WaPo Unleashes Army Of Anonymous Sources To Slag Public Option

“I am getting tired of the PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR A TRUE DEMOCRACY not being heard. We voted for majorities in the congress and senate and got them. What is the problem with having health care for all citizens in this country? If the insurance companies are nervous about it, TOUGH! The Republican Party supports the corporations. They are spreading lies and preying on the fears of the elderly and uneducated. It is ludicrous that we are even arguing about something that will benefit all of our citizens.

The Democrats need to get their act together, forget about working with the Republicans who will vote AGAINST the initiative anyway and do what the they were voted in to accomplish. It is about time we become on par with the rest of the industrialized countries and take care of our citizens.

Let's do it!”

“People who think Democrats don't work for big company's or special interest groups need a reality check. Who lines David Axelrod's pocket with money? Big pharm does. I could make a list... for both sides.”

Sebelius: Public Health Care Option "Not The Essential Element"

Commented Aug 16, 2009 at 15:35:47 in Politics

“What are they doing? The Democrats are in 'power' right now. Why should they even care about compromise? If the PEOPLE want a Public Option, then do it. Forget about the repubs. If the Democrats drop the public option, the repubs won't vote for the Healthcare Initiative anyway. That has been their pattern. Why do we keep falling for this 'maneuver'?”

pearlx2 replied on Aug 16, 2009 at 15:57:46

“Never forget that all 60 Democrats are not "real" Democrats -- some of them are Republicans who ran under the name of Democrat -- they are called Blue Dogs, and they don't necessarily vote with the President. They do not want the public option. It is they who are holding up the progressive health care plan -- not the Republicans, so we can all stop yelling about Obama trying to compromise with the Republicans. If he had the full support of his own party, he wouldn't need Republicans now, would he?”

CaptainVideo replied on Aug 16, 2009 at 15:40:18

“"What are they doing? The Democrats are in 'power' right now. Why should they even care about compromise?"

The misuse of the filibuster rule has undermined majority rule in the Senate. It takes 60 votes to get anything passed there. Even if all the blue dogs were kept in line, Senator Kennedy may well be too sick to vote.”

happycat replied on Aug 16, 2009 at 15:39:35

“My thoughts exaclty. Why doesn't Obama role over the Republicans, the way Bush did to the Democrats. Compromise on health care? No thank you. We need to demand real change.”

Jindal Response 'Nihilism': David Brooks

Commented Feb 25, 2009 at 15:57:50 in Politics

“This just about sums up Jindal and the republican party:

A person who cannot genuinely empathize with others can never excel as a leader. So much of what ails society today is the result of too many people in leadership positions who do not or cannot identify with the plight of their fellow men and women. It is in enduring pain and struggles that the earth of our humanity is cultivated. And it is from this earth that a capacity to be genuinely concerned for the welfare of others blossoms. - Daisaku Ikeda

It galls me that he and other Republican governors would put their own communities at risk just to follow the 'party line'. He needs to have his head examined.”

livelongandprosper replied on Feb 25, 2009 at 16:10:37

“Huh!? The reason that we are in this mess is that there was too much empathy. The Fed managed interest rates into the basement so we never experienced a blip on the economic growth chart. Had to keep the housing boom going so we could buy the flat screen TVs and go on vacation. Had to make mortgages affordable because housing was too expensive. Now we have to bail everyone out.

Maybe we should have empathy because the gov lead the people down this path, but the societal shift we are encountering right now will reduce our standard of living for generations.

Empathy is a great trait in a parent, but the best parents dole out some tough love every once and awhile..”
