“Sums it up:
"Money came from Monsanto Co., DuPont Pioneer and the Grocery Manufacturers Association, which collected millions in donations from the nation's top food companies, including Nestle SA, General Mills Inc., Coca-Cola Co. and PepsiCo Inc. Many of those companies mounted a $46 million defense to defeat a similar food-labeling measure in California last year."
I tried volunteering for phone banking, but don't live in the state. Thanks Dr. Bronners.”

“Dr. Bronner's cares about people. I am happy to support their business and I really like their soap products.
Fair trade companies are always welcome in my home.”
“She looks fantastic. I remotely worked with her in undergrad and she is a swell person. The owner of the production co, I worked for happened to be blind and he got me to see the real Pam. She is a vegetarian, like myself, so I was softened on my bias.. I found her personality kind, warm, motherly, thoughtful, caring. I am anti beauty plastic surgery, however. I think it is phoney.”
“I'm not saying he shouldn't have. He certainly would be alive today if he did. But kids don't look ahead and at future consequences like that. His only thought was just to return something to its owner.”
“Pellet guns are not toys, with all the gang violence in Santa Rosa, what the heck are the parents thinking letting this boy walk the streets with a realistic a k-47, forget about not having an orange tip!”
“According to the account from Henry, the Santa Rosa lieutenant, the incident began about 3 p.m. when two deputies pulled behind Andy, who wore a blue hoodie and shorts and walked with a rifle in his left hand that had the same brown and black parts as a real AK-47.
Federal law requires replica guns to have an orange tip, but Andy's toy rifle didn't have one.”

“also that isnt a very conclusive accounting, its hard to set the orange tips sometimes. on some rifles its just a thin orange ring, also some airsoft guns can have attachments put on the barrel such as a muzzle brake or silencer. for aesthetics, not any actual functional change.”

“right, thus the question of it having been modified.”

“How in the heck do you justifiable kill a 13 yr. old kid. Granted he had a fake gun that looked real but instead of shooting to kill, shoot to wound and disarm...it's that simply!
"When the deputies shouted at the subject, the subject began to turn toward the deputies," said Henry. "As the subject was turning towards [the deputies], the barrel of the assault rifle was rising up and turning in [their] direction. The deputy feared for his safety, the safety of his partner and the safety of the community members in the area."...
If someone yells a command, I would think most of us would turn towards the person in question... that sounds like some prefixed, saving my ass BS cover up story to me, if I ever heard one...
So if the kid was 5 yrs. old he would have had the same response? I think not! So guess what, aim your gun, shot the kid in the leg instead of panicking and rattling off 10 shots (give or take)...I know cops who are great marksman but in the heat of the moment, your superior shooting skills become lessened ...so guess what, shot to injure/disable instead of kill...is that asking too much!”

“The reports I have seen are that this was an Airsoft rifle (air powered gun that fires small plastic pellets). They are not required by law to have an orange tip.”

“A hoodie! That explains it. Any minority kid with a hoodie is fair game for being shot!”

“Pellet guns don't have orange tips. Those are on cap guns.”
“Santa Rosa police are dealing with a plethora of Latino gun and gang violence. The gun looked like an AK-47 and if the young man didn't comply, what are they supposed to do? Replicas of AK-47's or the like should not be allowed, period. Santa Rosa police from the time I have spent there are complete angels compared to SF and Oakland.”
Patient Zero on Oct 24, 2013 at 00:21:24
“They told him to drop the gun, and then immediately fired. That's what the cop said. They never gave the kid a chance to comply.”

“I'd like to know how tall this boy was and how much he weighed before we start saying we can't blame the cops. Did they think they had some terrorist who would just turn and fire with out motive or provocation? Why didn't they stay behind cover, wait till they could clearly identify him before taking any lethal action? Why didn't they taze him? Why didn't they use bean bag shotguns? Why did they shoot at all? Why didn't they stay in their car, circle around him and make sure of what they had before killing an innocent little boy? If they are that scared there only thought is to draw and fire, they shouldn't be Cops at all!!!”
