“Because that's what they did with speed limits, right? Decreased them bit by bit until they took our cars away. ;-)”

“Curious; first you say that government controlled schooling "is nothing more than propaganda." Then you say that ivy league institutions "are the worst offenders" -- which are *not* government controlled! Pitiful.”

“all education is corrupt. Look at the cost of colleges and see who controlls it all. Or let me guess, you have a kid in there now that is racking up student loans while living in your basement and working for starbucks right?”
“Not my recipe (found it on food.com), but rhubarb works wonderfully with pineapple -- my husband said he liked it much better than the usual strawberry/rhubarb pie, even though strawberries are his fave!
Rhubarb Pineapple Pie
1 1/4 cups sugar (too sweet – try 1 cup to start!)
1/4 cup all purpose flour
3 1/4 cups thinly sliced rhubarb
14 ounces crushed drained pineapple
pastry for double crust pie
1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
In large bowl measure 1st amount of sugar and flour, stir.
Add rhubarb and pineapple, stir.
Pour fruit mixture into unbaked pie shell.
Moisten pastry rim and cover with top crust.
Cut slits in top crust to let steam escape.
Sprinkle with remaining sugar.
Bake in 350 degree oven on bottom rack for 50 60 minutes until browned and rhubarb is cooked.”
“Actually, no. Had you bothered to *read* the links, you'd discover that the vast majority of those guns in those other countries could *not* have been used outside of the home for self-defense, because of the kinds of restrictions on carrying that those countries impose. So if we're talking about the incidents referred to in the article (i.e., incidents that occurred at schools, temples, theaters, etc.), those guns would not have saved lives.”

“"Right-to-Work States = Jobs!"
...with fewer benefits and lower wages. Welcome to "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer."”

Depends. If I am at home with no job, and a factory opens up next to me paying minimum wage. I am still making more than…say nothing. If I was unemployed, I certainly would not want to be in a state that limits my ability to work AT ANY PRICE I want. It is called freedom. Why are you trying to stop people from deciding what their time is worth, especially when they are not doing anything with that time.
Additionally, not all the jobs are low wage. An increasingly amount of new jobs are good paying industrial and high tech jobs. They pay fair market wages. They just do not want to be held hostage through work stoppages every time unions want more.
The auto industry has been growing in America since the early 1990’s. That isight it has been expanding nearly every year…just not in Michigan. They pay decent wages. People in those shops are better off. Ask Detroit how unions have worked out for them.
Anyway, the consumers of labor are voting with their feet an leaving union states. That only hurts the unions and states, not the company. As it should be!
