesting to see how reluctant we are to acknowledge that some religions are superior to others. Because our politically correct climate has made us so thin-skinned we are scared to say that the Mayan, Aztec, and Incan religions (which practiced human sacrifice) were barbaric and evil. We disparage the Christians that led to so many native peoples abandoning superstitions, human sacrifice, self-mutilation, while thinking 'all religions are basically the same' and 'no culture is inferior to another.' Neither is true, but our closed-minded marketplace is only open to criticism of Christianity.”
“Sorry One of the basic beliefs we have is separation of church and state and that includes schools. This man, pastor or not, was given a job that has specific rules and he had been told before to keep his religion separate from his job. IF he cannot do so then he needs to get another job, one where they are accepting of his desire to pray to the masses. He was in reality fired for not following the directions and requests to cease this action by his employer.
If his desire is to share his beliefs with children then he needs to create a time and place to do so with the permission of each child's parent. It is NOT his place to chose what children should learn in regards to religion...it is a very individual matter. NO ONE would support this man if his prayers were in support of the Koran, or even if he was Jewish and they were neither of these beliefs.
He was given several chances to cease and chose not to so it is he himself that is responsible for the loss of his job. This is news only because it is about religion, If it were about an employee served several letters to stop some behavior at work no one would have even noticed.
Separation of state and church in a country that is as diverse as the USA is, is needed. Just look at the countries where religion rules the land...”

“Last year our local school started having a weekly chapel program that was conducted during a free period. It was done with the goal of improving citizenship by teaching character lessons: courage, respect, honesty, perseverance, etc. It is led by local pastors. It was approved and cleared by the school system attorney. Attendance was voluntary. Lessons are taught through stories, skits, games, and special speakers: police, military, firemen, athletes, and judges. No theology or religious teaching is done. At the end of the program, students can stay if they wished for a few minutes of prayer. Attendance at this has grown weekly. Even though the students can have that time outside, on computers, or studying. Teachers report behavior is much better. And pastors have reported that many of these children and their families are now showing up at church on Sundays!! Praise the Lord !! Parents praise the program and even say that their children are now behaving better at home. No one has complained and not one law has been broken.”

“I believe he didn't have to separate his religion from his job if he had just kept it from being so overt. For instance, suppose once he received the first notice of complaint he stopped praying with the children and instead prayed before getting on the bus or after sitting in the bus before turning it on? He would have been able to keep his job. A quick 2 minute prayer wouldn't even be noticed. The children would have no complaints so the parents would have no complaints..then the employers would have been satisfied. He just chose to act upon his religion in a way that interfered with his job.
One of the things the Bible says about prayer is that praying publicly is unnecessary...making the point that doing anything for ostentatious reasons is not good but selfish. It also says there's point in babbling on, that prayers can be just as effective if they're concise. So a quick "Good morning, God. Protect these children. Let me be a good example" just to himself would have been enough.
I agree with you about creating a time/place w/ consent of the parents. Seems to me that praying wasn't the real point here, that he wants to teach and mold...and that's fine...but like you said (and the Bible echoes), there is a time for everything. And he picked a really poor time.”
“um Nada, no, nope, no way, -- A LOT of support?? 30,000 is a lot? Heck population of Santa Barbara alone is 90,000....how the heck does 30K become a lot of support, unless it is spousal support? He was so bad the first time around and that was just in California where it is okay to be weird (like being on stage and strumming a broom at gatherings???) He was a lousy Governor he would be a horrible choice for the party for 2016. Even his movies are only so so and liked for the body builder physique and action but certainly not for the acting! Take your retirement and enjoy it Arnold, spend quality time with your youngest son”
“Perhaps we Americans should hold these guys in Congress, no phone calls, no outside influences, no going home to a comfy and well paid for rest until they settle this. I agree - they let their actions be controlled by a groups score..no matter how important that is to them HOW could it be more important then defaulting on the American public??
Time to get rid of some of these people that at this point hold us hostage”
“A man like this who has already served his country and fellow soldiers and still has that strong desire to continue to do so IS rare. It is people like this that I would like to see serving us as citizens in political office.”
“To Jim Riva the first who says "And neither did the republicans......They BOTH did......Be reasonable, you know in your heart, I'm right. "
UUmm in MY heart I know that the Republicans have been bragging, boasting and preening about how they are not going to vote to allow this health act no matter what. Take away not just their coverage but their EXCLUSIVE private room the best of the best Doctors for a year and see how they think. Not only do we pay for their health care but we allow them to be treated by some of the most expensive hospitals and doctor to be hound n the USA.
Both parties hold some degree of blame but this was a planned action by the Republican that not only affects federal workers but all those waiting in line to be able to sign up for health care.
Let them keep their salaries ONLY for the terms they work - not once they leave just because they played politics. BUT give US their health care and they can have ours!”
“OK HuffPost It is official - I am leaving you for Yahoo when it comes to the news. This is a trashy family that really does nothing to be so famous. They depend on your service in particular to stay in front of everyones faces. A whole article on a skirt?? Like there are not prettier ladies that "rock" a skirt? She looks extra trashy here and I only write as a protest to all the articles every day by you. I am tired of seeing this family in your news section everyday when they do absolutely nothing, no entertainment, nothing. So off to Yahoo for my morning read for news from now on”
“Are you really that dense to think Russian is not a substantial power and still a potential threat to our country? WHO says they are not considered a threat as a world power? We are looked at a lot different from how we see ourselves to those that live outside of the USA.. WE are the ones that are being considered to have lost our recognition as a immensely powerful nation as we are so divided internally that other countries no longer see us as they did back in the last century. Sad to think that many of our youth of today no longer want to serve - let others do it instead. The patriotism of the past is just that - of the past. While other countries now have fanatics and even children willing to go to war to defend their countries. We should always be worried about Russia...especially with its vastly growing Muslim population. They do not exactly want to be our friends.”

“Russia lacks the capacity to sustain any war,
the people are sick of it,
they will retaliate,
they like the new Rich,
they even have millionaires,
in a backward ,communist country,
that destroyed\d all the Russian wealth.”
“SO?? What is the reason for this post? She is not pretty enough for you?? Perhaps her aptitude, behavior, values, personality, and many other qualities were also voted on and not just looks? Love that some have to be negative over a simple story. And I have to say if all students looked as pretty that school would be inundated with a huge influx of available men.. BTW Star Troopers 2 was a pretty stupid movie anyhow, at least the ladies would be nicer to be looking at”

“No, she just doesn't look much any different from the girls I knew in high schools. Also to state I didn't even know about the show.”
Joemmm on Sep 16, 2013 at 20:01:56
“Well. I could not tell if she was Indian from India or not. She is pretty of course. I know nothing of her routine as I didn't see the show. How was I negative. The first part of my post said I wasn't interested in the show. The second said that she looked like any other American I know that I grew up with. I could not tell that her near ancestors where from outside the USA. I guess I was negative when I said I wished that she take advantage of her opportunity for a joyous life. And many of the students in my high school look as pretty as she. That was when kids in general were not over weight.”
“So the Jackson family wants to prove that MJ still had plans to make monies (and help support them and their lifestyles) WHAT does that have to do with the drugs he was taking? NO one plans on dying -- ask Elvis, Janis, Jimmy, Morrison, Cobain, Miles and many more. I will bet not one of them planned on dropping dead due to substance abuse. MJ was a smart person, I am positive he researched propofol and was well award of the pros and cons he faced using it. Add the other drugs and even his surgeries he seemed addicted to. Like so many he lived on the edge and sadly for all ...his children, family and fans lost the opportunity to see where he could go. IN truth he may not have done as well in a come back and no one will ever know - he chose to play the scary game of using a drug he never should have, as many others have also done. The family needs to move on..they have done well on what MJ has provided for them, time to stop looking to blame others. With a different childhood he may have been more stable as an adult...it is much too sad he and all those others are gone way too soon.”
“Just tell me how many of those politicians voting to strike on Syria are willing to have thir children join the armed forces in the same fields that everyone else's children do? NOooo they get to sign up as "officers" or like Bush...not show up for duty, or those whose children get deferment after deferment like Romney who had FOUR draft deferments
Sure - put their family members at the head of the list and see how fast they change thier need to make a statement!”
“I note you do not list any of the many many favorable articles about marijuana. Everyone can come up with "information" or articles making their arguments look good and in the right.
More people who drink alcohol are apt to drive a car shortly after drinking then people who smoke pot are. To be truthful there are hundreds of everyday drugs - either by prescription or over the counter that could easily have the same articles written on their use and driving. Don't know how many times people I have known have stated how they feel dizzy a short time after cold medicine, I do not see any laws about not driving for those people?
I guess we will have to wait at least 5-10 years to see if openly allowing use of pot might even be positive. In other countries there is less heavy or street drug use where pot is legal. Heavens....could this maybe happen here in the states? One has to wonder if so if there will even be recognition of that from the naysayers of today. Time will tell.”
“As stated in an earlier article - perhaps the huge reactions from law enforcement has a different reason for being upset. Simply put a HUGE gold mine for them
"Local law enforcement agencies rely heavily on the drug war for funding. Police departments are often able to keep a large portion of the assets they seize during drug raids, even if charges are never brought. And federal grants for drug war operations make up a sizable portion of local law enforcement funding."”
ThatBloodyDog on Sep 4, 2013 at 11:42:11
“Add to that the odd Friday night bust to top up the weed supplies for Saturday's fishing trip.”
“lol so many are so crass on their comments -- like who cares, why is this a story, etc Wonder just how many of them watch at least one of those reality shows that are about the lives of other people?? I would not be surprised nowadays to be in the minority but still cannot understand watching duck people, gator people, hoarders, housewives, booboo child, etc etc. Yet people complain about a simple news story of a sister to one of the now Royals.”
"Local law enforcement agencies rely heavily on the drug war for funding. Police departments are often able to keep a large portion of the assets they seize during drug raids, even if charges are never brought. And federal grants for drug war operations make up a sizable portion of local law enforcement funding."
So I guess the huge upset is all about the morals of pot being legal versus the monies it might bring in? Could it also be pot smokers are easier to deal with then the hard core druggies when it comes to arrests, etc?”
“I would much rather people get "stoned" on pot then "smashed" on alcohol or delirious on really heavy duty street drugs. Which studies do you want to believe...ones that show pot to actually calm people down, that it does not induce aggression or dependency like alcohol. That more people will drive on alcohol then pot? What of the use for cancer patients and how it can potentially affect some cancers even?
I am all for the war on drugs yet I find the reports over the decades to show many favorable ones on pot and very few on alcohol as to behavior and addiction. Spend those millions on the war against drugs on the violent ones and the ones that are so addictive people die from lack of it or become thieves, killers, etc. Go for the meth, heroine, crack, ecstacy, coke, the uppers and downers. All with users having long histories of contributing little to society and often causing harm to the rest of society.
I guess I do believe that alcohol which is legal is actually much more harmful the pot. Alcohol harms many others thru auto and other accidents, killings, stealing, and more. Yes pot smokers do stand to damage their lungs by smoking so there is give and take in all drugs one uses, I just find one less harmful "overall" then the other”
“As damn much?? It cost me just around $450 for creamation of my loved one and that was just a few years ago, about half that 18 years ago for another family member. This is why families often use cremation as it is affordable over the huge expenses of funerals.
Mine was also in a clear plastic bag in a box with a metal tag. When I went to get the ashes and asked about separating them for family members I was told I would need to supply separate vessels or do it myself at home. I expect this is what the place should have done and thus not had to use regular plastic bags. .I understand the distress but I still say they were also wrong to bring a container that had no seal and would not close and protect the ashes. Possibly just me but I could never imagine just putting those ashes in a open container that could drop or fall, those results would be even worse”
