“He knows it's hurting headstart, children and families--he doesn't care. Instead of focusing on this heartless idiot--focus on the imbeciles who elected him. What is wrong with these hard right voters who continue to vote against their own self-interest?”

“I know his district, and it is full of the typical right wing gun toting, bible thumping, farm subsidized teabags.
“Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said the central bank’s aggressive response to the 2007-2009 financial crisis and recession helped prevent a worldwide catastrophe.
“We did stop the meltdown,” Bernanke said today in the third of four lectures to undergraduates at George Washington University. “We avoided what would have been, I think, a collapse of the global financial system.”
So, what exactly do you think a 'collapse of the global financial system' would look like? It would mean much of society would stop functioning. It would mean closed banks, disabled ATMs, cleared grocery store shelves and widespread panic. People who survive on plastic credit cards without hard currency would be with any monetary resources. We are all nine meal away from anarchy. Without food and drinkable water, populations riot. Humans will do anything to stay alive.
If Bernanke believes a complete collapse was possible, then it is a possibility still. Look at Greece, Spain, Italy, Cypress… I believe in common sense gun control and full background checks, but anyone who says the possibility for mass civil unrest is implausible is wrong. Yes, every law abiding US citizen should have the right to bear arms.”

“As you say, look at Greece, Spain, Italy, Cypress...they seem to have survived the "apocalypse" without turning into the world of the "Road Warrior", much to the Doomsday Preppers' disappointment, evidently. People still go to work, go to church, eat at restaurants, play with their children, and fall asleep in front of the TV with their doors unlocked. Aw, shucks! The truth is, the gun in your home is more likely to be used to murder one or more of the people in the home, kill a family member, friend, or neighbor accidently, settle a petty argument, or be sold under the table to a criminal to buy another gun or dope than be used in some doomsday scenario. Sorry to spoil "your dream".”
“Bring in the military to patrol Englewood. When crime are committed, arrest and quicky arraign in special 'gang' courts. Those that are innocent are releases, those that are guilty are sentenced to a work farm where they must grow their own food and work every day on the land. No weight equipment, no tv. Work will set you free.”
“The primary purpose of Republicans these days is to provide tax breaks and other financial advantages (such as not regulating pollution, and other socially costly externalities) to their wealthy donor base. All the rest of their platform, all the culture wars stuff is simply rube bait.
Since the GOP is loath to tell the public in straightforward terms what their economic agenda is, and the news media are not exactly forcing the GOPs hand, and finally, the people are operating in a knowledge deficit, Republicans respond by sleight of hand: "We're more American than that Kenyan socialist in the White House!". Or "the Obama administration is riddled with muslim extremists" Or "Obama wants to take away your guns"...
Stuff that is not terribly persuasive to well-informed people, but a lot of people are surprisingly ill-informed and very few institutions--the corporate media least of all--have any interet in their being well-informed.”
“I was raised RC, attended 8 years of catholic grade school and 4 years of catholic high school and haven't set foot in church in many many years. Hypocrisy, poor judgement, sexual abuse scandals, the vatican bank under repeated investigations for money laundering... the catholic church is just a big corporation. You have a better chance of finding God on a trail in the forest than in any man made church/building. Christians stay the hell out of politics and society.”

I'm so deeply saddened that you encountered everyone but the Lord Jesus in your Catholic journey:-( So, you like so many before us, followed Judas out the door; when will you and our wayward brothers and sisters follow in the Apostle's footsteps by seeking The Lord Jesus with all your mind, heart , soul and will?
The Divine Pantocrator is inviting you His beloved child to return to His everloving and powerful embrace. Now, is the time -this is the very moment to return to the One who loves and desires you the most. Evil, is bearing down on America like never before and we are being asked to choose sides; there is no middle ground. j8h9, we belong to the Church the Lord Jesus Himself founded and the gates of hell will not be able to defend itself against us - the Church Militant.
My prayers for you are two fold j8h9 first, may you come to truly comprehend and assent to the following words of the Lord of the Universe: "Ego Sum Via Veritas Et Vita ." Secondly, may you come to hunger and desire Our Lord Jesus in Holy Communion.
Pax et bonum to you and yours j8h9. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/paul_vi/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-vi_enc_03091965_mysterium_en.html”
“Hey Jay, I didn't even read this article, just the headline. Wake up. Go tell Obama that the Republicans are not going to fold because you say so. Or because he says so. You need a real plan B because otherwise the country will default. Wake up and start fighting the Republicans with the same ruthlessness they use to oppose Obama.”

“I suspect Obama will take executive action soon if Congress fails to act. The Republicans are looking bad right now and Obama will wait until they look really bad.
I throw my lot in with Bill Clinton. He, too, says he would take executive action. If the Republicans take him to court, let them. There is no way they would win and they would look even more embarrassingly bad. Playing chicken with the economy is a no-win. Even Gingrich found that out when he shut down the government.”

“OCCUPY ON THE BALLOT... many of the political organizations are getting candidates on the ballot. Will the Occupy movement consider establishing a political party and getting candidates on the ballot at the State (state reps, state senators) and local levels? Certainly have enough resources everywhere to get signatures and start. The Green Party had their convention yesterday. The Tea Party has had significant success getting their representatives elected and are a powerful influence on the Republican party. Occupy Party could do the same.
The Democratic party in the state of Illinois is organized by County, Township and Precinct. There is a county Chair, a chair for each Township and precinct committeemen/women. If we want to effect change, we can begin by planning and organizing. We need Occupy County chairs, Occupy Township chairs and Occupy State reps, senators and more... We should also be running candidates in the Township governments elections, these legislative bodies have a giant impact on development, jobs in their communities.
Our immediate impact might be to dilute to Democratic votes and that in itself could compel the Democratic party to move towards the Occupy agenda just as the Tea Party has forced the Republican party to move similarly..”
Why don't you write an article about how the indian guest workers are stealing American jobs. I'm not referring to those born in America but rather the hundreds of thousands in this country on work VISAs--stealing American tech jobs. They are not immigrants--the majority have no intention of staying in this country--they will all retire back in India. Jobs problem in US? Strip the H-1b VISAs and you'll instantly generate thousands of tech jobs for American citizens.”

“Our last IT manager was a 300 lb. American whale. He went around yelling at everyone in every department at what they should be doing- doesn't matter whether it was marketing or finance - things he knew nothing about. He was always eating cheetos in his cube and playing computer games during 9-5 when he wasn't berating everyone, and delivering substandard work. I couldn't help but think we could get the work done at a fraction of the cost considering how lazy and beligerent this guy was. No thanks- some of these IT people want a comfy 6-figures without working for it or having the right attitude...and now we're going to have to compete with the best globally.”

“These must be the jobs Brewer claims we are too lazy to take. Or, maybe we are not educated enough to be able to DO those jobs???
Repubs say NO to TAXES that FUND our SCHOOLS.
The most able among us should pay. It is a privilege to be a citizen n this country, and to have the opportunity to get wealthy. If you are able to grab the gold ring, pay your share. We supported you to get there. No one makes it in a bubble.
Or maybe the uber wealthy would rather be a member of the last generation when this country was still great? They will be able to blame themselves.”
