“Bill, thank you so much for telling truth to power.

America doesn't have a National Will anymore. Since the New Right came to power in the late 70s, they replaced a National Will with a National Won't

We WON'T look out for a common interest.
We WON'T lift a finger to help anyone else
We WON'T work together for common good
We WON'T make a better world because TV Preachers have sold us the rapture.
We WON'T believe things can get better because churches tell us it doesn't matter.
We WON'T unionize because everyone's looking for the cheese that moved away.
We WON'T work for better days, because the corporate press tells us the 50s were the best time we ever had.”

“Nice post! Yes i agree we find ourselves in one big mess of a situation. There is still the strong possibility for change, but it's not going to be easy. There are people out there who are willing to kill or to die in order to prevent any meaningful change. They are anti-government, anti-immigrant, anti-gay, anti-healthcare,anti-education, etc, and while most Americans are sitting back waiting on change to happen, they're working their butts off to see that it doesn't. These folks are home schooled, and fed a daily diet of anti-everything just mentioned.

They give voice to organizations like the "birthers and deathers," and they march to the beat of the "3 headed monster,"(Beck,Limbaugh and Hannity). When we wanted change in the way African American were treated in this country, the good and decent people got off their behinds and worked and marched for change. the racist conservatives on the right were moved to the side, as the message of change became a reality.

It's going to take a tremendous effort on the part of the people to get a health care reform package that we can be proud of. The president is trying to lead the way, but the only noise we're hearing is from his detractors. Come on America, we can do better than that!!!

The Story That Made Me Tear Up My Prepared Speech at a Big Education Conference

Commented Sep 10, 2009 at 00:17:15 in Politics

“Arianna, I read what you wrote and it brought tears to my eyes.

I remember that Hubert Humphrey said that the great moral test of a society is how it treats those in the dawn of light, the children, those in the twilight of light, the elderly, and those who through no fault of their own live in the shadows and never see the light, the disabled, the disadvantaged, the exploited, the discarded.

This society is failing that moral test. It didn't fail this test when President Roosevelt fought the Depression or President Johnson fought the War on Poverty, but it's failed the test ever since Johnson left the White House. Are we going to pick up where they left off, or will we still worship the selfishness of Ayn Rand?”

...He was also...about the "only one" that the "Moral Machinery" couldn't actually find anything to actually "use" against...so they created lies, and innuendos against...and won...because they also "had" the media at the time...

“Mr. Sutherland, thank you so much for standing up to fight for us. My family was shafted by Blue Cross to the point that when my father died, Wells Fargo seized his home because he defaulted on the mortgage he took out to cover bills Blue Cross had refused to pay. No other developed country forces people to go broke to pay doctor bills. It is a disgrace and shame upon this nation and it has to stop. I've seen health care reform derailed twice in my lifetime, 1974 and 1994. I saw how the insurance companies poured millions of dollars into California to stop Single Payer in 1994, and how they put enough cash into Arnold's pocket to veto single payer not once, but twice. I'm not going to wait another 20 years before we try again. I'm calling Baucus' office and I'm telling them I will call every day until Medicare for All is passed.”

“Why did the mainstream media show only the disruptors?”

Coastalthinker2 replied on Aug 04, 2009 at 01:57:27

“Because there is a psychological impact on people when they see protesters on the "news" against health care reform. People begin to think negatively about it which is what they want to accomplish. The corporate owned mainstream media has shown very little TRUE information on health care reform which might help people make informed decisions.”

proggirl replied on Aug 04, 2009 at 00:24:29

“And why doesn't the mainstream media expose their game by showing the teabaggers' political action memo:

– Artificially Inflate Your Numbers: “Spread out in the hall and try to be in the front half. The objective is to put the Rep on the defensive with your questions and follow-up. The Rep should be made to feel that a majority, and if not, a significant portion of at least the audience, opposes the socialist agenda of Washington.”

– Be Disruptive Early And Often: “You need to rock-the-boat early in the Rep’s presentation, Watch for an opportunity to yell out and challenge the Rep’s statements early.”

– Try To “Rattle Him,” Not Have An Intelligent Debate: “The goal is to rattle him, get him off his prepared script and agenda. If he says something outrageous, stand up and shout out and sit right back down. Look for these opportunities before he even takes questions.”
