“I bought a Portable Photograph To Digital Picture Converter from Hammacher Schlemmer for 119.00. It's supposed to scan photos into digital format. It's basically a small scanner except it doesn't need a computer, you can just stick your memory card in there and save the jpegs. It looks simple enough to use.
I also purchased "Clocky," the clock that runs away, because my son likes to hit the snooze button way too much. Clocky gives you one chance to snooze and if you don't get up, it's supposed to jump off your nightstand using the wheels built on to it and roll around the room to hide - all while the alarm is still going off! This should be hilarious for me to see in action! My son, not so much. Nordstrom was the most reputable site that I could find with the least expensive price of 44.00.”

“For the second thing, I just set all five of my cell phone's alarms to go off in one to five minute intervals and keep it on the other side of my room. The only time that failed to keep me awake was after a 24 hour shift, and even then I woke up sitting against my dresser, so at least I got out of bed.”

Also, in case you missed it in your first read, Jason did in fact identify and quote at least one of the WH press corps reporters mentioned in the Politico article, i.e., Peter Baker of the NY Times.

“Well, what you "believe" contradicts the facts.
In case you didn't know, President Obama did not grant General McChrystal's request for 44,000 troops. He also rejected the initial strategy that General McChrystal put before him.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33538233/
So, it's tough to to make sense of your assertion that the President is "intimidated by and unable to contradict or dispute, those military officers..." Unlike Bush, this President did not accede power to the Generals. He took the time to deliberate and decided the strategy he believed was best to go forward with. Sorry if you don't like the facts, but they are what they are.
But, since you clearly have access to the Internet, you knew these facts already. Sadly, like David, you ignored the facts so that you could draw the narrative you wanted.”

“With these FACTS before you, "we know one of [] three things is going on. Either:"
1) You didn't research before you wrote this, because the facts show that the top premise of your article that the President under requested the resources needed to conduct the strategy he set forth is incorrect; or
2) You ignored the facts because they didn't fit with the narrative that you wanted to project, i.e., that President Obama's plan was designed to pander to the "media and political establishment's artificial definition of "strength."; or
3) The President is not left enough for you so you just make stuff up to get a dig in.
Actually, looking at the list, I'm going with all of the above.”

“Fanned for factuality. Sirota's plays so fast and loose with reality as to constitute propaganda. Look at the repeated emphasis on the "risk" of "100,000" troops' lives. While the death of anyone, most especially in this context any American soldier, is to be deeply mourned, and while I wish for the safe return of every one of them, the plain fact is that in eight-plus years of war our forces have suffered fewer than 1,000 deaths. As horrific as any such total may be, to insist that the president is risking "100,000" lives with his force expansion goes beyond sloppy thinking into outright disingenuity.”

“David, you should have researched this before you wrote it - and if you did and still didn't factor in...what's the word? Oh, FACTS, then that says a lot.
Surely you know that General McChrystal, the man who is leading the efforts in Afghanistan, requested about 44,000 troops - not 600,000 (which isn't 1/4) . Does the General count as one of the "U.S. Army experts who[m the President] relies on to" "know[] more about the numbers needed to run a counterinsurgency?"
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/10/26/AR2009102602065.html
Surely you know that Gen. McChrystal's troop request was for the expanded counterinsurgency campaign that he has proposed in Afghanistan.
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/president-obama-discuss-afghanistan-troops-mcchrystal-high-stakes/story?id=8708913&page=2
I know you had to have heard the General on 60 minutes say that his troop request reflected his “best assessment” of what he needs.
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/60487-despite-pressure-in-congress-mcchrystal-to-hold-firm-on-request-for-troops

Certainly you read the article here that included Gen. McChrystal's statement on President Obama's Afghanistan decision. In case you didn't he said, in part: "the President has provided me with a clear military mission and the resources to accomplish our task."

“They'll never let HER name come up HERE in response to your question. The question she asked on MorningJoe was along the lines of how can we say that we have a willing partner in Afg. when Karzi is so corrupt and all the fraud and incompetence and yadda, yadda, yadda. It's a waste of time, whatever. ZB said that such comments are really "not helpful" and are frankly "not responsible." Karzi was the only one in Afg willing to step up to the plate and those who "smear him" this way better have an alternate person in their pocket to put in his place if they want to him to leave. Then, he went to the corrpuption discussion and shortly after he started, they cut to the four squares with everyone on the screen, her mouth was ajar and her look said that she couldn't believe that he pwned her. It was a priceless look. I loved it! Mika just put her head down for a moment and then sent a look her way that said "yikes, sorry 'bout that."”
