President Tries To Put Out Fire From Emanuel's Health Care Remarks
Commented Jul 08, 2009 at 02:23:29 in Politics
“I have a true story for you.. A friend and I were in one of those neighborhood health centers. We heard a conversation from the person at the window, to a young mother, and a little boy about 4 years old. The woman was sending them away without treatment because their insurance was not effective. As they walked out ,my friend and I stood, and asked how much it would cost, and she said" for one or two" "It would cost $75 for each one. " I asked if both mother and son were sick, and the mother said , "My son is sick, and I have a spider bite that I wanted the doctor to look at, but I can wait for mine. Imagine that!!! Is this America or a greedy, profit system that needs to be drowned? We paid $75 for the little boy, and I whispered to the mother to just ask the doctor to look at her spider bite when she got in there. Both mother and son thanked us and went in. I am furious. Everyone has a similiar story. I am an old woman but I will go to any state and knock on a thousand doors to defeat those members of congress who vote against a government option. We the people are fed up. Please take heed!!!!!!”

“David Gregory is a lightweight. As far as I am concerned, NBC should replace him, and let him join Fox. I think he would fit right in.there. I like the female reporters on MSNBC, especially Rachal Madden, and I like Keith Oldermann, and Ed Schultz is great. I would like to see Ed repeated later in the evening in case I miss him at 5. I am pleased that I can catch Keith and Rachel later on a repeat. MSNBC, please keep giving us these great journalists like the ones I mentioned, and you will soon pass all the mediocre ones.”

“He was in Great Britain. This was at the G20 Summit. None of the other heads of state bowed. None should have.
Now might be a good time to recall what it was that caused the founders of this country to create the US. Just that kind of bowing, or acquiescing, to royalty. We bow to rule of law, and not to any man or woman.
If nothing else, 'not bowing' is a gesture. It is a symbol for the promotion of democracy, that the head of the oldest democracy in the world doesn't bow down to sovereigns. He shouldn't even be shaking the hands of those who deny rights and freedom to their own citizens, and who torture on their citizens.
What self-absorbed and arrogant Americans who comment here know about protocol and the history of our own country could fill a thimble and there would still be room for their middle finger.”

Officials: Obama Offered Clinton Secretary Of State
Commented Nov 16, 2008 at 00:45:22 in Politics
“Hillary Clinton is capable of doing any job given to her and doing it well. When Hillary didn't win, I switched to Obama, just like she did.. She handled her defeat with grace, worked diligently for Obama ,and won the respect of the nation(excepting the usual Hillary-haters)The people who hate her are mostly mysognists, who are jealous of and intimidated by strong, smart women. I hope you can move beyond this destructive hatred.. Why not hold your attacks and give her a chance,.? The world will benefit from Hillary Clinton being chosen for S>O>S. or any other vital position.”

“Are you saying that people who criticize Hillary hate her, are misogynists, and intimidated by strong smart women?
Why can't this debate take place within the realm of discussing her qualifications to serve as Secretary of State? Most of the negative comments, including mine focus on her qualifications for that job while conceding that she is well qualified to continue in the Senate or serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services, which is her area of expertise.
I mean no disrespect, but throwing around an inflammatory label like misogynist does not strengthen your argument and it throws the discussion off track.
I'm just say'in. . .”

“I don't hate her. I believe she would be a splendid Secretary of Health and Human Services. She will be a terrible Secretary of State because she's pro-war and she's so clueless that she actually believes that Iran is our enemy and Israel is a close friend that can do no wrong. Plus, she can be played by any skillful and experienced negotiator because she so obviously overcompensates to cover up her fear of being labeled soft on anything.
She lacks the wisdom to have confronted and defeated her fear of being perceived as inadequate and she is every bit as ethically compromised by her desire to be President as was true of McCain. The presidency is her "precious" and she rather childishly and selfishly wants to be Secretary of State to pad her resume to be elected President.
Has she considered that the fate of our nation's economy and its people may directly depend on whether she can negotiate a long-term peace in the Middle East, a task no one since Alexander the Great has accomplished and he imposed the peace militarily, which we do not have the capacity to do.
Why doesn't she have the sense to realize that she is not likely to succeed in this job? Does Obama believe peace in the Middle East is a lost cause, so he's decided to set her up to fail and then blame her for failing? Is this his way of destroying her politically?”

Bush Speaks On The Financial Crisis

“Sweet of Bush to call a summit just before he has to crawl home . We need to change the length of time for inaugurating the new president to 30 days after the election, so the new president can get started to clear up messes . Jan 20th is too long. . And the collossal gall to try to soften the regulations before he goes. His legacy is at ground level and sinking fast.”
bannorhill replied on Nov 14, 2008 at 11:38:01
“8 years ago you were calling for more time to recount. 39 days were used for the recount and that was not enough. Now you want 30 days between election and inaguration. That would give about 1 week for recounts. If that little time were alocated for recounts then Stevens & Coleman would be reelected to the Senate and Georgia would be without a Senator. Do you really want that?”

“Colin Powell cared more for his job than he cared for the country. He could hacve been elected president, if he had resigned and turned his back on this lying, deceitful administration. Unfortunately, he made a choice to stay, and in so doing, he lost the respect of the country, and all hope for any political future. It is indeed sad. Alan Greenspan did the same thing, when he approved Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy. I hope that we still have some true patriots who will stand up and be counted, no matter what the cost.”
