“The biggest flaw in your argument is that you think that progressives want something for nothing. That is not the case. We all pay taxes and we all pay into insurance plans of some kind, so we statistically are healthier than conservatives.
What we progressives want is to be able to obtain the largest possible risk pool as well as be able to keep our coverage when we lose our jobs. We want to have better health outcomes without going bankrupt. If the private insurance industry could provide that then we wouldn't object to it continuing.
The last time I had to go to the emergency room the first person who sat down with me wasn't an MD, it wasn't a nurse, it was someone whose job it is to check to see what insurance I have. That is literally "someone between you and your doctor." The current model is obviously broken and getting worse with each day spent wasting our energy over 'death panels.'
The fact is that government is already paying for some of the sickest and least able to pay individuals in Medicaid and Medicare while private insurance is cherry picking who can get treatment from among the least risky. Insurance companies know they have us over a barrel and are making astronomical profits doing it. And you want that to continue.”

“-We all pay taxes and we all pay into insurance plans of some kind, so we statistically are healthier than conservatives.-
And here everyone is always saying that conservatives are the ones with the good health insurance. Which is it? And - got a link that says you are healthier?
DUH - you go to an ER and register and do your paperwork. Ever gone for something truly life-threatening? I have - and taken my son - they handed me back my card - told me they'd deal with that later and took him in the back. It's called registration and triage - it's how ER's work.
If you are on group health insurance they are not 'cherry picking'. And- of course they are making a profit - it's a for profit business. You are making a business contract - you are selling your risk. Profit is not a dirty word in a capitalist country.”

Why the National Debate is Still Conducted on the Right's Terms

“Lies:
Cap & trade merely monetizes the reduction in CO2 released into the atmosphere, meaning that it creates a market. That isn't going to kill jobs, because it will add jobs in other sectors like alternative energy and retrofitting.
The stimulus package has been responsible for saving over 1 million jobs that would have been otherwise lost.
The health care debate has been going on for about a hundred years, and in its current form for the past sixteen, which is plenty of time to understand the issues.
Also the House voted against the planes. So there.”

Here is the definition of eliminationism:
Eliminationism, often playing a key role in fascist ideology, is the attitude that those who disagree with you on some fundamental issue are not simply wrong-headed but, rather, an enemy which needs to be "eliminated" somehow.”

Tea Party Madness to Sweep the Nation?
Commented Aug 12, 2009 at 20:26:04 in Politics
“That is just plain misinformed and wrong. He has the power to hold down costs with many mechanisms, some of which are in the bill. Increasing the risk pool of government plans will decrease costs. Adding more results-based care (the Mayo clinic model) will also decrease costs. Adding negotiating power for drug prices decreases costs. The fact is that our whole health care system wastes a huge amount of money without a commensurate increase in results. We can achieve better health outcomes AND spend less, but there must be some driving force behind the cost reductions, because the insurance companies aren't going to do it on their own.”
