when you travel you can see that the world system, which we helped set up, which primarily benefits Western countries, in fact disempowers most people.
this is why we need to be thinking bigger, and get past our narrow cultural views.

How should women with no education, no power and no birth control nor access to safe abortion limit their families?”

“I'm sure you mean well, but you obviously have no reference of history. First, we had to fight (re: military) to even be here - or at least not under British rule. But let's skip forward to 1941; without the military we would all be speaking Japanese and/or German right now. Freedom is not free. In our lives only two forces have willingly given or would give their lives for you - Jesus Christ and the American soldier. One died for our sins and the other dies for our freedom.

“Exactly. The "counter-culture" Boomer narcissism of 1968 totally undercut the idealism of the left earlier in the 60's. "Sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll" and "if it feels good, do it" easily trumped the hard work of genuine political struggle among the Boomers, who quickly and logically morphed into yuppies. What a shock that these Boomer yuppies raised a generation of kids who could get all excited over Obama as a "rock star" celebrity of world politics, but then abandoned the struggle like spoiled narcissistic brats the moment they were truly needed to support it and be committed and ACT.
