“Thanks a lot, Dan, that's funny. I guess I'm an eclectic addict for applying it everywhere and doing the math in my head... I have fun in the real world with it. It's fun too to conjecture, extrapolate, and experiment to a certain degree. In the cosmos there's room and a need for it all.”

“Dan, obviously, the science of reading and comprehension is not your long suit. let me take you back a ways. The discovery of fire and other energy sources... the tools and wheel... mathematics, what have engineers done with these to date?? As more information is available, we develop new processes that produce what you use in your little comfort zone every day. We also understand things that we don't understand... but I can teach what I do understand. My teacher bet me $20 (about $100 today) that I couldn't. I could teach as like as no one could ask a question I couldn't answer. As you have heard from your idols, "the universe doesn't care what you think or believe".... nor do I.”

“Dan, I'm just saying without conjecture, or extrapolation, that my life's work is engineering.... applying scientific information and discovery to the real world that you experience every day. The "Cosmos" theories are not reality to date. Blame it on the negative energy and dark particles you're smoking. Don't think for a moment that these claims have not been a part of me since I stunned my science and biology class and teacher in the early sixties with my presentation and knowledge of the universe.”

dmizzo on Mar 18, 2014 at 09:54:17

“You gave a great presentation in middle school, and you think that qualifies you to discuss cosmology? That's pretty funny. You have no idea what you're talking about. Regardless of your job, your comments make it clear you aren't equipped to discuss or understand this. Why don't you let those who do enjoy this moment and take your total lack of understanding of the subject elsewhere?”

“My wonderful and intelligent college Logic teacher said, "The more we know about less and less..... we will soon know everything about nothing". In engineering all my life, I have always been astonished. I love it... but science as a new religion is absurd. Some people will "believe" anything conjectured, extrapolated or calculated by scientists. The people who "discovered" how to take money from people on the internet are in jail.”

“Appears to be more philosophy than logic, a very common error. Even intelligent college professors (not only "teachers") make that error. Logic is really one philosophy among other choices. Although I can't dispute the logic.”

“Maybe this was revealed by the "God particle"?? One more thing that never existed until some genius "discovered" it or calculated it on his scientific Texas Instrument?? Suddenly scientific conjecture and extrapolation is becoming a new religion. The son of the God particle that came from outer space on a meteorite has forgiven all your sins.... was it an amoeba or a fungus?? Now exactly how do we get to the closest star in our lifetime? I'd settle for beaming to New York and back in one piece. What about baggage charges??... SOOOO many more questions than answers.”

ColleenHarper on Mar 17, 2014 at 15:46:28

“Well, we've proved there's no room in the physical universe for this god-person you idolize. Therefore, let him remain outside the universe, on the other side of the Big Bang. That's the only place left for him to exist.

Remember the Tower of Babel? At 100 feet, it reached to heaven.
Remember the bowl of the sky on which the stars and planets moved? Heaven was only a few thousands of feet above our heads?
Remember Galileo? Then heaven had to be beyond them.
We realized the Milky Way was a galaxy filled with stars. Heaven had to be beyond that!
Oh, my! All those nebulae? Those are other galaxies!! I'm sure heaven can't be much farther away?

And now we have very firm evidence that the Big Bang occurred 13.7 billion years ago and that our universe is at least 40 trillion light years across. Now heaven has to be a LOT farther off. Farther and farther and farther and farther ...

You were saying?”

We were young, strong, vibrant, and active..... and still are 45 years later. She always returned to her 110-115 lb weight, the stretch marks and loose skin remained to some degree and the bikinis evolved into one piece or two piece suits..... Everyone knows that a woman's body is an attraction but true love is truly blind to many things. We did a lot of research before the babies and continued afterward and followed the doctor's orders.”

“Cudos to you smac,..... Apparently there are people who have never had a course involving government finance or commercial paper. The U.S. monetary system is now based on a "promise to pay" rather than silver or gold backed currency. The form of any national currency, no matter what, is only as "good" as the country that backs it and will substantially honor it along with other national currency mediums. Even precious metals, etc. are worthless if no one recognizes it or considers it valuable. A case in point is the diamond. Why isn't it currency??... why isn't it traded on the open markets??, etc, ........ National currency or it's derivatives are a convenient and "legal:" way of conducting business and it's value is established and supported by the government (ie. numbers printed on worthless paper)..... With a trillion dollar coin you could buy New Jersey?? or New Orleans??

The money in your wallet or portfolio is worthless without government backing, recognition, and support. Our monetary system is otherwise worthless paper. It is only as good as what it represents..... Absurd?? This has been going on for eons... where have you been?”

“Thanks for your comments.

The health care bill has already helped me. I was forced to become self insured when the company dropped its insurance due in part to great insurance cost increases occurring in before the bill was passed.

Under my self insurance coverage, a screening test became mandatorily covered because of the bill, something I would have had to pay for out of my deductible in the past, totaling over $1000.

Am waiting for the pre-existing part of the bill to click in, because I had been quite unfairly given a urinary tract exclusion on my policy when I became self insured. For those of you who know what it's like to have an exclusion, especially when there's no sound reason for it, there's no way to contest it with the insurance company if you're an adult. Thank God this was changed for minors immediately after the bill was passed, and will change for adults in 2 years.”

I don't believe that Madoff, Bush, or the necessary bailouts prior to this administration was solely responsible for the present condition... certainly not the present administration. The question is why wouldn't everyone, barring the bad-actors and posturing fools, not want to give as much positive input and assistance as possible for the sake of the country?? Why be a constipation instead of a laxative?? Blaming Obama is like blaming the Post Office for the bills and junk you're receiving. I personally have never been a fan of anyone due to my own capabilities. It is difficult though to deny that a team of Phds aren't better than a bunch of bungling, nay-saying dummies that believe stagnation is the answer to growth.
