“jones:
well put. I to found it astounding that a soldier so publicly at odds with the 2 wars, which I'm also against; was not discharged? Clearly regardless of faith he was mentally unfit to serve. Indeed so obvious is this fact that it took only a few hours to discover. Where were his superiors? Why did the other soldiers who heard his comments not report him? What is it about Military culture that blinded them?
I suspect that because we are so stretched that regardless of being behind a desk no one, no matter how unfit is discharged... except if they're Gay or Lesbian.
Our Military commanders need a dressing down. There is no excuse as this murderer was not hiding and in plain sight.”

“People should have been more proactive how? Put him in prison because he expressed his beliefs? Lock him up in a mental hospital because he was unhappy? Had anything been done against this guy, it would have been labeled as racial profiling/religious discrimination. Thanks to political corectness.”

Commented Nov 04, 2009 at 16:01:11 in Politics
“I am truly sorry that same-sex marriages were voted down in Maine. However, I firmly believe this type of discrimination will end very soon. Most people now recognize exactly what you say and have gay people within their family. Its just not the same as it was 10 or so years ago. Its corporate religion at its absolute worst.

I'm helping care-give for a parent since there is no help within the immediate community they live within
I'm not insured
Yeah... the audacity of hope is going to be a very long road.... But I still have faith, not so much in Obama but in the hope that Obama injected into this country. Its still alive. I live in a rural, conservative town in north/west NY but after a brief visit to NYC, I was reminded of how much Obama has changed this country...if only just a little. I house-sat for a couple in a neighborhood in Brooklyn where white was the minority. It just seemed to me after being absent from city life for over 2 years, that suddenly there was a new pride in people of color. You could just sense it.”

“Hey Jones.... I could be your twin. Unemployed. Live in north-western NY. Moved here from the city to be near my 80 year old mum. I've got insurance but, between that and the heating bills I'm going to go broke. I've got to say I don't understand why Summers and Geithner were brought on board. I really think we (the American public) are being sold out to corporate insiders. Industry is dead in this country. Unlike the great crash of '29, we won't have the jobs to bring this economy back. I feel the future is bleak.”

“Holy shit, people. Try to learn!
The point by Repugsout08 is that Obama doesn't WANT real reform. If he did want real reform, he'd have some fire in the belly, and he would have one strong plan and stick to it. Notice: He doesn't have a plan! He doesn't stick to his stated goals. One day even the public option is only a "sliver" of the reform effort. Oh, hell, I'm wasting my time, aren't I?
Well, the reason is clear: Obama is working for the corporations, not for us.
HuffPost has a very good post by Larry Flynt. Go to that now and learn something.”

“My years as a programmer brought me together with quite a few Eastern Europeans. I still get emails from them. When BO was elected PRes, they commented that in Russia, many Russians are very into the superiority of the Russian people and that black or brown people are considered ape-ish and ugly.
If true, that may explain the somewhat indifferent behavior of the Russian people to the Obama visit. I hope somehow if it is true, that with time, Russians will realize they need to grow up. (Americans need to do the same about their view of the world but Russians gotta let go of their own jimcrow worldview. )”

“I kind of like the arabian nights look of some of the clothing. I love the harem pants. I've always loved big billowy pants... they are so comfy and feel pretty.
I could see a blend of western and eastern themes in fashion and yes, the author made a good point that men see you for your intellect and not your form when wearing a loose gown i/o of tight fitted, uncomortable western clothes....
I've noticed the head scarves in Iran lately on the streets and they are really pretty. I might start wearing one just because they are so attractive.”

“Interesting blog. It sheds lite on reality and how the big news media spin it to their favor. The current Iranian Rev. is wonderful and terrible to watch at the same time because as an American, I identify with the crowd's anger against the vote-rigging. I am haunted by the death of Neda and others that I saw on youtube videos.
I hope Prez Obama will do the right thing and stay out of the current revolution and just trust whatever happens, hopefully better times and days could be possible.”
