“My partner is from PR, She has natural kinky black hair and a cocoa complexion. I am Irish blonde caucasian male. We make a great couple in our 50's when we go to the beach. She always described herself as black or AA. When we met almost 6 yrs ago she was even lighter then she is now ..... so when she told me she was black I was ... No i don't think so, you are at most Cocoa. Lets just forget about the race thing .... anyway, her mom is more white, her father was very dark and is now passed away. We make such a big thing about race here in the U.S. ... but in another generation or two we will be mostly Cocoa .... It is our future ...”

“People, Speak with your wallet .... I have not shopped at a Walmart in 6- 8 years unless it was christmas eve and I needed tape or something .... I bulk at Costco once per month and shop my local discount grocers or even better, Publix. There are many other and better options than Walmart for clothes which even when I shopped there I thought were of the lowest quality. Appliances, tools, garden supply .... many better options then a company that mistreats its employees, offshores the products and takes all the savings to the stockholders. There was a time in America when it was customer service with a quality product first, then employees and corporate infrastructure then the stockholders. Now its only the stockholders that matter ...”

“Did you read the article ? The Always Lower Prices are being subsidized by the Taxpayer ... You and I are paying for their practices .... and contributing to the decline of the real small business .... you say the distance is the issue and thankfully a large multi-national corporation is the solution ? One that is costing the real economy ... if it is close to $900,000 in potential social support to a single store and there are what ? 4,000 stores ... and U want to Defend THEM ! You are not the real conservative a real conservative says everyone pays their own way and these companies are not ! Fair Pay is a cost of doing business ... look at Costco ... same business and completely different model.”

“I stopped shopping at Walmart 6 years ago. Never enter the place(s). The effect of such a predatory business on small towns and communities, the low wages and the crappy (mostly) clothes and products. Just not worth supporting. Over time I have observed and learned so much more about this company that just reinforces my view. I own a small, 16 person company in florida .... not a great state for business and we start and keep our employees at a living wage plus lots of overtime. A well motivated, well compensated workforce is the best competitive tool.”

“Sounds good would absolutely love to join you, just can't afford it. Gives me the chills thinking about it, but what choice do I have, eat less so I can send a message? I'm in Florida too, sucks that in order to live comfortably, it seems you must work lots of OT. I guess that's America though, work hard, play hard, too bad now there's less play, more like "Work hard, Stress hard" the play is now the work.”

Bobcat226 on May 31, 2013 at 15:22:00

“Blah, blah, blah. You have a TOTAL lack of understanding on the topic. Do you realized that Walmart is the LARGEST seller of groceries in the US and they put stores in markets that NO other large company would. Go to parts of Kansas, polulation 500 people and the closest supermarket is Walmart. Outside of that you'd drive 2 hours to find a big store.

You and your liberal policies FAIL”

“What? Surely you only watch Faux ..... that is totally wrong. Jeeze, do a little research ! I am against chained CPI and raising the retirement age. When will we wake up, only if the economy is robust will we reduce the deficit, only if we raise the deduction cap will we long term fund SS, which is not currently in danger, That is the fundamental truth. To stimulate tax collections we have to stimulate the economy ! Two fundamentals - change the tax code to eliminate fake write offs and tax avoidance and federal spending on infrastructure which has to be done before the bridges all fall down and the planes crash.”

“Actually, taxes do stimulate growth. A person or corporation with a low tax rate will keep the profits. If taxes are higher then I have the option to invest in my business with new equipment, additional employees or deductible benefits rather then pay the higher taxes. This increase in my infrastructure builds my business and adds jobs.
Higher taxes do stimulate growth.”

Yes, there have been distortions by the Presidents team, but Mitt has always been know to say anything, truth be damned, he has put out consistently misleading, misinformed and blatant lies since the start of the primaries. Stop watching Fake news and start reading for information, look for truth and you will see this President has governed right of center since the start. To my great disappointment, but it is true. He has actually goverend as the GOP says they will and then when elected never do.”

“I had the same situation at a local McD's with Fox. I asked them to change to either CNN or local news. The manager said he would talk with the owner and he agreed that a local or non-biased channel is more family appropriate. On our next Saturday morning visit, same Fox stuff. So we left and went and had a real breakfast elsewhere. Since breakfast is the only food I like at that chain and the cost works out to be about the same for real service and real food, we no longer visit any McD's.”

Spanking Children & Mental Health: Punishment Linked To Disorders Later In Life

Commented Jul 6, 2012 at 09:40:13 in Parents

“Okay, agreed with the study and results based on the question asked (as stated in the article)

Participants were asked, "As a child how often were you ever pushed, grabbed, shoved, slapped or hit by your parents or any adult living in your house?"

They did not ask specifically about the practice of spanking, they asked how often they were abused. So I am not sure I agree with the article title.

I was was spanked as a young child, My wife and I both spanked our children. When done as a correction and not abusive I do not think it is a terrible practice.”

arx754 on Jul 7, 2012 at 12:57:16

“I agree with you pretty much, but I can see where spanking can become a "slipperly slop".

I do wonder how many parents spank as a correction of child's behavior versus spank in uncontrollable anger.

(And, I'm not for a moment suggesting your parents or you fit the 2nd category versus the first. Many adults DO have the self-control, but some do not).”

Supreme Court Health Care Decision Coming Thursday

Commented Jun 25, 2012 at 14:04:20 in Politics

“Ugh? U are worried about the health of Insurance Companies? What are you nuts? One of the best things about the ACA is that it limits overheads and profits to 20%. They are not making Refunds to the policy holders ! Granted, they will run up the Cost of Doing Business so that does not happen again, but how many companies would like to be told you can make even 10 or 15% profits, these companies are at 20% of your dollars. Remember, they were at 35% to 40% profit and overheads. This is a huge savings for all Americans ! This is the best thing in ACA.”
