“What you say is the absolute truth. Ever since Reagan came into power, we've had the endless mantra against big government pounded into our heads by our corporate controlled media. The same media that keeps telling us how terrible the Canadian health care system is, how people wait years to get the cancer surgery they need, and how people wait and wait and wait in lines at the ER for rationed care. Funny how my Canadian friends laugh at these allegations. Sadly, millions of Americans are brainwashed into believing them!”

Senate Democrats Consider Nightmare Scenario On Health Care
Commented Dec 13, 2009 at 11:59:59 in Politics
“Gee, I wonder why Single Payer hasn't been scored...C ould it be that the pimps running the health insurance scams bought off enough Senators?”
StJames replied on Dec 14, 2009 at 08:21:50
“As the debate continues I have come to realize that the real problem is that none of the proposals offered up by the Democrats will effectively reverse the tide of rising health care costs. AND it is not enough to just stem that tide...hea lth care costs must be driven down from their present level. Today it takes 3.9 workers to cover the costs of 1 Medicare recipient. ..there are almost 45 million enrolled in Medicare today...in 2013 the first of the 79 million strong Baby Boom generation will be eligible.
Health care needs to be SOCIALIZED. The government should be running all of it. Google the Blood industry in this country... freely donated blood has turned into a multi-billion dollar industry. If the United States owned every resource on the globe it would not be enough to cover the health care costs of our citizens, using the present "for profit" model, 20 or 30 years from now.
Single Payer as presently proposed is not the answer. Costs MUST be driven down. Probably the best way to do that is to go back to the old business model...ca tastrophic coverage. Americans will hate it...but the future of health care in this country is very bleak if someone is not willing to bite the bullet.”

“The health insurance companies have been pimping off of health care professionals long enough. They need to be nationalized and their corporate mission changed to one of providing funds for health care instead of NOT providing health care. The CEOs and top management can keep their ill-gotten gains. They can even keep their jobs but their mission would no longer be to generate obscene profits for themselves at the expense of the patients. They should not be entitled to continue to exploit health care for their own greedy benefit. That is one entitlement that we can do without !””

This is a serious question for HuffPost readers. What effective options to we have now, and in the future? I feel that WE must act now. Perhaps an online network could be started -- not connected to political support Obama (who is in the "save the health insurance companies" pot with the rest of them). Suggestions?”
