Now might be a good time to recall what it was that caused the founders of this country to create the US. Just that kind of bowing, or acquiescing, to royalty. We bow to rule of law, and not to any man or woman.

If nothing else, 'not bowing' is a gesture. It is a symbol for the promotion of democracy, that the head of the oldest democracy in the world doesn't bow down to sovereigns. He shouldn't even be shaking the hands of those who deny rights and freedom to their own citizens, and who torture on their citizens.

What self-absorbed and arrogant Americans who comment here know about protocol and the history of our own country could fill a thimble and there would still be room for their middle finger.”

Why can't this debate take place within the realm of discussing her qualifications to serve as Secretary of State? Most of the negative comments, including mine focus on her qualifications for that job while conceding that she is well qualified to continue in the Senate or serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services, which is her area of expertise.

I mean no disrespect, but throwing around an inflammatory label like misogynist does not strengthen your argument and it throws the discussion off track.

“I don't hate her. I believe she would be a splendid Secretary of Health and Human Services. She will be a terrible Secretary of State because she's pro-war and she's so clueless that she actually believes that Iran is our enemy and Israel is a close friend that can do no wrong. Plus, she can be played by any skillful and experienced negotiator because she so obviously overcompensates to cover up her fear of being labeled soft on anything.

She lacks the wisdom to have confronted and defeated her fear of being perceived as inadequate and she is every bit as ethically compromised by her desire to be President as was true of McCain. The presidency is her "precious" and she rather childishly and selfishly wants to be Secretary of State to pad her resume to be elected President.

Has she considered that the fate of our nation's economy and its people may directly depend on whether she can negotiate a long-term peace in the Middle East, a task no one since Alexander the Great has accomplished and he imposed the peace militarily, which we do not have the capacity to do.

Why doesn't she have the sense to realize that she is not likely to succeed in this job? Does Obama believe peace in the Middle East is a lost cause, so he's decided to set her up to fail and then blame her for failing? Is this his way of destroying her politically?”
