Hawaii Lawmakers Question Benefits Of Gay Marriage

Commented Oct 29, 2013 at 09:35:20 in Politics

“I have to say I'm mystified that this is an issue in Hawai'i. I only ask. Where's the aloha?”

Helen Weals on Oct 29, 2013 at 10:11:03

“The Mormon and Catholic churches have HUGE influence in Hawaii politics, which is the only reason the state supreme court decision in favor of marriage equality was reversed by a referendum almost 20 years ago.”

The Most Controversial Sentence I Ever Wrote

Commented Oct 25, 2013 at 10:00:25 in Politics

“I am not a Christian, but I believe that Christians, like Jim Wallis, are the only way to social justice in the USA. I agree that white people's fear of losing control is at the heart of dysfunction in our country. It's going to be a long slog.”

'Safe Seats' and the Media's Soft Spin About Radical Republicans

Commented Oct 9, 2013 at 08:35:28 in Media

“Yes, I agree the "safe seat hypothesis" does not explain the Republicans radical behavior, but I believe it does explain how they are getting away with this behavior. The radical ideas are based in white frustration with a changing economy and society. The safe seat is only allowing this voice to be heard by threatening a "main stream" Republican with a more radical one. If they didn't have a safe seat, a right middle Dem would defeat a radical right Republican.”

“I couldn't agree more. The Republicans have become the "unchristian" party. The problem is the Christian clergy is still telling their followers to vote for the Republicans because they can't get over the gay, abortion, and birth control issues. I applaud our new Pope for saying so. He seems to be a true Christian.”

A Conservative's Take: Top 10 Reasons Why Romney Lost

Commented Nov 6, 2012 at 10:13:17 in Politics

“Seriously, these are the reasons for a Romney defeat? Romney will lose because he's on the wrong side of the issues. Even with his obfuscations and outright lies about his newly discovered moderate positions, he's still too right wing for average Americans. Romney and Ryan are hollow. That's why the president will win despite the worst economy since the great depression.”

I Don't Have Breast Cancer

Commented Sep 22, 2012 at 09:56:23 in Fifty

“Although I fear your experience is much too common, it should not have been this distressing. When you went in with breast pain, you should have had a "diagnostic" mammogram. That means the initial images are reviewed by the radiologist before you leave, and if additional imaging is necessary(in your case an ultrasound), it should be performed before you leave. Once all the imaging is complete, the radiologist should personally discuss this with you. Again, this should all take place at your first visit. It's distressing enough to fear pain or a lump may be cancer. You shouldn't have to wait days to get an answer. I'd suggest you find an imaging department that can provide this most basic service.”
