Don't Forget To Have Kids

Don't Forget To Have Kids

Commented Nov 09, 2009 at 23:47:46 in Living

“Where are all these single women "with resources" who are happy because they had babies without having to have a husband" some of you are talking about?

I'm a big ol' Austin liberal with a degree in business and journalism and I had a great career in my early 30's when I decided to have kids. I was married. I am not made of steel like Mika or I guess so many of you. I collapsed. Fell into a ball. I could achieve and excel at my job or my kids (really that was just achieving, not excelling) but not both so the job had to go. Thank God my husband was able to step it up.

Over years and a patchwork of nannies, friends and preschools I pieced together a successful PR firm. Until hubby had to move - and his job was the big haul, we moved.
Now, 45, here we go! Yes, my career suffered.

I was one of the women "with resources" before I got married to have kids. If I had taken that step alone - with all my plans: preschools and nannies and everything else I had lined up so my career wouldn't suffer - I shudder to think how I would have managed my new situation and the inability to concentrate on "having it all" at once or any other time.

Listen, I feel like a failure because of this but I think smart women who are planning on kids need to know.”

He should make sure they get no stimulus money. NONE. They should loose the head of their Law School and Science and Engineering schools to posts in the Administration. They are soooo needed and I'm sure ASU can spare them to an administration run by such a young, inexperienced man.

“First off, Van Susteren is a hack lawyer and a hack "journalist". She works for FOX people. They don't give a damn about her "journalistic misconduct". As a matter of fact, it gives her street cred. So just stop that.
But, save up on the story of Sarah becoming a Scientologist. That will be highly useful should she try to raise the pitchfork crowds again. Don't blow this story out too soon.”

41 Days Out (Rick Davis Day): "He was John McCain's campaign manager and it was felt you couldn't say no."

Commented Sep 24, 2008 at 13:26:57 in Politics

“I think the whole Rick Davis thing is a distraction...this is what came out last week - McCain got $190,550 from Fannie/Freddie.

McCain got 190,550 - $169k from "officers"
then $21,550 from employees - the number reported most widely

Barack got lots too, but it's made to look like Barack is more beholden to Fannie/Freddie
Barack got $16,000 from "officers"
then $126,349 from individual employees - the number reported most widely and pointed to constantly by McCain camp.

Here's a link to the story on CNN: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/19/fact-check-did-obama-profit-from-fannie-and-freddie/

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/19/fact-check-did-obama-profit-from-fannie-and-freddie/
Fact Check: Did Obama 'profit' from Fannie and Freddie?

a separate list looking at contributions from "directors, officers, and lobbyists for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac" for the 2008 campaign cycle. That list — using figures from the Federal Election Commission — shows McCain receiving $169,000, while Obama received only $16,000.

VERDICT
Partially true, but misleading. Donations don't come from companies. A list of employee contributions puts Obama second, but a different list including lobbyists and directors shows McCain getting more.”

“Arianna,
Where is the story about Dana Perino's statement to the press yesterday - that Osama Bin Laden was not the mastermind of 9/11. Where the hell is the story?”

Star2000dancer replied on Sep 11, 2008 at 16:04:35

“Osama was sick in a hospital during 911, If you look at the tape he supposedly released, you can easily tell it's not Osama Bin Laden. Osama never took credit for 911. That was just more lies. There was no Al Quada in Iraq until GW attacked. This was never a war, it was an occupation for oilo & war profiteering.

This is an old story that alot of people apparently are still not aware of. They delete me everytime I tell people to go to you tube, so we;ll see if this goes thru. But check out the 911 clips, there was alot of them. You will not get the truth from the media. I saw Arianna there yesterday & they kept interrupting her. She's one of the few who will tell you like it is. I hope she gets her own show soon.”

They vote from emotion and prejudice. They worry about who to drink beer with...which means they voted Bush in (sort of).
They would never complain about paper trails and still blame democrats for their taxes.
Finally, the thing the Repubs are so good at is making a $20k earner support things that will help a $2million earner. They fall for it everytime.”

“Whenever people talk about how BHO should hit back, they seem to be forgetting the media bias that makes absolutely everything he does into a "problem" or "gaffe". Yeah, in an alternate universe BHO could fight back the way you suggest, but that's just what the msm-mccain partnership is waiting for. Just imagine how they would twist that into a pretzel shape (like the "bitter" comments).

“I gave Sarah Palin the benefit of the doubt when John McCain proposed she be "a heart-beat away from the Presidency." Then I began reading what mainstream journalists reported about Ms. Palin: the pork projects she got for Wasilla, the debt load she left the city, her collecting per diem when she was living at home; I was particularly galled reading that, under Ms. Palin's "leadership," sexually assaulted women in Wasilla had to pay for their own rape kits! Then I heard Ms. Palin speak, misrepresenting her actions as governor (e.g., telling Congress that if Alaska wanted a bridge, it'd build one itself, not mentioning she kept the millions) and gratuitously insulting Senator Obama (and then calling him "sexist" for responding'). I see in her all that I came to loathe about Alaska, its wallowing in its own ignorance, its beating up the defenseless, its hiding its bribery and graft under a holier than thou veneer of hyper-religiosity, ad nauseam.

Paraphrasing Pearl Jam paraphrasing Phil Ochs: "here's to the land you helped tear out the heart of, Gov.. Palin won't you find another country to be part of."”

Now she has hit size 0 or 1 and I see no curves except those which bring in question of "unnatural" breast size.”
