The Jacksons: Not the Only Musical Family Dynasty

Commented Dec 12, 2009 at 11:43:53 in Entertainment

“The Osmonds are to the Jackson 5 as Wonder bread is to Orowheat. They hit the pop charts after unmercilessly ripping off the Jackson 5, that includes their choreographed dance moves.

As antiseptic, insipid, and substantial as a bowl of Kix cereal, and with no fruit flavors or colors for sensory leavening.”

Xorlaryn replied on Dec 12, 2009 at 22:01:49

“The Osmonds have been performing since 1958, and the Jacksons got their start in the early 1960's. They performed two completely different styles of music. No one got ripped off. Get your facts straight.”

Senators Should Visit a Free Health Care Clinic to Really See the America They Represent... and Deny

Commented Dec 11, 2009 at 18:48:03 in Politics

“When you have gainfully employed Americans being forced out of necessity to go to free clinics for health care because they either have inadequate or no health insurance and to stretch out whatever meager discretionary monies they have at their disposal, doesn't this speak volumes with regards to how much the middle class has declined and how increasingly tattered our safety net really has become?”

ron46032 replied on Dec 11, 2009 at 18:58:07

“It does speak volumes to how the public education system has not been able to properly prepare our populace for the working needs of companies.

It used to be enough for someone to finish high school, have a strong back, and have a good work ethic. Now you have to have an education because we are in the information age not the industrial age any more.”

“Can;t we stop labeling movies as "gay," "black" or whatever? After all, aren't we ALL sexual beings, regardless of how our own personal sexual mechanics operate?”

GrownupStewie replied on Dec 09, 2009 at 23:37:39

“....have you ever seen the nutty professor 2, the klumps?.....yeah thats a black movie...as is Friday After Next...as is anything by Tyler Perry....those are black movies....there will always be black movies, or gay movies, or latino movies, or what have you because people like watch stuff about themselves..

as a white person, I have watched tyler perry movies, they are very good but because im not black and 98% of the people in the theater are, I dont get half the jokes because they usually deal with black culture...I dont know the troubles black woman have with their hair, so when its brought up in a movie I feel left out, but the rest of the theater is laughing their heads off....

gay people like to watch gay movies or gay tv shows, thats why they have Logo and Bravo...black people like to watch black shows, that why they have BET....White people like to watch white shows, that why they watch HGTV...and Fox, and NBC...and CBS...and ABC...lol”

Christian Leaders Scapegoat Gays on Marriage

Commented Nov 27, 2009 at 09:17:44 in Politics

“Whatever happened to "Blessed are ye who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand?"

Makes you wonder as to who the real persecuters are?”

Speechlesstx replied on Nov 30, 2009 at 16:35:38

“I suppose the attendees at the Folsom Street Fair are being persecuted for "righteousness' sake."”

Zanti replied on Nov 28, 2009 at 17:29:02

“We know, we know. The answer is by now stock. I have to wonder why the standard Harris/Dawkins point of view is constantly being cited as if it popped up yesterday, vice years ago.

Both oral and written dissemination of received themes are SUPPOSED to be progressing a lot faster in our mass-mediated age, but I sometimes wonder.”

SonofLiberty1 replied on Nov 28, 2009 at 12:30:14

And Gay activists are persecuting Christians”

FanDaElis replied on Nov 28, 2009 at 05:32:07

Sarah Palin: Rogue Republican or Democratic Operative?

Commented Nov 15, 2009 at 18:07:24 in Politics

“(To the tune of "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," by Crystal Gayle)

I don't know when our state's turned blue
Don't know what's come over you.
You're found nightly on Fox News
And don't it make my red state blue

We'll be fine now that you're gone
We won't be crying all night long
Everything 'bout you is untrue
And don't it make my red state blue

Stop keeping secrets, stop telling lies
Stop going rogue, can the alibis
Your governorship's legacy makes me cry
Don't disgrace us further, so please just resign.

You're really mean and treated us bad
Didn't know just what we've had
But honey now I do
And don't it make my red state
Don't it make my red state
Don't it make my red state blue

Don't it make my red state
Don't it make my red state
Don't it make my red state blue”

Commented Nov 10, 2009 at 18:52:46 in Business

“Any resemblance between Wall Street executives and televangelists is hardly coincidental. Both preach their incestuously amplified sermons to their choirs even as they whip up more batches of snake oil to peddle to the unsuspecting suspectable.

And anyone who ever watched the film "The Miracle Worker" can fathom what happened to Helen Keller once her parents administered the snake oil.”

Why It's Wrong When Wrongdoers Are Allowed to Admit No Wrongdoing

Commented Nov 09, 2009 at 19:12:06 in Business

“Too many clusterf*cks are paying out millions in out-of-court settlements because they cannot "man up" and admit failure.

If a Roman Catholic priest can deny absolution to a sinner who shows no remorse, why can't we deny absolution to those who've done us harm? And why should absolution be granted to wrongdoers who are allowed not to admit any trespasses against others, even though it's clearly illustrated that they've done exactly that?

It's only fair to ask?”

Victims, Victims Everywhere on Time Warner's HLN

Commented Nov 08, 2009 at 10:49:34 in Media

“(Set to the tune of "You Are My Sunshine")

The other night dear, as I sat watching
Miss Nancy Grace on the cable news
I saw another innocent victim
So I hung my head and I cried.

CHORUS:
You are my sunshine, my Mary Sunshine
You make me angry when news turns gray
You'll never know dear, how much I watch you
Don't take my Mary Sunshine away

Pontificating panels of experts,
Loud lamentations sound all the same.
But if they rush to irrational judgments,
They'll all regret it some day:

CHORUS

Anger projected at perpetrators
who are deemed pure as the driven slush.
Those media lynch mobs host up their pretards
So they can grab their pieces of flesh:

CHORUS

Sob sisters crying a river of tears
Over injustices they all perceived
Exploiting heartbreak that's homicidal
and exploitation done cynically

CHORUS”

How About a Little Coverage of the Millions of At-Risk Kids Not Trapped in a Balloon (or Hiding in the Attic)?

Commented Oct 19, 2009 at 18:40:04 in Media

“Why all this much ado about what proved to be nothing all along when we have far more pressing concerns in our country? Is our children who are at risk for homelessness, disease and God-knows-what are less worthy of our concern than a "balloon boy" who flew off unattended when he was actually hiding up in the attic?

It's shamelessly cynical exploitation disguised as a breaking news bulletin interrupting our regularly-scheduled programming.”

“we used to call it a prank... before we became what we are today....charge them with 5 crimes put them in jail take their kids away basically destroy them.........I thought is was funny........the hype to me is to cover the real fact the news sucks in our country they cover fluff and not what would be considered as the true news..............”

boomer1949 replied on Oct 19, 2009 at 18:54:29

“You are missing the point entirely. This kid was used, told to lie, and threw up on national television. Why do you supposed he got sick? Because more often than not, a 6 year old has more of a conscience than an adult. Yes there are other pressing matters facing this country. On the other hand, if this child and his siblings do not receive the appropriate attention now, how do you expect them to function in twenty years, thirty, forty years?”
