Spending Bill Has $4 Billion In Pork

Spending Bill Has $4 Billion In Pork

Commented Dec 12, 2009 at 10:15:02 in Politics

“When the Repubs can explain to me where all the money for Iraq really ended up and why we had to go into trillion dollar debt for a war that was irresponsible and unnecessary, I'll start complaining about 4 billion in "pork". Shut the f * * * up, McCain. The reason you are not the President is that no one wants to hear your painfully ignorant and nearly unintelligible opinions anymore (along with the rest of your sad cohorts from the repub party).”

Obama: Health Care Overhaul Doesn't Have To Be Bipartisan

Commented Aug 05, 2009 at 14:42:44 in Politics

““Genuine bipartisanship,” he wrote, “assumes an honest process of give-and-take,

Where in this discussion have the Republicans offered "honest give and take"? When do they ever? When they begin to do so, we'll begin to take them seriously and listen.”

gino618 replied on Aug 05, 2009 at 14:45:51

“Since when is it within the power of the minority party to 'offer' honest give and take?

It lies with the majority leaders Pelosi & Reid.... the same leaders who locked the GOP out of the stimulus bill discussions....”

“You know, they accused the prez. of not wanting to be bi-partisan. So Dems were accomodating during the stimulus fight. What we got was watered down legislation. THEN, the Rethugs had the nerve to slam the Dems and Prez and say the stimulus was not working. Gee, I wonder why?

I don't know about you, but I'm sic.k and tired of these political games. The times are too serious. I hope Dems don't take the bait. The rethugs only want FAILURE under the administration. If millions have to suffer, so what? They got theirs.”

Rejoin reality - not everyone is able to get insurance through their work place. In addition, when you don't get health care through your employer, the insurance companies gouge the hell out of you.”

Commented May 28, 2009 at 22:53:39 in Politics

“Exactly. As more and more of us move from private insurance to the public option, the insurance companies will be forced to compete or they will slowly be driven out of business. Their employees will be scooped up by the public program. Eliminating the private insurance companies in one fell swoop would put millions (more) out of work. The public option lets the private insurance companies die a slow death with less damage along the way.”

“Education wasn't a "right" either in the constitution; yet we now think of it as one. The founders didn't intend for our Constitution to be a stagnate document. It was written to be inclusive and to lend itself to some interpretation as times changed. The founders were a lot smarter than most of us.”

“Have you ever been sick and NOT had access to health care? Try walking around with a lump in your breast for six months praying that you won't die before you can get a job that will offer you health insurance. "Mediocre" care is better than NO health care. And please, define "mediocre" care - site examples and statistics, please. It's not enough to just say Europe has "mediocre" care - can you give us examples? And isn't France the country that makes sure that a doctor is sent out on each emergency "911" call with an ambulance? I don't think that's exactly "mediocre" care! I would have loved to have some of that kind of care when I was uninsured and stressing about whether I had Breast Cancer or not (I did, I finally go insurance, and am now four years cancer free, but the anxiety and stress of that nightmarish period stay with me.). We MUST have a health plan that covers EVERYONE! NOW!”

“Are you kidding me? I was raised with not one spanking and time out was used on a regular basis. I raised my kids the same way. Seems to have worked just fine: one is an attorney; one a nurse practioner and one in sales. None were into drugs, alcohol, or shooting their classmates. They are all productive, thoughtful, and compassionate adults. To compare the argument against torture to how we raise our children is just ridiculous.”

Does anyone SERIOUSLY believe that the Supreme Court is going to overturn 44 million votes? Talk about unrealistic!”

“I don't think Obama is the least afraid of Bill. Bill's smart, but in my opinion Obama's smarter and has something neither Clinton's seem to understand: honesty and authenticity. Taking the high road seems to be his mantra and so far, it's worked quite well. He'll handle Bill - otherwise he wouldn't have offered HRC the job. I'm not happy about it, but I think it'll work out if it actually comes to pass - one way or another, Obama and the country will come out on top. But hey, I do really wish she'd stop the whining - it's is so very annoying and quite frankly, un-statesman like.”

Hillary needs to use him as a role model; hopefully, that's what she'll do whether she stays in the senate or moves to state. If she doesn't, either way there are solutions: the people of NY can fire her next election or if she moves to state, Obama can fire her. WIN - WIN, people.”

He gets a win-win situation - HRC DOES have the capability to be a great SOS if she listens to Obama and learns from his management style and follows his lead. Her savy of world leaders could actually put us in a good position with many nations that now doubt us - IF she toes the line. If she doesn't - you are right: she's FIRED. Done deal.”

Maybe Obama has a master plan - he knows he doesn't have to put up with her BS wants she's SOS 'cause he's got the mandate to push her out if she doesn't do well, or ignores his leadership. Either way, whether she stays in Senate, or takes SOS - Obama wins. As a junior senator she's not much of a threat and as SOS, Obama's her employer and SOS is an "at will" position.”

“Specifically, what has she done to earn a chairmanship? And which one would she want - Ted Kennedy's? Health Care? Uncle Teddy is not giving up his lead on this issue. HRC is a talented woman, no doubt but she really needs to get over this sense of entitlement she has. Being First Lady, a Clinton, or a woman does not automatically entitle her to a leadership role in the Senate. She needs to create that by taking action and getting some real legislation done. Less whining, more doing.”
