Sandra Day O'Connor: Stop Electing Judges
Commented Sep 15, 2009 at 00:04:28 in Politics
“I'm sorry but if we shouldn't be electing them in the first place then why should we be voting for them later on to see if they are doing a good job?
She is right - electing judges is a bad idea. Who the hell really knows who they are voting for? Most people can't name their congressperson.
Judges have direct impact on people's lives everyday judges with political parties imply they follow a specific ideology.
Vetting and hearings are the best way to appoint them.”

Warren Inauguration Prayer Could Draw More Ire
Commented Dec 31, 2008 at 14:09:19 in Politics
“Everyone has a very valid point but what's done is done. Warren has been picked. Barring some huge skeleton from his closet (pun intended) Obama is not going to throw him under the bus. And if you are Warren - you wouldn't turn down this opportunity.
Short of being one of the lucky few to be at the inaugural who can make a visible protest during his invocation (I suggest over a million turning their back to Warren) - Just go get some snacks when he gives his invocation and get over it. It's not like the news wont replay it a millions times anyway to parse it.”

Lieberman Likely To Retain Prized Committee Chair
Commented Nov 18, 2008 at 05:03:12 in Politics
“I thought the point of this vote was really not about Lieberman during the campaign (although that was the last straw) it was really about his actions over the past 4 years in the senate. The framing of the issue by the MSM and Lieberman only works to his advantage if he is voted for or against. The issue is whether or not the Democratic majority is entitled to chair its own DHS committee - period. The rest is BS.”

“The Main Stream Media seems not to have noticed this - or is conveniently ignoring it.
Sen. McCain appeared to claim that Barry Goldwater's loss was corrected by the assassination of Jack Kennedy in Dallas.
McCain: ...Where I learn is from a town hall meeting. That's where you learn hopes, dreams, aspirations and concerns of Americans who are hurt right now. So if we stood on the stage together, it changes the atmosphere. Many years ago Barry Goldwater and Jack Kennedy had agreed to fly around the country and from one place to another and stand before the American people. I still with Senator Obama would do that.
Leno: ...Look what happened to Barry Goldwater.
McCain: ...As you know the tragedy of Dallas intervened. But I think it would have been great for the American people to see us stand together.
So John McCain does essentially the same thing as Hillary Clinton, and not a peep from the media???”

“It's highly probable the mainstream media is a bit more knowledgeable of American history than you are. Since Goldwater didn't lose to JFK, but lost to LBJ a year after JFK was assassinated, McCain could not possibly have meant what you suggest he meant.
What McCain was actually referring to was what JFK and Goldwater were planning to do leading up to the '64 election, but which unfortunately did not happen because of JFK's death.
JFK defeated Nixon, not Goldwater.”

Given the smear tactics of the Republicans, and their efforts to keep this about ANYTHING but the issues, it would make sense to have someone working for him who would "oversee" what's going on.
