“Where were the parents in the house that the girl found herself in the following morning? All involved were not college students, they were high school students: underage drinkers. This tragedy should serve as a wake up call for all parents who either naively believe "not my child" or choose to look the other way. The verdict was just, tragic that it happened. Parents do have responsibilities. Our 2 teens sometimes complain that we are being too strict, but they do appreciate our choices and talks we have with them, and they do realize that decisions made have potentially saved them from a lot of heartache.”
“Just what we need: another year of mindless hype rather than focusing on important issues.”

“Its important to document comet events so we can better model how such an event would play out on Earth, in addition it is good practice for tracking comets, especially since its comets such as these that pose the biggest threat because you don't see them coming for a few months in advance.
You guys are always criticizing scientists models, but then you complain every time we invest to improve those models.”

“Yeah, like, mainly, the Jodi Arias issues...”

“It is in the science section right where it should be... relax”
“All I can say is that any "trainer" I ever caught doing this to my horse would be done, as I would be relentless in litigation (yes, I am a horse owner, and yes, my horse is in training). This sad excuse for a human needs to be forced out of the equine world immediately.”

“I'm glad that the FBI is finally getting involved with this. A self-appointed neighborhood watch captain, who carries a gun, and confronts any deemed suspicious person in his area (turf?) he is watching would be known as something other than a neighborhood watch captain here in Chicago. Beyond this, the actions of the local police are odd, too (was GZ given an alcohol/drug test by local police upon their arrival?) - are they trying to protect him or as yet undisclosed reasons? The FBI may very well uncover a BIG can of worms.”
“Agreed. The automation/technological advance/education situation is rapidly becoming a global issue as well. Check the number of countries with 25% unemployment for the 19-25 age range. Just what (quality of) employment are they likely to find? What do you think the long-term political stability of those countries is going to be? The US needs to address the jobs/education issues as the top priority.”
“Please go. Our government/country really needs to get past the political side-shows, economic spin, endless campaign seasons, etc., and focus on getting our country economically, socially, and politically healthy. Both parties are guilty of continuing this business-as-usual, smoke-and-mirrors, kick the can down the road, and hope for the best. It's not just Herman Cain and his issues. Maybe his departure would start a trend.”
“Well said, Patricia. Only, it's no longer "the middle of the night" - at least not here in Chicagoland. The insanity starts at 9:00pm at some stores, and others have different "sales" spread across different hours that the store is open! Apps to help the savvy shopper find the best "deal" (first, buy the iPhone and apps at 9:00pm so one can be guided towards the next shopping stop?), reports of people already camped out (as of 5:00am Thanksgiving morning) in front of stores, etc.
As a fellow nonconformist, I also find this trend quite puzzling. The "Be the first" marketing technique is becoming more common (movie theatres offering midnight showings of new releases, book stores opening at midnight the day of a new book release, Apple stores opening at midnight when a new product is released, etc). Curiously, this technique does seem to work - everyone knows there will be more sales pre and post Christmas.
I fully intend to be sleeping off my turkey dinner starting at around 9:00pm tonight, and will be perfectly content to be the 4,350,267th person to buy whatever it is when I start my holiday shopping.”
“Thank you, Bob, saying what needs to be said! The "can" cannot be kicked down the road too much longer, so why as so many pretending that it can be? Yes, necessary changes will be difficult, but it's time for the US, Eurozone, and the world to seriously address economic issues.”
“Cs and Ds at Texas A & M?!?! I feel sick to my stomach.... I'm afraid to ask what his major was.
No wonder some of these candidates don't give a d**n about the state of (lack of) education in this country.
What concerns me the most about Perry is that I'm convinced that he has gotten as far as he has because of his campaign staff/stategists. Think about it. How/when he entered the GOP race, etc. I'm not a gambling person, but I'm willing to bet a pitcher of beer that (at least 1) someone on his team is very, very well versed on Sun Tzu's "Art of War". Although RP does seem to stick his foot in his mouth every time he speaks in public, the strategy dynamic of his campaign could very well give him the edge when nomination time comes around.”
“Is anyone really surprised by this? Hammy will do/say whatever it takes to stay in power, and even he must realize his unpopularity. I agree with a previous post that he won't last 5 minutes after the US pullout, and I'm sure the announcement of US troops being totally out of Iraq by the end of this year is giving him the jitters.”
“I agree. But, then again, we're talking about Ohio.”

“They were let loose in the middle of a city with houses right next door...you cannot take a chance of them harming anyone. Many of the animals were saved and are being transported to the Columbus Zoo.”
