Government/corporations use fear to get what they want and then blame the taxpayer for everything. we need this bailout or the freedom you see will go away. we'll have rioting and people committing suicide. so we sold our souls to wallstreet and banks and we have the suicide part but no rioting and protesting. the government is full of ex bank and wallstreet junkers, welcome to corporate america now get back to work and feed the corporate beasts.”

Campus Protests Should Remind Us All of College's Value

“All colleges in this country have joined the ranks of the bankers and wall street junkers and they will receive a bailout in the form of pink slips for teachers, higher student fees, etc.

We argue about education, but we BAILED OUT the banks and wallstreet oh but that was a long time ago on some distant planet and we had to do it because the poor bankers made bad decisions betting on derivatives and high risk loans those poor guys that graduated from the ivy league and should know better than any of us lowly citizens about finance but hey we all make mistakes.

So a degree helps you do what? Rob the American taxpayer.”

Fear and Anger in Michigan

Commented Mar 31, 2009 at 15:23:35 in Politics

“The ship is sinking...bankers and brokers get out first while the rest of us scramble for crumbs. Why did banks receive 700billion + dollars and now we get to argue about the viability of GM and the firing of CEO's? The outrage should be directed at Wall Street and the banks and Dubya. Write to your Congressman or representative about this outrage and leave GM out of it. Or should GM go to the banks that also got bailed out by our government for loans?

Boosh is staying out of all this mess that he helped create because nobody has the cajones to tell him he was wrong about Iraq and that he was wrong about torture wrong about deregulation wrong about the economy . He did not care about the American worker and we are reaping what he sowed.

The American worker has been under attack for the last eight years or so. No more matching 401k, pay cuts, less hours, layoffs, 401k losing more than half it's value, utilities raising prices, food costs going up, jobs shipped overseas. We seem to have money for two wars and billions for banks yet not enough to help our citizens. And where is the outrage?”

“These Repubs are traitors to the American people. It is not them who are losing their jobs and not having enough to pay bills or their mortgages. How is a tax cut going to help a person without a JOB and no healthcare????
Who do they think pays their wages or their healthcare or their retirement? They must do what is in the best interest of the American people. Enough partisan or bipartisan crap. Why was the bank STIMULUS passed without all of this outrage and questioning????
We send billions in aid to foreign countries yet we can't help our citizens? How sad. The Republicans should be ashamed of themselves but we live in a time where there are no consequences for this behavior and this to me is a damn shame since it is always the taxpayer who loses in the end.”

“You have been reading the wrong editorials. You no longer need a job to get a tax break. If you make no money the IRS sends you a check. If you have a family of 4 and make under a certain amount the IRS sends you money. Keep up. You sound like my father. Plus there are unemploymenefits.

Am I the only person that thinks it is strange that we tax people on social security, disablity, food stamps or whatever the program.

Why should those holding govt offices pay taxes. They are helping the peope of America. Pay them less and not make them pay taxes. Unless there is a lobbyist in the family. Then they should pay triple taxes”

Professor73 on Feb 10, 2009 at 16:13:26

“karmatt77

A brief lesson in economics. The more money people have, the more they will spend. The more they spend, the more jobs are created to provide the goods and services that create jobs and sustain the economy.

You would be right, a person without a job will not get a tax break. We should not be sending money in foreign aid around the world. Instead, we should be sending American made products to those people in need. They get the help they need, and you get the job that makes that happen.

It would be nice to blame this all on the Repubs, but reality is the blame is squarely on the shoulders of both parties and the voters that elected them into office. We have literally gotten what we voted for!!”
