“...and Gap is soooo where the rebels shop.”
huffponewbie replied on Nov 23, 2009 at 20:35:11
“I worked at the Gap years ago. Am I rebel? I don't know. I think it may be a tad rebellious to pursue a PHD (a degree that 1% of Americans have). It may be a tad rebellious to have been an expat. It may be a tad rebellious to read four languages. Or is it only rebellious to be different just like everyone else. Is it rebellious to not graduate from college (Damn the Man)? I think that if you are judging a persons level of rebelliousness on where it is that they shop you need to partake in a little rebellion yourself; rebel against the mind-state that allows you to make such ridiculous comments.”

“Exactly. Well, actually, "anti-corporate America" has been in fashion so long, maybe now the true rebellious thing to do is ONLY support corporate America!”
What I Like (And Hate) About Sarah Palin

“If you like Salmon, try this one. I concocted it a week or so ago in a moment of inspiration:
place salmon fillets on broiling pan
mix about 1.5 balsamic vinegar to 1 part olive oil.
Baste salmon fillets until well coated.
Sprinkle kosher salt and grind pepper to taste.
Grind up walnuts to crumbs.
Coat salmon fillets with walnut crumbs.
place broiling pan on low shelf in oven and broil until the walnuts are bronze.
serve!
I have found that the salmon is just right when the walnuts are browned. Since my oven isn't great, I turn the pan about halfway through broiling. Takes about 10-12 minutes total. I served this again last night to guests, with couscous and fresh steamed asparagus and it was a big hit.”

“Precisely. I see no changes occuring. No one pointing at a never before seen source or driver of change.
Most of what I saw in the descrptions were websites where you could volunteer.
You know what a "game changer" might look like? Someone who sees a crisis coming. Like 76 million baby boomers about to start retiring. A medical system ill-equipped and ill-financed to handle them with today's medicine. And medical research about to find ways (stem cell research) to add decades to life expectancy....if one has the money, because Medicare and private insurance can't provide the needed treatments to those 76 million boomers as their hearts, kidneys, livers, lungs, etc begin to fail (that's what old age is all about). Republicans (example: McCain) are already calling for limits on Social Security and Medicare benefits.
I emailed a couple of HuffPost reporters after reading their healthcare reports. No one responded.
The Encyclopedia Britannia gives three reasons for the French Revolution:
1) Average citizens were dying while the wealthy survived
2) the goverment was broke, unable to help the average citizen
3) there was no way for the average citizen to improve their condition
When Americans begin seeing their retired parents die of conditions the wealthy simply get treated for, there will be a revolution.
Hard times don't lead to revolution, needless death does.”

“Yeah I agree with you about Chris. But I think Logan is just as bad if not worse. He stays on merely because he's pretty.
Epperson was perhaps the most interesting designer of the group. After he left (unfairly, I'll add), my own interest began to wane.
I pretty much hated Nicholas as a person, but his designs were consistently superior to Logan's or Chris's. And Shirin, though she never sent me spinning cartwheels, had her moments.
I don't like Gordana's stuff much, though the last couple of challenges were her best. I've begrudgingly concluded Irina is better than I'd first thought.
As far as the models go - thank GOD Celine finally was kicked to the curb. Ick.”
