Ed Begley Jr. Flips Out On Fox: Climate Change Is Real (VIDEO)
Commented Nov 25, 2009 at 12:18:04 in Green
“When it's snowing in Vegas but it's 80 degrees in Toronto in January, I think a sane person would have to say there is something going on. My unscientific clue that we are suffering from climate change is Mother Nature. When an armadillo, a desert creature, is able to migrate as far as northern Missouri, then it believes it can survive in the new climate. This doesn't happen overnight but is part of a long term change in climate. And when the glaciers are finally gone from the mountain tops, millions of people will either have to migrate down or face death. But the deniers don't want to see this as most are just worried about themselves or the costs. Money (i.e. greed)is what drives most of them. Or just plain ignorance. Gee, they must be mostly Republicans.”

Joseph Cao: Voting For Health Reform Was "A Decision Of Conscience" (VIDEO)

“Gee, what a concept! Actually voting for something that your constituents want. Representing the people who voted you into office. People first, party second. Isn't that the way it's supposed to work? We'll see if he's attacked by the wingnut talk show hosts for having a conscience and some backbone. But there was probably some sort of deal made behind the scenes. I hate to be a cynic but I still have a hard time believing any Republican would do the right thing without some reward. We'll see.”

Unemployment In California Highest In Nearly 70 Years

“Remember, the long term goal of the Republican Party is to bankrupt America so that it can kill all the social programs that it hates so much. Remember the Grover Norquist quotes about shrinking government until you can drown it in a bathtub. If a lot of innocent working people have to suffer along the way, so be it. Lots of people will have to suffer before they finally get the oligarchy they dream about. But not the wealthy, powerful and connected. They are the chosen ones and we peons will just have to adjust to the 'New World Order'. So thanks to all the ignorant worker bees who have voted for and supported the Republican agenda since the takeover began with Ronald Reagan. It won't be long now and you too can live in the trailer park on the edge of town with no hope for the future.”
Dowd On Wilson: "Some People Just Can't Believe A Black Man Is President And Will Never Accept It"
Commented Sep 14, 2009 at 01:12:19 in Politics
“It's not entirely about race with Republicans, even though they constantly deny their racist beliefs. But it's probably 80%. Republicans are just sore losers and they are pissed that the American people took away their power and gave it to a damn n-word. And they can't stand that. So it is mostly about destroying that uppity brother to show people what a big mistake they made. And if Obama suceeds, they will out of power for a generation. So it doesn't matter what the issue is, they just want to destroy this black man. They can deny it all they want, but when you you look at all those red state rednecks showing their true colors, it's pretty obvious about their intentions.”

Employer-Provided Health Care Costs Expected To Rise 10.5% In Next 12 Months
Commented Aug 25, 2009 at 13:21:32 in Business
“Every pay increase I've received in the last 10 years has been eaten up by health insurance increases. I know I am lucky just to have health care insurance these days. I have to pay 1/3 of the premiums and my employer pays the rest but my share is now larger than my house payment. Where will this insanity end? I suppose when this finally reaches the breaking point, employers will just start dumping employer funded health plans altogether or we will have $5,000 deductibles. The only people who are benefiting from all this are the insurance companies and you can thank the mostly Republican politicians who are protecting them. But eventually, they will kill the Golden Goose and ruin the system for everyone.”
Chironomid replied on Aug 25, 2009 at 14:03:43
“I'm with you. What's really fun is that I get a raise (most years, not this one) in September, and our premiums reset (upward, always upward) in December. So, I get three months of "pretend you make more money!" before the increase takes it away or, a couple times, cuts into what I made before leaving me with a little less (like this year for sure..).”
Prakosh replied on Aug 25, 2009 at 13:33:23
“Something that doesn't get mentioned much is the effect that the demise of the unions in this country has had on this issue. I don't much about the numbers etc and my history is a little shaky at times. But it seems to me that there is some correlation between the Reagan union-busting years, and the sharp decrease in union workers and the continued increase in health care premiums and the amount of that increase that is being shifted to the employees. This is a big project to put all this together, but I bet some research would validate my supposition.”
Olbermann Slams Palin For "Death Panel" Claim, Calls Her Dangerously Irresponsible (VIDEO)
Commented Aug 11, 2009 at 10:20:00 in Media
“That's so true. Most of the people are not bright enough to get the fact they're being manipulated. In fact, a lot of conservatives resent people who are bright and articulate. it makes them feel inadequate and that's why they gravitate to people like Sarah Palin. She seems like their kind of intellectual. And that's why McCain carried 88 of the 100 least educated counties in America. I'm not sure how we can change that but it's a big part of the problem. 18,000 people a year die because of lack of health care and 1,000,000 file bankruptcy due to medical bills yet we have these morons trying to kill health care reform. That kind of ignorance is hard to overcome. I doubt that Keith could convince them otherwise. They would rather believe other right wing intellectuals, like Rush.”
Mahi Joe replied on Aug 11, 2009 at 12:58:57

Military Analysts: Climate Change Will Pose "Profound Strategic Challenges" To U.S. Security
Commented Aug 08, 2009 at 20:54:31 in Green
“When it snows in Las vegas and Phoenix but you can wear shorts in Iceland, doesn't that seem unusual to you? Once the climate is turned upside down, we are in big trouble. If it stops raining in the midwest and plains for 5-10 years, there goes Americas bread basket and most of our food supply. Typical of most naysayers, as long as the rest of the world starves to death, it's okay. They still won't admit there has been climate change. And even if you aren't convinced mankind has something to with it, what would it hurt to err on the side of caution and reason and try to prepare for it just in case. What if you are wrong?”
Baucus Hopes For Backing Of "Desperate" White House On Health Care: The Hill
Commented Aug 04, 2009 at 11:26:08 in Politics
“My family health plan costs me $1155 per month and my employer pays 2/3 of that. That's more than my house and car payments combined! I'm fortunate to have a good health plan. But I know that $350 of that goes to overhead and the uninsured. That's a lot of money that could be going to better use. I would gladly pay that into a single payer system if I could could have guaranteed health care and help someone else get coverage too. I believe in free enterprise but health care costs are killing our economy. In 1993, 63% of small businesses offered health care to their employees; today it's 38%. That's a 25% drop since the Republicans killed the last attempt at reform. Are we too greedy or too stupid to see what's happening? Other countries that offer healthcare to everyone seem to do just as well or better than us and their businessmen and citizens are much happier. Is health care going to be America's Waterloo? And will Republicans and insurance companies finally be happy when they have killed the Golden Goose and relegated the US to third world status?”
