“This all sounds familiar....kinda like when Mitt Romey started running for President shortly after the 2004 election. But, I suppose, at least with Palin, Alaskans won't have to deal with her insulting her home state repeatedly to gain points with right wing nut jobs.
I'm sorry Alaska, she's gone and she'll only be back for visits once and awhile.”
“I can't say that I've ever felt like this in the five presidential cycles that I've been able to vote on. I feel like we've honestly pulled back from the edge of something dark and horrible. Being a resident of Massachusetts, I feel terrible about Prop 8...but we all can continue to take up that challenge, and dozens of other ones and bend history towards justice.
“I do take issue with one bit of this posting. It's not over. It's not over until next Tuesday, and all the votes are counted. Granted, the polling data looks great, and the electoral road map looks even better. But by definition, it is not over.
Keep working, keep calling, keep volunteer and let's finish the job.”
“Good article. And for the vast majority of people, I'd guess that you're dead on in your analysis.
My concern is the line in which rhetoric becomes action. To pick up your soccer analogy, I'd point out a story that I saw reported on in the past couple of days. Similar to your experience a father grew heated about the ongoing results of a game. He started acting beligerent. Someone confronted him, the man then drew a concealed weapon and pointed it at that persons head. IIRC, this occured down in Texas...and an off duty prison guard subdued the man before anything more tragic occurred.
Back to the campaign, the volume and tenor of the heated rhetoric has been rising. And we've seemingly reached the point where a small percentage of the population is perfectly willing to spew racist or violent rhetoric towards Obama, his campaign, and organizations like Acorn.
Reports in the past few days are even pointing out the transition from words to actions. Racist effigies, assaults on campaign staff, protests to heckle voters.
Riding that ragged line between stupid hateful words and illeagal action is something that disturbes me greatly. And I just hope that the people involved can pull back from the edge before something truly dire happens either before or after the election. As it certainly seems this is the type of environment that can feed the worst elements of our society.”
“As a point of order, Roche Pharmaceuticals, the Swiss Pharmaceutical company mentioned already owns a majority stake in Genentech. Has since long before the current financial crisis. They're just trying to acquire the 40-some odd percent of the company that they don't already own.”
I'd love to see a series of quick rapid fire issues...quick enough to identify with...but trying to load up as many as possible in the 30 second ad. Bush, the Invasion of Iraq, Enron, Katrina, Rumsfield, Cheney, Prisoner Torture, Gitmo, Foreclosures, Heckuva Job Brown, etc. Last Picture - John McBush.
The voice over should be simple...Four more years? ENOUGH.”

“This video is pretty effective and entertaining, though not TV quality.
