Girlfriends' Guide: Sarah Palin Is So Bitter!

Girlfriends' Guide: Sarah Palin Is So Bitter!

Commented Feb 21, 2010 at 22:36:23 in Healthy Living

“"That is where the tough questions come from...." I think that is the reason she is avoiding them, which in turn is another big and clear reason a presidential run by her doesn't stand a chance.”

“Yes, she is on the national stage. Those jokes and comments she has attacked were seen and heard on the international stage via modern mass media. They were mostly stupid and unimportant, undeserving of attention. She gave them attention and made them seem important with her censure, but at least she can say she was standing up for herself and her family. The popular opinion about Palin, esp. on the 'net, is that she is stupid, unimportant, and undeserving of attention. Yet every time she utters a word or types one on Facebook.... Must just be some ticked off relatives.”

Leota2 on Feb 21, 2010 at 13:08:35

“It's easy to defend ANYTHING when there is no conversation. Sarah doesn't do interviews outside of FOX. She doesn't answer detractors on Facebook. She Twitters idiocy she doesn't have to defend and she goes to public venues
where the crowd has paid to see her--thus are fans. She even bans people who don't agree with her at book signings. The woman does not defend her family, she puts them out front to be attacked instead of shielding them from publicity.”

“"Nothing too random or private or just plain irrelevant for her to rush to Facebook with her righteous censure." Sounds like how a lot of supposedly smart people feel about Palin.”

nicole473 on Feb 21, 2010 at 11:33:15

“The difference is that Palin is on the national stage. Self-censureship can be a very useful quality, but unfortunately, Palin has none of it.”

“Yes. But at the same time, these are the people from whom the greatest complaints and questioning of Palin's continued public prominence seem to emanate. Before they and their experts and celebrity commenters continue to examine her or anybody else's motives, hypocrisy, and contradictions, that kind of examination of themselves is long overdue.”

“You're absolutely right about the media. But why do the Democrats have to react and respond and reconfigure their goals and their approach to achieving them based on every baseless smear and accusation by the Republicans? When majority of the people vote to give your party the House, the White House, and the Senate, they want and expect your party - not any other party - to rule. They want and expect your party to exercise its power and fulfill its promises, not be hijacked and held hostage by every, as you aptly put it, Repug whisper that the media shamelessly sensationalizes.”

McFlipFlop on Feb 17, 2010 at 01:08:51

“Yes. Everyone miscalculated the degree of hate that the Repugs would implement -- it's never happened before to this degree.

Dems need to get tough, force their will, and implement their policies. I only hope that after this first year, they have awakened.

People like me knew it within a month...”

“I did not - nor ever plan to - vote for Palin, but she isn't famous for nothing. She was a Republican Vice Presidential candidate, after all. But it is the mass media, esp. the blogosphere, that keeps that fame at a heightened level. They perpetuate our consciousness of her - ensure she will not "fade into oblivion" - by reporting and scrutinizing seemingly everything seen and heard from or about her and her family, and constantly making these stories - however serious or relevant or credible - and these people major stories and major subjects of their commentary and analysis.”

Commented Feb 11, 2010 at 01:45:20 in Comedy

“Over-intellectualized means someone trying to come up with a rational, reasonable reaction to a situation - real or hypothetical - that challenges their very honor and manhood. Do the words Dukakis and capital punishment ring a bell? It's not about being college-educated. It's about showing your human.”

PATina on Feb 11, 2010 at 10:37:49

“Agreed. Some responses should just be "instinctual"... not "rational". For example... talking bad about someone's mother. You don't expect people to give a discourse on why it's wrong to talk about mothers in general... you expect that person to defend their mother.”

“It wasn't the swift boat ad, per se, that "killed" John Kerry. It was a tepid, unimpressive, over-intellectualized response to a humongous slap in the face that turned a lot of people off. History seems to be repeating.”

hdohighdesertobserver on Feb 10, 2010 at 23:14:20

“'Over-intellectualized' is a code phrase for 'college-educated' by an under-educated electorate that thinks the drinking buddy quotient is a better criterion for choosing president. Not that that's you, but they did provide Bush with his base.”

“Why do Republicans use these tactics? Because they work. They get Democrats and their supporters so distracted, bamboozled, discombobulated, verklempt - and ofttimes intimidated - that their agenda fails or gets compromised or gets sidetracked or gets bogged down. The Republicans then paint them - with more than a little justification - as being indecisive, confused, ineffectual, and weak (to put it mildly). As long as the bait keeps getting taken, it's gonna keep getting cast.”

McFlipFlop on Feb 14, 2010 at 01:22:46

“The MSM airs every Repug whisper that can be considered controvery. They think this sells soap. That's the basis for the problem, IMO, not that Democrats are verklempt.”

“Dave didn't throw away his integrity. He knows what would make for a good commercial for the Super Bowl. It was the only surprise commercial in the whole telecast. Everything else was predictable. How many commercials had girls in a hot tub/shower punchline?”

“1) The joke was really at Jay's expense and 2) Leno's trying very hard to reverse the negative impression of him he's left behind in the wake of the whole late night controversy. I doubt money was the motivator; Leno's trying to curry favor, here, pure and simple.”

Theatrixnyc on Feb 8, 2010 at 17:58:17

To Pass Health Care, Dems Should Be Against It

Commented Feb 2, 2010 at 01:42:58 in Comedy

“Yeah! So what if the Democrats have overwhelming control of the legislative and executive branches of government? When the darn opposition party is being staunchly oppositional and it's tough to govern, the solution is - of course - reverse psychology. This is something the Dems should definitely try. Simply asserting your mandate (whether real or perceived) and exerting your power doesn't work in these situations. Just ask the Bush/Cheney administration.”

“I meant the amount people are willing to pay for travel and a ticket to see any entertainer entertain - a movie, concert, theater production. I then said "Conan's show has mostly been in third-place in the ratings - and it's free." "it's free" meant both a ticket to the show and watching it on TV.”
