“So you use the scary tactics of the GOP too?
No public option means the dems are useless even with POTUS congress Senate in their hands:
None will vote for the GOP instead but do not expect to win with blue dogs and african americnas only: the dems are screwing around with unions support, educated middle and upper class support, poor people support and especially hispanic support without the public option. What party do you want to be ? the one of "the roll me over I don't fight even when I am stronger and bigger?
Nobody likes to be in that party.”

When Gay Comes Home

Commented Jul 08, 2009 at 11:33:44 in Living

“Peggy, great article! I think that it is so sad that gay children have to experience these rejections. I know the stigma of being gay is global, but I have an extremely difficult time with my Black community and their resistance to the gay population. What is even sadder is that in our communities the institutions which have been some what of a back bone to my culture, are filled with gay people who play so many important roles, but are not accepted totally for who they really are. It is so sad and such a loss.
A confession on my part is that I use to hope that my son would not be gay ONLY because of such treatments. You add gay to his being a black male..... Jesus help us all! However, if eventually I found out that this is his orientation, I would NEVER reject my son, I love him. He is my flesh and blood that I underwent hours of labor pain to bring this boy into the world :o). Heck NO the boy is my life forever”

“"...I have an extremely difficult time with my Black community and their resistance to the gay population."

Hang in there. I too had an extremely difficult time with my White community and their resistance to the black population. Not anymore. My children have all decided to have their children with people of various racial/ethnic backgrounds. I don't have to talk about racism/discrimination anymore. I just walk down the street hand in hand with my grandchildren and people know I believe all people are created equal and beautiful. Now, its my white community that is having an extremely difficult time with our resistance to their bigotry. In one generation the trend has been reversed. Raise your children to love all people and they will. Its the only way to break down all resistance to understanding. People lose their fear of the other with familiarity with the other, whether its race, ethnicity, or sexual preference thats different. In my family now, straight people raise gay people and gay people raise straight people without incident. We have white, black, brown, yellow, and red racial lineages all converging in the next generation. And, that generation lives and plays together so skin color is about as significant as eye/hair color. We talk about light complexion and dark complexion, not skin colors. Skin color is only one description of appearance, not a character/cultural trait that fixes one's value as a person. Persistence furthers.”

We also learn that Tom Jefferson had the hots for Abigail Adams, who shacks up with Daniel Shays after she reveals her lesbian tendencies to her husband, the future president.

Meanwhile, Sam Adams is smoking "Vermont Vermilion" and America's colonial youth are all dancing to an English madrigal called "The Grateful Dead."

“Perhaps to most white folk this type of head wear is unfamiliar, but honey in Alabama at the conferences of some churches ( hold on, not only in Alabama because I know that women come from North, South, East and West to these church conferences) I remember going to one and when the Bishops wives marched in, it was a sight to see. In fact many of the older Black women were waiting to see who had on what type of hat. This is a part of My culture, in other culture this may be considered a fashion faux pas, but in my culture, this is very sacred and preciious. Aretha looked wonderful in her bow hat. (Keep in mind that there are subcultures within cultures and this is the culture of which I speak)
I will bet you that this hat is THE bomb at the Big Meeting conferences this year. :o)

Lindsey you are wrong about this one honey and be very careful, this may be considered highly offensive. Let's respect culture okay. :o)”

John McCain: Dumb and Plumber

Commented Nov 01, 2008 at 10:07:46 in Chicago

“Unless you are rich, John McCain believes that you are very STUPID. I am not saying ignorant because there is a big difference. John McCain has probably never in his life hung out with a guy like Joe the Plumber. John McCain is a hypocritical biggot who is exploiting these people at his rallies. He is using Joe and Sarah because they are not a part of the uppercrust crowd that he would go out to dinner with. He was misguided by the media who showed him so much love because he fed them barbeque. He sees media persons, and average people as if they a peasants. He believes himself to be superior and therefore these people are really beneath him.”

carolsstudio replied on Nov 01, 2008 at 12:11:21

Americans are out of work, America has lost international respect and moral authority, Iraq,
Bin Laden, $10 billion a month sent to Iraq, the ECONOMY, 401k's, college funds and, investments diminished, Wall Street, THE NATIONAL DEBT...

Is CNN Trying to Make This Race Closer?

Commented Oct 31, 2008 at 01:05:36 in Media

“I absolutely hate CNN and every time I try to listen to them, all I can hear is how Obama said this that was not true according their truth squad. Campbell Brown is desperately trying to make a name for herself and I see her as a fussy house wife that need to have something to discuss with her husband to make him interested in her again. AC 360 is was really takes the cake for me because he and Candy and Dana together are a BS feast. Obama can never do anything right. He can never win this election according to them. I don't understand why Candy is following Obama because she is like the angel of death for his camp. GO Home Candy!
Never any kudos for how successfully Obama has run this campaign. They wanted to be fair and balanced and would not allow Obama his 30 min infomercial, but they could give John McCain an opportunity to whine about O not having town meetings with him and making this campaign period dirty.
No mentioning about Palin's dealings with the Alaska Independence Party, but Anderson Cooper can hardly wait to play Jeremiah Wright's video. I think he gets a cheap thrill from this.
CNN disgust me.”

NotMcCain replied on Oct 31, 2008 at 02:12:04

“You are so right on all counts. When McCain starts whining about Obama's "favorable" treatment, I wonder, "Does he ever watch CNN?"

They omit 99% of the bad facts reported about McCain and Palin (and only cover the remaining 1% brieflywhen it's BIG). But if there's anything -slightly- negative about Obama---whether false or not--they're all over it all day (sometimes day after day after day).

Cooper's an embarrassment. Dobbs HATES Obama. Blitzer and his "best political team" including Bush's "Dulce" (sorry, Candy) Crowley pound away at Obama every day over the most trivial nonsense (and can't repeat McCain talking points often enough).

Blitzer-Dobbs-Cooper. What is that? 7 hours a night of spinning for McCain and against Obama? What the heck is McSame whining about? CNN is FAR more favorable to him--including repeating his lies and smears without correcction.

Disgusting, indeed.”

As a mother of two children who had no special needs, I am concerned that we are not looking at the picture correctly. She wants praises for a son who entering a military commitment because she wants to take credit for this. I say that if she wants credit for Track going into service, she should also take credit in her underage daughter's pregnancy. Sunday Roundup

Commented Sep 07, 2008 at 14:05:30 in Politics

“Listen up teachers, police officers, Behavioral health workers, social workers, and all you people whose pay grade is below 250,000. The Republican party does not support you. They are not for the working class people. During their convention, they mocked community workers who are grassroots people helping to lift people up and create positive changes for American life.

The Republicans support corporations and lobbyist and are boldly proclaiming that by turning their noses up toward community work. They believe in tax breaks for those who have money and say that this this money will trickle down to you, but it has not for EIGHT YEARS! I know my Rep. friends say that the party support their beliefs. The problem with this is that you cannot legalize morals.

This is America, the land of the free and the home of the brave. People are free to believe what they choose and that is that. What Palin believes and what happened in her family is example. We cannot choose the choices for people even our children. People have make choices about these social issues individually.

So what if a Black man is your president? At least your country's unemployment rate will go down and you will have jobs, factory restored ,green power produced for your children & grandchildren, your children will have great educations, access to healthcare,& you will have troops home. Plus a more respectable relationship with the world, and the list is endless of what ordinary people can accomplish together.”
