Chris Christie Administration In A Jam Over Charges Of Using Busiest U.S. Bridge In Political Payback

Commented Dec 10, 2013 at 11:02:12 in Politics

“it was a vicious act. The person who ordered it should face CRIMINAL charges of 'Reckless endangerment' of the public and be forced to reimburse the city, county, and state taxpayers for the added costs of calling in extra public safety officials to deal with the traffic burdens and keep their services 'functioning'. If he cannot provide any evidence of acting in an 'official capacity' within the protocols and routine standards of his public office he should face civil lawsuits from businesses and individuals whose faced losses and disruptions as a result of his 'stunt'.....and anyone who failed to question or verify the 'secret order' and ignored the big, bright 'RED FLAG' of the demand to NOT notify their supervisors or public safety officials of an action that they SHOULD HAVE KNOWN AND/OR REASONABLY SUSPECT would cause harm and disruption to the general public is NOT competent to hold that job....and while we're on the subject....why the heck did it take so long to put an end to this 'stunt'?! Who exactly is 'in charge' there? It defies logic that one person can unilaterally order multiple lanes closed on the busiest bridge in the country- causing immediate, lasting, and extremely costly harm, risk, and disruption to tens of thousands of citizens- put an entire city in danger, cost businesses millions of dollars...and yet not one person with the authority has the common sense to quickly put a stop to such a dangerous act.”

But it really doesn't matter much now- President Obama's administration has overseen a huge boom in domestic oil and natural gas production, so foreign 'cartels' have even less influence....now if we could only do something about the cocaine-fueled sociopaths on Wall Street we'd be in much better shape”

“Actually, Mr. Jacobs, Republicans are quite adept at getting through to women on an 'emotional level'......in fact....most adult women I know respond to Republicans with reflexive disgust and revulsion....as though they've been assaulted by a bad odor.

It's just a shame that so many in the Republican Party are so lacking in both imagination and empathy that they can't understand what it's like to have a political party so publicly and relentlessly focused on regulating and controlling our most intimate bodily functions and relationships.

Pretend for just one moment, Mr. Jacobs....that a female Governor and female legislators won a majority control of your home state and immediately set to work to pass laws affecting your reproductive organs....demanding that your physician subject you to invasive probes and unneeded x-rays, insisting that none of your most common medical needs can be covered by your own private health insurance, and seeking to limit and/or eliminate all low-cost clinics that provide a range of services and treatments for men. Does that reach you on an emotional level?”

Yeah....that's EXACTLY what happens if 'insurance' is too 'generous'.......like...after a house fire.....if you allow the INSURANCE money to pay out enough to rebuild a person's whole house, you're causing them to become part of this perpetual homeowner group in our economy

For pete's sake....we can't have people receiving unemployment INSURANCE payouts long enough for the job market to be rebuilt....that'll cause them to become part of the perpetually 'secure and not starving' in our economy.”

“War is expensive...THIS President had to pay for the two wars that the previous administration neglected to fund. This President had to pay interest on the debt from unfunded wars, unfunded tax giveaways, unfunded expansion of Medicare drug benefits, and the bank bailouts that the previous President authorized. And the interest on the debt this President was saddled with is HIGHER...thanks to the Republican driven TWO government shutdowns and multiple threats to DEFAULT on our nation's debt. The meager stimulus spending this President authorized did manage to staunch the jobs hemmoraging caused by Bush's incompetence and Wall Street's malfeasence....and the streamlining of smart regulations this President has implemented appears to be very, very good for 'business'...corporate profits are at all-time highs and the financial markets are booming.

The pain that ordinary people are facing is due almost entirely to the concerted efforts of the obstructionist Republicans in Congress to block ANY administration policies that would benefit workers, the unemployed, or the poor.”

“You do realize that CONGRESS is in charge of 'spending'....and the radical minority Party in Congress has OBSTRUCTED this President's 'economic policies'.

In SPITE of the Do-Nothing Party's attempts to disrupt the functioning of government...this President has stabilized the economy, cut the deficit in half, saved the auto industry, reduced the rise of health care spending to it's lowest rate in 5 decades, and instituted reforms to the Health Care system that are resulting in better outcomes, expanded coverage, lower costs, and increased transparency in costs. He also ended one war, is in the process of ending the other, and captured/killed every one of those responsible for the 911 attacks. He has also overseen a boom in domestic energy production-freeing U.S. from our dangerous dependence of foreign oil.

If Congress were not blocking immigration reform, the President's jobs bills, the farm bill, and targeted transportation spending....this nation's job market would be BOOMING!”

“B.S. There is only one way for it to be 'cheaper' to ship all that crap in from China....and that's if you can get crooked politicians to make American taxpayers 'subsidize' those shipping costs with tax cuts, write-offs, grants, and incentives. Which is what is happening. We let them 'write off' the foreign taxes they pay against the paltry amount they may be liable for here- resulting in 'rebates' of money they never paid U.S. -.a perverse sort of 'earned income credit' for 'Corporate Welfare Queens'. We also 'subsidize' the costs of building and operating the Big Box stores here with tax payer funded facade grants, waived license/inspection costs, impact fee forgiveness, special sales tax exemptions and giveaways, and by absorbing the costs of providing health care and food stamps to their underpaid employees. It's not about being 'cheaper to manufacture here'...it's about corrupting the system to crush the competition, while privatizing the gains- with the top 1% each skimming off the top- and socializing the costs and losses, with the American public holding the bag.”

“Number 1) an insurance policy is simply a 'financial product'...it is MONEY, money that is 'earmarked' to be 'spent' by individuals on their own, PRIVATE medical conditions. 'Insurance' is not providing abortions or any other care, it is simply providing money that a policy holder may CHOOSE to spend on legal prescribed treatments. Only your own medical doctors should be able to 'prescribe your own treatments'. Pregnancy is a MEDICAL CONDITION that poses great health risk to the women involved. Insurance policies should offer comprehensive coverage of all legal and medically reasonable treatment options for such an important medical condition. Legislators are NOT qualified to interfere in the private medical decisions of women and their doctors.”
