The Snowe Job, and Why a "Trigger" for a Public Option is Nonsense

Commented Sep 09, 2009 at 11:39:19 in Politics

“If the republicans want to decrease the influence of the labor movement they will support a public option. The main reason labor unions are influential is to negotiate healthcare. Just look at Canada, healthy people and no unemployment. Left to the insurance companies, premiums will go to 800. per month with a 20,000 deductible. Noone will be able to afford it, and hospitals will be innundated with the uninsured.”

“That's because opposing views are not good for the country right now. The Republicans are opposing just to oppose, they have no solutions, save to turn back the clock.”

Maxamillion replied on Aug 14, 2009 at 21:40:52

“Jalapeno,
Be very careful what you wish for. When the Republican regain the majority, it will be you that has the opposing view---which you state is not good for the country right now.
Let's not forget the Democrats were opposing to just to oppose from 2000 to 2006---they had no solutions either. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac being one glaring example when the Democrats opposed the efforts to reform both in 2005. I bet they sure would like to turn back the clock on that one.”

So, in your opinion, opposing views are only good when this country has been attacked and thousands of innocent men women and children are killed..

“All I want is 1 office visit a year, 8 tubes of bloodwork and 1 XRay every two years, why must I pay 2000 bucks for this??
I don't trust doctors, I can diagnose myself, thank you very much !!”

“Have you read this post to realize how ignorant it actually is?”

dumboldman replied on Aug 10, 2009 at 16:14:14

“Sounds fine. Unitl you are diagnosed with heart, lung, or liver problems - then things get expensive. Not too long ago you could buy major medical insurance for your family and pay for routine doctor visits yourself. But no more. I've paid into medicare at the rate of 3% (me and my employer) of my salary ever since the program was initiated. As quickly as they could my employer eased me off their sponsered program and on to the "Public Option - Medicare"
Now my wife and I are on Medicare and my "routine medicines" for diabetes and heart cost well over $8,000 per year in addition to our monthly Medicare premiums of $2160. The Government has contracted with a private insureance company to manage my "case". I have no reason to think the government will do any better with control of your health care as well.
Just look at the post office. They handle all the "mail", charge $.44 / item, and still they are going broke. UPS, FEDEX, etc. move most of the packages and are going gangbusters. It will be the same when the government is in charge of health care.”

HuffPost Editor Roy Sekoff On GOP's Southern Problem: "It's Not Their Accents, It's Their Ideas" (VIDEO)

Commented Jul 29, 2009 at 01:16:28 in Politics

“No, it really is their accents !! Their ideas come from private school hell !! For instance Jeff Sessions has a BA from Huntingdon College in Alabama, a religious, old fashioned, brain washing laundromat !!”

DanteLabon replied on Jul 29, 2009 at 04:36:18

“Yeah, I know. New Yorker's accents make them sound so s t u p i d. And how about Boston? whew.. It's a good thing that you broke the mystery.”

sizogee replied on Jul 29, 2009 at 02:20:34

“And Jeff Sessions is representative of the south?

If the problem is the schools, how is it that the problem "really is their accents !!"

And what bastion of intellectual greatness taught you to put spaces in front of exclamation marks?

Perhaps you ought to practice those values of tolerance and understanding that guys who take pictures of themselves in from of art typically preach?”
