“I think she is applying the pop formula in a brilliant way. That is what it takes to be mainstream successful, so thats what she does. But if you have heard her perform her songs acoustically, she is actually a great talent and has an underlying theme to most of what she does.

“No, having hit singles does not automatically mean somebody has talent. But you cannot deny that Lady Gaga does.
She learned to play piano at the age of 4 and attended the NYU School of the Arts. She writes all her own songs (and songs for other artists) and NEVER lip syncs. She is one of the most talented performers in today's mainstream.
As for Britney Spears, she may not be the most talented performer, but she certainly does have some natural talent. Otherwise, she would not have done so well as a child singing and performing on shows like Star Search.
Just because someone is a mainstream pop star does not make them talented, but it also does not automatically exclude them from it.”

What's Next After Twitter, Facebook? They're Not Dead Yet

“As a college student, I think I can safely say that Myspace is moribund. The general view held by college students is that myspace is for middle schoolers and over-eager adults. Although it allows for much more personal tailoring, Myspace profiles are more for adolescents trying to find themselves than adults who want to keep in contact with friends (old and new) and colleagues.
Facebook has definitely not lost its appeal, but a more appealing alternative could always be right around the corner.
Everyone that I know has rejected Twitter as a poor alternative to facebook status updates. But Twitter is great for professionals and other adults who don't obsessively post things to facebook the way young people do. Twitter is not so much about the socializing as the networking.”

Lady Gaga's Bloody Look Hits Milan Runway: Gross Or Groundbreaking? (POLL)
Commented Sep 24, 2009 at 03:21:22 in Style
“I think just because the person involved is sexy does not mean that violence is being glorified. .. the Lady Gaga performance was not about her being sexy it was about her being a martyr for love and for fame.
The use of fake blood is definitely not groundbreaking, but at least in the case of Lady Gaga it had a purpose.
Just my thoughts.”

“I can buy this I suppose if it was part of overall performance. If that is the case, then these pictures are merely the photo equivalent of a five second soundbite on the nightly news and certainly don't tell the whole story.
I just find it disturbing when there is so much real violence against women every day all over the world. But maybe that was the intended effect. Who knows.”

As a country, we place so much emphasis on one attack when other countries suffer such occurrences often. It is not "tasteless" in the least.”

I don't understand the outrage. Do we all throw fits over companies like Abercrombie that hire almost exclusively attractive white college students and only rarely include minorities in ads?
Marketing decisions are business decisions that have nothing to do with any kind of racism or insensitivity. If their research shows ads with black people don't sell as well, do people expect them to include one purely for the sake of diversity?”

Sotomayor Cartoon In The Oklahoman Comes Under Fire
Commented Jun 04, 2009 at 08:58:14 in Media
“As a Hispanic person, I do not find this cartoon the least bit offensive.
Its making a good point about Republican treatment of Sotomayor while cleverly utilizing a culturally-relevant metaphor. The reality is that Sotomayor is proud of being latina and the metaphor only goes further to emphasize that.
Even if the pinata is originally of Mexican origin, the semantics of cultural nuances aren't really important here. This cartoon is not hateful and it is not inappropriate, it is using a cultural tradition to humorously express a serious political issue; in a way that is more reverent than racist.
Get over it.”

Also, regardless of what I think of Joe's politics, hes right about Chuck's tie.”
