Before I typed "conservatives", I typed "pro-lifers". I thought... hold on? Just because I'm pro-choice doesn't mean I'm not Pro-Life. I'm Pro-Life in the true sense of the statement!
-I'm Pro-life for the mother who has that 10 week old zygote in her and is about to kill her
-I'm Pro-life for the soldier who is going to be sent to Afghanistan to fight an unwinnable war
-I'm Pro-Life for the cancer patient who gets kicked out their insurance because of being beaten by their spouse.
Hard Right Republicans are the least Pro-Life of the American Citizenry. That's the amazing hippocracy of it all!”

Real conservatives want the government to stay out of everyone's lives, (though I realize the Republican party has effectively taken over that term, they use it incorrectly).”

Really? It scares me. I'd rather have control of the vehicle I'm driving. In what other cases would they be authorized to mess with your car's speed? What if "they" (whoever they are) screw up and think you're driving while intoxicated (except that you aren't) and now they don't even let you start your car? What if the system breaks and slows the car or prevents it from working at all, uncommanded?
Again, I'd prefer to not relinquish my vehicle's control to an outside party. Too much risk of it working against me (safety and freedom concerns).”

“Pagoas, you must no NOTHING of business.
In Marketing, there is something called the Product Life Cycle.
1. Market introduction stage
costs are high, slow sales volumes to start, little or no competition - competitive manufacturers watch for acceptance/segment growth losses,
demand has to be created,
customers have to be prompted to try the product,
makes no money at this stage
2. Growth stage
costs reduced due to economies of scale
sales volume increases significantly
profitability begins to rise
public awareness increases
competition begins to increase with a few new players in establishing market
increased competition leads to price decreases
3. Mature stage
costs are lowered as a result of production volumes increasing and experience curve effects
sales volume peaks and market saturation is reached, increase in competitors entering the market, prices tend to drop due to the proliferation of competing products
brand differentiation and feature diversification is emphasized to maintain or increase market share, Industrial profits go down
4. Saturation and decline stage
costs become counter-optimal, sales volume decline or stabilize prices, profitability diminish
profit becomes more a challenge of production/distribution efficiency than increased sa”

“OK try this from a different perspective.
1. GM (outside of Tesla) is going to produce this "battery heavy" vehicle, while in the meantime
2. Toyota, Honda, Ford are going with hybrids. Toyota and Honda have the market advantage (not to mention the R&D engineering history) with hybrids, as theirs were introduced in 2000 to 2001 (if memory serves).
Now I ask the readers of these comments to review your marketing thoughts but with hybrid vehicles in mind. I do find it interesting GM's CEO resigns and I read this Volt article. The Volt is not ready, the batteries are not ready.”

“Hey jkpcguru--don't condescend the regulars with your theories.
Not everyone can be a marketing maven. There are many 'exceptions'
to the Product Life Cycle theory and so few 'rules' to actually render the
concept meaningless (at times). Among the holes in the theory (for alternative
/green fuel vehicles) is there is no set amount of time that a product must
stay in any stage; each product is different and moves through the stages
at different times. Also, the four stages you list are not the same time period
in length, which is often overlooked. This should be noted, especially in the
failed American auto industry that, among other things is using 'our' money to
finally get 'the product' right.”
