Perino: No Terrorist Attacks In America Under Bush (VIDEO)
Commented Nov 25, 2009 at 10:13:56 in Politics
“In most circumstances, something that happens just months into a president's term isn't the fault of his policies. But 9/11 probably could have been prevented had Bush taken seriously the memo warning that Al Qaeda was determined to strike within the U.S. So not only did 9/11 happen on Bush's watch, but his negligence failed to prevent it. Republicans conveniently forget this, while blaming unemployment on Obama.”
Joethepauper replied on Nov 25, 2009 at 10:32:54
“Right, and Bush did a sh!tty job of mitigating it while it was happening (Giuliani too). Instead of reading 'My Pet Goat' upside-down for 7 minutes, he should have been coordinating efforts to send helicopters to the roofs to evacuate the people caught between the fire and the roof (he does have the military under his control, after all). Guliani could have gotten on the horn with the movie studios to get some stunt mats for the jumpers. There were things that could have been done to save lives and they froze like deer in the headlights. Guliani was the genius who proposed that they set-up the emergency fire dept. headquarters in the mezzanine between the two buildings (which fell ON their headquarters. Zip lines could have been rigged to zip people to an adjacent building. The doors to the roofs were locked, the least they could have done is blow them open and evacuate the people who were trapped. If/when there is another attack, I hope we have leaders who can act decisively when it counts. Bush had prety much the same reaction to Katrina as he did with 9-11.”

Senate Health Care Vote Saturday
Commented Nov 21, 2009 at 10:03:55 in Politics
“Why do some people think rates will go up if this becomes law? If there's a public option the insurance companies would be in competition with the government and thus would not raise--and would possibly lower-- their premiums to stay competitive. The insurance companies should be happy with this legislation because it will mandate that people get insurance (just like with automobiles) and thus their customer base will increase by millions. Taxes will be raised only on insurance companies and the wealthy. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM???”
old lady replied on Nov 21, 2009 at 22:42:05
“What makes people think rates would not go up without health reform? Insurance premiums have been going up for the past 50 years as have deductible s... the only thing the private insurers are decreasing is coverage!!!!”
MacQ replied on Nov 21, 2009 at 10:54:18
“THe problem is that it creates a huge bureaucracy (at a cost), and that it spends alot of money. INdependent sources such as the CBO have said it will likely increase costs for those now insured, for employers (via the taxes it levies).
There are at least 12 new taxes proposed. Guess who pays those?
It will do nothing to lower the cost of healthcare itself (because it creates yet another deep pocket, which is what caused healthcare costs to rise in the first place.”

“The difference with auto insurance is that you do not have to buy it if you do no drive or if you do not own a car. Health insurance must be bought by everybody even if they do not want it.
There are many many families, specially those who live in border states. that have their medical care done in Mexico. Contrary to popular belief, many specialists in Mexico have been educated in the United States and there are excellent hospitals if you can pay for them. If you bring dollars they are not expensive.
Those families, many of them middle class, will now have to buy a health insurance policy and add even a bigger burden to their budget. Even if the government gives them a subsidy, they will still be stuck with an extra expense, bigger than they have now paying out of pocket when they need care.”
