Why Joe Biden Should Resign

Why Joe Biden Should Resign

Commented Oct 15, 2009 at 09:48:44 in World

“It's a little tough when you have the Opposition working AGAINST you all the time. For example - Every STATE has refused to take any of the prisoners. All the countries still hate bush and don't want to take HIS prisoners so what would you do? Obama made the mistake of thinking our people in Congress were grown up and wanted to do what's best for the Country. Why he is finding out is that the GOP ONLY cares about getting re-elected to do nothing yet again. This certainly makes an already difficult job damn near impossible. Obama can't be bipartisan by himself. We have Three branches of government for a reason. Number 1 the Presidency and Number 3 the Surpeme Court are working for the country. Number 2 the Congress is as usual working for re-election and themselves. We the people have the power to change that by calling the opposition party and telling them to get on the train or get out of the way of progress.”

“What I love about Obama is that he is willing to LISTEN to everyone's point of view. After all, Obama is not the expert in War. Obama questions and then listens. But make no mistake, the decision will be Obama's and Obama's alone since he will alone rise or fall on it and I have no doubt this President will make the right decision based on the facts on the ground at this point.

The only reason this came up is because of the Afghani election which is plagued with corruption! Obama rightly qeustions whether or not we should put precious American lives on the line to help ressurrect a government where the leaders aren't willing to help. This makes no sense. He called a halt and is waiting to see if there will be a runoff election. This is prudent and smart. The problem with the Bush wars is that they plodded ahead despite what the facts on the ground showed. They "stuck" to the plan to our detriment! Obama is a very smart man with a great temprement - Thanks God he is the President in these crucial times when we have problems on ALL fronts - both foreign and domestic. I can't imagine the shape we would be in if McCain were President and Palin were the Vice President (possilbly thie President since the stress literally made McCain sick)

Give this team the time they need to fix all these colossal messes.”

“I have grown weary of people suggesting that the SURGE worked. Here is why the SURGE is perceived to have worked: By the time Bush decided to SURGE, the Sunnis and Shiites had already had their "ethnic" cleansing. Prior to OUR INVASION, the Sunnis and the Shiites lived, worked and married together. AFTER our INVASION, they then separated by SIDES since We already decided that the Sunnis must be the bad guys since Saddam was one of them. Well the Sunnis killed all the Shiites in their neighborhoods and vice versa. The major killing had already been done but the time of the Surge.

This is like 2 weeks after the Riots in Watts were over and THEN the police show up in force and claim it was their efforts that stopped the riots! Hogwash!”

“Joe Biden needs to stay exactly where he is. He is doing what he is supposed to do.

Ayrianna if you want someone to make a statement, then encourage all the Number 2s at the Health Care companies to resign. That would show their contempt for what THEIR bosses are doing to the American people.

BTW - Biden is NOT questioning whether or not we should stay in Afghanistan, he is arguing that we should not escalate. Two very different scenarios!”

“I think the disagreement is about the STRATEGY NOT being in Afghanistan. Biden is not in favor of sending 40,000 troops. He is in disagreement with McChrystal's plan not Obama's. Obama has not even revealed his plan. He has one more Security Council meeting. I think AH is jumping the gun. There is no indication that Obama and Biden are NOT on the same side. At least from my vantage point.”

I guess there is no news when they don't have Obama on TV every day, there is a news glut. I think it's funny. People are now just making up - would be news - if this or that happened. Where were all these psychics when we needed them the most - BEFORE THE FINANCIAL TSUNAMI? lol”

“I couldn't agree more. Obama is considering many different perspectives before he reaches a decision. Extreme and provocative decision making became the norm in Washington for eight years. It will take time for people to accept that this president governs thoughtfully. I've seen several people over the last few months calling Obama a wimp for not making prompt decisions. To put it simply, he's not a gunslinger. His decisions may not always be popular, but they will be well informed.”

“Anyone who is honest with themselves knows that Obama is working for the people of America. The Right sure knows it or they wouldn't be so ravenous in their attacks. Notice they NEVER have alternative solutions but they know that everything Obama is doing is wrong.

A big part of this has to do with the Pride of the White men who have run this country since inception. They are not about to have a Black upstart who came out of nowhere actually accomplish all the things they coudn't or did want to accomplish.

Obama will bring Health Care Reform to America. He will thoughtfully end both wars AND dismantle Al Queda. He will get rights for gays, and fix the economy. He has worked harder than any President in recent history and he won't be in office for 9 months technically until October 20th!!!!!

Those people who voted for Obama and are crying he hasn't done anything aren't being fair or they never really listened to him tell all of us it would be hard, but he couldn't do it alone. Perhaps we should do our part, call Congress, Send money and stop whining. The Right has sealed their fate with their endless, clueless diatribes. Let's work WITH Obama is not AGIANST him! He is working FOR us and taking a beating to do it.”

“Although you rightly point out that the Republicans have become the party of "no" and offer little substance to the debate, you failed to recognize the significance of those instances in which Republicans and Democrats quietly agree.

You mention healthcare reform, for example. Although the Republicans are in the throes of knee-jerk negativity to any Democratic position, you forget (or omit) that Obama opened the debate without single payer. Everyone seemed to be on the same page at the outset that single payer wasn't gonna happen, even though Obama had previously stated that that's precisely how he'd prefer healthcare to be run if we could start from scratch--and yes, we can.”

What's next - will there be liberal and conservative grocery stores and parking spaces. This talk really irritates me. I thnk if people are looking for a reason to disagree with a person, it's really easy to call them a liberal or a consrvative. Actually, it makes no sense. Remember the DEEP Recession threw him a curve and he has to deal with that. I think people need to be patient. I don't want him shooting from the hip like Bush. I studied Obama during the campaign and I learned NOT to underestimate him.

Patience is a viture - this ain't a video game.”

“Sarah Palin won hands down - if you were looking for a game show hostess. However, if you were looking at her through the prism of being qualified to be the VP or possibly President, she failed miserably! Somehow, she managed to do what she has done for 5 weeks - talking point after talking point regardless of whether or not they had anything to do with the quesiton!

She has no depth, breadth or even a mild understanding of any of the issues. Biden was BRILLIANT! He gave up lots of chances to show her as a true incompetent, but decided to let her do that on her own. She wa doing an excellent job at that.”

“Here's where the focus should be - This is outrageous!

1. If you can justify repeating the last 8 years with the next 4, then by all means vote for McCain.
2. McCain's Health Care Plan - McCain will eliminate the group health care tax deduction for corps. You company will no longer provide group health care for you. They will add the cost of your health care insurance plan to your income. For example - if you earn $100,000 and you employer pays $9,000 for your group health care, your income will be $109,000 (more taxable) McCain will give you a $5,000 tax credit for families and $2500 for singles(which depending on your tax bracket may not total $5000) to buy your $9000 health care plan. It get's better. If you want another plan, you are free to do so. You can take your $5000 and purchase your own health care plan - Average $12,000 - $15,000 for families and average $6,000 - $10,000 for singles. Keep in mind that you have to undergo insurance company underwriting. If you are a cancer surviver, you with either not be eligible for coverage or your premiums will be huge. (Note you only have, at most, $5000 to pay this.

Just this ONE McCain plan is enough to get Real Americans, thinking Americans to say ENOUGH!”

“This is not to fault your logic but just to play out my point above. Your argument may be perfect and accurate, etc. But there aren't 15 Americans who will look at your post w/o their eyes glazing over. Americans do not vote because of logic/ rationality- they vote because someone makes them feel 'good'. That is sad but true. And if we dems keep going by the analytical play book as you demonstrate here we are making this election a lot closer than it needs to be. Again, I'm not faulting you- my mind works like yours- that's why we both probably belong in europe!”

“Okay, this is an honest question-
Assuming your numbers- I get an extra 9k in income which is taxed. Assume that 3k of that disappears in taxes. that only leaves me with 6k. If I get a 5k tax credit, doesnt that add up to 11k?”

TrooAmerican replied on Sep 08, 2008 at 21:37:09

“Yeah, i heard the analysis on NPR last week. Obama's plan made sense, it may not solve all of the health care issues, but it will improve them and move them in the right direction.
McCain's plan made NO sense, didnt match up financially at all, would really harm americans and families hugely, and was actually not even new, the Repubs have been kicking that around for 25 years in congress and have never had any significant support for it enough to even write a plan and submit it for a vote.
LOL”
