“Freedom of speech is a double edged sword in that it really does cut both ways. We may loathe what they say, all they represent, and consider them lunatics, but in this country they do have the right like anyone else to spew their hate filled nonsense. Denying anyones right to do so would endanger all our freedoms. Those freedoms that we cherish, that many have fought and died for represent far more than our way of life, they inspire us toward that more perfect union by demanding from us a collective level tolerance that we as individuals are often not capable of.”

“The school bus part of his career I find a little odd because as a school bus driver myself I know it is a CDL requirement that you must pass a physical and a reflex test to drive for a public school system. I take one every year and the DOT requirements to pass these things get more difficult each year. For example, under this states guidelines if a bus drivers blood pressure is above 135 over 80 you fail your physical and are sent to your doctor to get it corrected before you can retake the physical. Yes, there are many heavy bus drivers out there, but I can't imagine how somebody weighing much over 300 pounds could even begin to pass our reflex test let alone our physical.”

“He wouldn't have gotten that fat on a government funded health program because something would have been done long before he got to 500 pounds. A lot of people who know they are going to get Medicare will put off medical treatment for costly things until they get much worse just to utilize that system that is one big reason, along with fraud, why the costs of that program always run higher than estimates of what it should be.”

“The point is once you are classified as morbidly obese no one will insure you, and you only have to be 60 pounds beyond your optimum weight to be placed in that category. A person only three hundred pounds would find it nearly impossible to walk with a bad knee. A 500, or 800 pound man would need help just to stand let alone walk. The point here is this man could have been helped to get down to a survivable weight, but there was no help for him. If these insensitive jerks on this post had any sense at all, they would know that once you arrive at that kind of weight just stopping eating, and walking the few steps you might be able to walk will not be enough alone to lose those hundreds of pounds. This man would have required some kind of surgery to remove the excess fat, some kind of physical therapy to help him figure out and help him with exercises he could do, and a carefully planned diet to reduce weight quickly and safely. Yes, he didn't have to get that heavy, but he didn't have to die from it that quick either.”

“I agree that he did not have to die from obesity. Could you park a loved one in a recliner and watch him die over 8 months? There was a complete breakdown among the social ties of family and friends here. Being unemployed, he may have well qualified for medicaid. This story saddens me on so many levels. He may have given up on himself, but it sounds like no one around him took the initiative to help him.”

“Graham would like it to die, but he will need more than turncoat Lieberman, and their insurance allies to achieve that goal. This is a historic day in the history of our nation. Health care reform that has been long in coming, and now desperately needed passed in one chamber of Congress. If a few of those Republican Senators had a brain in their head, and wished to keep their seat in Congress they would vote for the health care legislation in one form or another. We are tired of the Party of no, and their do nothing approach to problems, and we will work hard to insure that all who vote no on Health Reform will have a very tough time getting re-elected. Any Senator voting no on Health Reform is literally telling a large portion of their constituency, the under insured, and uninsured, to go screw themselves. They are telling the average person they can't have affordable health care, or the sense of security of having coverage that can't be taken away for any reason. The same sense of security that your Congress person has always enjoyed. I can't wait to see those political ads.”

“Fox is commentary, not news and that is all the administration is pointing out, and that is why they shouldn't be treated like a real news outlet. The anger at Fox News stems from the fact that they package a political philosophy, or agenda, and sell it to people as real news. Now, we are not talking about the right leaning, or left leaning commentary shows that are broadcast on all these different channels. What we are talking about is that portion of Fox Broadcasting that is being sold as legitimate news when it is anything but. The President has every right to treat them like a political adversary because they are.”

“I am shocked that old Sen. Harry Reid seems to be showing more leadership on this issue than the President. The President should know that another loss on health care reform after getting this close to it will have a much greater political cost than losing a few seats held by conservative democrats, and the republicans would like nothing better than democrats to be seen as ineffective.. This is not a political promise democrats can turn from. They must stand and deliver on this, or it will cost them all. We elected democrats to get some of these extremely needful things done. Your mantra "change we can believe in" raised both our hopes, and expectations. You have a chance to make that a reality with health car reform don't blow it. Robbing the hopes, and raping the expectations in the millions of people you raised them in will not be forgotten.”

“The point of the segment was to simply show you just how randomly, callously, and thoughtlessly the people who work for those blood sucking profiteers, the insurance industry, make those life and death decisions on other people. The "Saw" movie is a crude vehicle to use to illustrate the point, but it does fit in with the movies theme of someone making a decision about who lives or dies in a situation. Ironically the theme of all the "Saw" movies fit this one element of the health care debate, and that is someone everyday sits at a desk in a corporate office, not a medical facility, that literally does render decisions on who lives, or dies. The only difference between that and the "Saw movie is in the movie they have to look at who they are murdering. In a corporate office all they have to do is stamp a claim for treatment denied, and someone dies. However, the greatest sin here actually rests with all those who are defending the insurance industries right to commit passive murder for profit.”

“RIGHT ON ! We should appreciate the fact that this President and his people had the testicle fortitude to finally step up and say what needed to be said about Fox knowing full well they might take a hit for it. Fox News or their News buddies have no right to cry "freedom of the press" because Fox News is the ultimate perversion of that sacred freedom. The whole point of that freedom was to insure that people got the news unfiltered without any philosophical slant. There was once a thing called journalistic integrity that old news people like Edward R. Murrow, and Walter Cronkite valued so much that they went out of their way not to slant, or inject their opinion into a news story. This concept is as sacred as the freedom that sits upon it because true freedom of the press can't exist as our founding fathers intended without it.”

“Old Rupert Murdoch is all about making money no matter what, but if you can push an agenda while doing so all the better. Yes, in the short term the Fox ratings will rise on this push back by the President and his people, but over the long haul Fox will continue to paint themselves even farther into the right corner with their choice to be absolutely philosophically secular in their programming. The President, and his people have no desire to silence them because as far as they are concerned the further off the cliff Fox goes the better because that will only serve to help prove their point that what Fox does isn't real news, but opinion nonsense. Now, this is not to say that there aren't programs on other channels with a far left tilt. The difference, in contrast to Fox, is they don't try to sell themselves as legitimate news. Fox is a whole network devoted to the right wing philosophy, so the President is correct in treating them like a political adversary because Fox went into full attack mode on President Obama before his election and haven't let up. There goal is to simply destroy him and he knows it.”
