Can Science Resurrect God? New Scenario Says 'Yes'

“Of course you are a staunch advocate of science - you're an atheist. You've only mentioned it six times in this thread.
I completely understand what you are saying, that left leaning people should be understanding and patient with these people.
What the vast majority of my liberal and atheist colleges don't understand is that reasonable arguments will not sway unreasonable people. Trying to drag these people up to anything resembling intelligent discourse is completely futile. We've been trying to talk sense into them for years, and we've made compromise after compromise to satisfy their superstitions and stupidity.
If more people would call them out on their stupid beliefs, perhaps we wouldn't be in the situation we are in now. Instead we have to be nice while they flush the country down the toilet in the name of god, the free market, and whatever other ridiculous fact free argument they want to muster.
In short: Why try to meet them halfway when they aren't even coming?”

How is this reform? This is corporate profits. There will be no competition because insurance companies will get together and begin price-fixing their services to insure profit.
In short: Republicans and democrats just came together to make every american pay companies as a mandatory part of life. How is that fair?”

And I can understand your anger at the hypocrites who use religion as a money machine and are mostly from the south. But the point we are trying to make is that to indulge in the same stereotyping and ad hominem attacks as a tea bagger does a dis-service to people who believe in reason and science. It puts us down to the same level as people who draw pictures of Obama with a ring through his nose. I've known several people from the south who were very intelligent and liberal.”

Legal Battles Rage Over E-Book Rights To Old Books
Commented Dec 13, 2009 at 00:42:29 in Books
“The state of copyright laws is pretty disgusting. Companies like the music industry suck the life out of the creative people who do all of the work, while ironically suing others infringing on their copyright and pretend like these people are stealing from the original author.
There needs to be a complete revamp, and companies shouldn't be allowed to hold copyrights at all. Copyrights are made by individuals, and should remain with the individual. If a company wants to purchase a temporary right to distribute, then that should be allowed, but as is companies are just stealing and exploiting hard working people.
Luckily, their ability to adapt to the information age is so lacking that they are losing literally billions.”

“Girls hit guys all the time, I think what he means to say is that chivalry in the modern sense is sexist. You can slap us in the face or punch us in the balls and expect no repercussions whatsoever.
Sorry, I don't buy into that. You hit some one, expect to be treated like a man, because you have just completely voided chivalry as a social contract.
I think also what he means is that certain feminists do take equality too far, and cut into mens own rights, effectively going from negative rights (equal treatment) to the idea of positive rights (you have to treat me better than people of a a different sex). The latter being completely wrongheaded.”
