“It's still not enough. We want single payer. We want it now.

Insurance can pick up the stuff government doesn't pay for and pay to get us through lines. Businesses who want to hire need single payer to get the monkey off their backs. Executives who have gold-plated policies want to keep them too and they CAN with single payer. Middle class workers can sort through whether they can afford expensive plans or live with public doctor services.

It's so obvious that this is the way to go it's painful.

30% of the money spend on health care goes to the insurance companies before dollar one gets paid. Medicare gets a comparable 2% to handle it's administration.

Add rules for data consistency, negotiating prices down for drugs, and you have a perfect storm of improvement for America.

Get wise, Obama. Help out now.”

“If you want single payer as I do, you will have to elect Senators and Representatives who will vote for it.

Our Representative is against single payer and we are going to replace him come 2010.

Groups all across the country are putting forth candidates to replace these corporate shills.

Find a group, start a group, get involved and let's replace these people.

If we don't vote against them, they win.”

“Seriously, insurance takes 30% off the top before it delivers dollar one of care. Medicare costs 2% before it pays up, AND Medicare has no pre-existing conditions exclusions. By this measure, shifting to single payer will release 28% of the medical bills to the medical needs providers. Get it?”

“Abandoning Glass Steagal was a colossal blunder. Getting true health care reform instead of a sop to the insurance and pharmaceutical industry, not so much.

I can think of a few other colossal legislative blunders but not on your watch, Bill. The war in Iraq was a big one. Secret renditions... wasn't that yours too? The misnamed Patriot Act. The Bush tax cuts. Failure to ratify Kyoto.

Nope. Calling this a colossal blunder is clearly not an accurate label.”

“On balance Al has made friends with this move. It's about time someone started getting the stopwatch out and enforcing rules of the Senate on time wasting. He let the remarks, which were written out before hand, be put into the record. Lieberman has had enough of a soap box and get's enough attention already.

Also, since when is it ever a good idea to let a windbag drone on when there is work to be done? When one drops by my office and I can't get him to shut up, I get out of my chair and if he doesn't take the hint, I go get coffee or go to the can, or if he's particularly persistent, tell him I have a meeting I must attend and head for the car.”

“Many are saying that a bad bill is better than no bill. I say bollox.

Clean Water Act started out well and got eroded. The Clean Air act has a slightly better history. The Organic labeling acts have been mixed, but they were begun to take power away from the people to monitor their own food supply and give it to the food industry. Combined with protections sought and achieved by the meat processors and chemical and pharmaceutical industries, health and safety are in jeopardy every day from our food supply.

You will point to Social Security and how it was expanded or Medicare as your examples, no?

Let's look at the Medicare Drug Benefits history to find a counter example. http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/washingtonpost/access/1003325561.html?dids=1003325561:1003325561&FMT=ABS&FMTS=ABS:FT&type=current&date=Mar+15%2C+2006&author=Michael+A.+Fletcher&pub=The+Washington+Post&desc=Medicare+Drug+Benefit+Works%2C+Bush+Says&pqatl=google

“We have compromised our lives away already. It's time to fight. Only the unreasonable man makes significant change. The lying R's have been unreasonable long enough. It's the people's turn. We've had enough compromising with the MIC, with the fossil fuel industry, with the food industry, with the financiers and banksters. ENOUGH!

It is way past time to take back our government from the special interests. Blood? You say we won't get it? These special interests have sucked enough of ours. To hell with them. We elected Obama. We gave him a "Democratic Majority" in BOTH houses of Congress to work with. He took single payer off the table from the start, not us. These frickin "representatives" dumped all meaningful reform out the window in compromise after compromise with the entrenched denial of care industrialists.

How dare you ask for another compromise? Read the article from the lady who helped Joe Lieberman get elected and what this compromise promises for her brain cancer care. Then see if you can answer me.”

We are not against reform. This bill is not reform, Bill. Let's go back to the drawing board and take the House version through reconciliation or simply start over from the position of Single Payer. Your wife is putting up 100 billion on climate change promises, it's the least we can do here - get a bill which panders to people instead of insurance giants.”
