“I talked to God yesterday and he said you misquoted him. Yes I know you didn't comment until today but he's omniscient you know.
Anyway, he says you forgot the bit about "the least of my brothers" - he says that's what's really important.
He asked me to tell you because he says you stopped listening to him.

It was confusing why a good God would be so mean to some people, wasn't it?
Hope you feel better now you know the truth.”

“What about polygamists? When will they have equal rights and be allowed to marry or have civil unions?
And when will bestials have more rights? Did you know ONLY 22 states allow bestial relationships but NONE allow bestial marriages?

New Rule: Everyone deserves equal rights (and not just who i think deserves equal rights)”

“He's just going for a laugh.

There have been plenty of real conspiracies documented in the history of the US and no longer disputed, so do people not learn their own history, or do they forget it, or ignore it?

Questions about 911 should be answered - that would shut up the crazies.
I simply can't understand someone asserting they KNOW what happened on 9/11 when the official story leaves so many legitimate questions unanswered.
I don't know what happened, but as sure as you breathe, neither do you.
So where's the harm in a real investigation?”

“OMG. You are just like thwe Birthers screaming how Obama should show is birth certificate after he has already shown it. Nothing is good enough. The questions have been answered. see below.

“Here we go with the "questions" meme again. Every conspiracy theory has some crap about unanswered "questions" that can be easily answered by doing a little research. It's the same with the birthers, the truthers, the anti-evolutionist young-Earthers, and the moon-landing conspiracists. You'd rather believe some nebulous theory than actually look at the facts in front of you.”

“"Questions about 911 should be answered - that would shut up the crazies."

Why ? Did absolute proof shut up the Birthers or the Moon Landing Was A Hoax wingnutters ?

9-11 was a terrorist attack by Al Qaeda. That much is fact. What is not fully known yet is how negligent the Bush Administration was in just not paying attention to the issue, before the attack. But, any claim that the Bush Administration knew beforehand, and either enabled or allowed the attack to go on, is as barking mad as claims that FDR did the same WRT Pearl Harbor or that anyone other than Oswald did in JFK. (On that last one, Vincent Bugliosi's massive examination of that case nails that down with masses of actual facts.)

Crazy people will continue to be crazy, no matter what the facts are. That is what the Republican Party is counting on.”

Agreed but...

What questions? A question must have merit to the subject at hand before it can the answered. I'd like to take a poll too... Of all the "US involvement in 9/11" folks out there, how many have actually read the report?”

“Sorry, where did all these commenters get the information that the tests are expensive?
The facts don't appear to support that view.

I followed the links to the Doc's site and I read:
"One is a blood test for IgG antibodies to foods. This is useful and can pinpoint trouble areas, but isn't 100 percent accurate yet. Better yet, I recommend a simple, low-cost and well-accepted treatment that you can do at home called elimination/provocation. "”

I would advise Big Pharma to spread out these fake stores among more logins so its not so obvious that you have a stalking horse among the genuine commenters.”

“Interesting to view it from a different angle.
But perhaps a continuum between the state on one side and corporations on the other would be more accurate. Selling one side as "freedom" sounds a little prejudicial, don't you think?

What we have in Sweden is a bias towards state control.
What we have in the US is a bias towards corporate control.

I can anticipate an immediate reaction of "Hooey" to the last statement, but consider the influence corporate lobbyists have over *our* representatives. The banks essentially own Congress (according to a senior politician, who was that on radio a couple of weeks ago?).
Corporations control healthcare in the US - the state largely controls it in Sweden.
The reserve bank controls the interest rates in Sweden - in the US the Federal Reserve controls it - most people do not realize the Fed Reserve is actually a privately owned corporation. Look it http://www.huffingtonpost.com/joseph-a-palermo/glenn-beck-spins-the-holo_b_214118.html#ml#”

“Do you think our preference for corporate control is an affirmation of capitalism or simply a vote of no confidence in our government's ability to administer services.

Only about half of the money allocated to welfare programs ever reach the needy, the rest goes to the bueauracrat who only has his job because he's friend's with the govenor.

Ever wait in line at the DMV? Ever deal with the surly types who work there? Ever try to contact the IRS to obtain old tax records? I've had it take over 12 weeks to get a copy of a basic return that was less than 3 years old.

The choice you present is intriguing, I just think the corporations are the lesser of two evils.

This is why Jefferson saw us as a country of yeomen famers with a few very small businesses and service industries. He realized that both government and business were bad options and sought out a middle way - too bad we have yet to realize that.”

“Essentially correct, but look closely and you'll see the distinction between Republicans and Democrats is slim to non-existent in some cases.
Unfortunately for us, the banks own both parties.
Specifically JPM and Goldman have a revolving door with Treasury.
There are Democrats who want to break the stranglehold, but they're not in power.

Great article!”

My Brief Conversation with Joe The Plumber (I'm NOT Kidding)

My Brief Conversation with Joe The Plumber (I'm NOT Kidding)

Commented Oct 24, 2008 at 21:19:31 in Politics

“If Joe is successful down the line and makes $350,000, he will be taking home about $203,000 after-tax right? That's much much better than the $30,000 he takes home now (let's say, out of $40K income)

Obama's tax plan will mean he would take home only $200,000 instead of $203,000.

That's right, we're talking about $3000 difference.
Meanwhile Joe has increased his take-home after-tax income by $170,000

Now you're seriously arguing that people will work hard to make $203,000 but will opt for stagnation rather than earn a lousy $200,000? Seriously?”

bbc3341 replied on Oct 24, 2008 at 23:00:19

“No because his $350,000 isn't all taxed at the higher rate, only the amount over $250,000 - basically the typical worker who makes over $250,000 will in fact pay about 10-15% less than the percentage of the bracket they are in after you factor in marginal and progressive rates, deductions, etc. So the guy making $350,000 could possibly take home $250,000 after taxes (of course this is if he has a good accountant)

And, if Joe is married and has kids and makes 40,000 my guess is that he would have no tax liability at all - even now...”

“It didn't make sense to me that Joe could not buy the business because he would pay $3000 a year more.

The first $250,000 - no change in taxes, right?
Suppose he buys the business and earns $350,000 - so on the additional $100K he pays $39K instead of $36K - that's $3000 and that's enough to tip the balance and make him unable to buy the business?

Now if he's going to earn $450,000 then he'll pay an extra $6K - he'll also take home an extra $122,000 more than someone earning $250,000. And he's struggling?”

UpstateNY replied on Oct 16, 2008 at 11:40:15

“Doesn't sound like a great businessman to me!

Also, does Joe realize that he needs customers who can pay for his service. So, his investment of $3,000 if it is spent wisely to help others achieve financial success (and not being sent to fight a stupid war in Iraq) would help grow more paying customers for Joe's business.

That's what 'bottom-up' economics does and I think it will work a whole lot better than the 'top down' of the past 8 years. What do you think, Joe?

And a bit of advice - go see an accountant before you do anything!”
