“I feel sorry for those dogs. Humans enslave animals as pets, then don't take care of them properly.

Dogs are scavengers. Ultimately they will eat any food they can find anywhere.

I'm sure they will be great pets if their new owners take proper care of them.”

“Slaves? Most pets are treated better than royalty.”

tttony replied on Dec 22, 2009 at 01:22:44

“Pets are favorites, by definition. Slaves are livestock, by definition.

Slight difference.

Pets are treated well with no expectation of a 'return'. Slaves, exactly the opposite.”

“"It's much more complex..."

What so complex about freedom for everyone?”

heidi kerr replied on Dec 21, 2009 at 21:08:01

“The current law doesn't allow this, a separate law had to be created for civil unions but it can't for marriages, plus as I already stated there are two new magistrates, both from the president's party which means they have a lot of preassure to overule this law. Freedom I get, but laws and politics are complex, specially in a politically torn country.”

They know that if there were another 9/11 or similar, the Constitution would be thrown away and a lot of their people would be the ones in power. Many of them would love to create a theocratic government.”

Godweiser replied on Dec 20, 2009 at 15:22:30

“Not that I really agree with the armchair commando saying, "Them boys need a taste-uh real WAR to grow thaim up some" but the military is a cross-section of society, so you do end up with your share of loozers.

However, I somehow doubt Mr. "Make 'em serve" has any idea what combat is like or he wouldn't discuss it so cavalierly.

As Pindar once said, "War is sweet to those who have never experienced it" and a lot of conservative, particularly the hardcore authority loving, might makes right types, are like Winnie the Pooh confronted with a honey jar or something.”

“Don't bet on it. Follow up on some of the DC TV stations.

First thing - the uniformed officer responding recognized the detective. I watched the ABC News video, and you can hear the uniformed officer tell the detective to put his gun away.

Second thing - from the photos in the newspaper & Flickr, as well as the YouTube and TV news videos, someone has a prima facie case for assault.

There's clearly no basis for a defense claiming he was acting in his official capacity. He pulls a gun and starts waving it around. He never displays his badge.

At a minimum his career is over. He could possibly end up in jail.”

But no one thinks about the guy who's gotta go make the donuts.”
