“Because people who are straight also care about equality for all people? I would feel passionately the same way if they were trying to make a law barring black couple from adopting a child, or stopping chinese couples from adopting a child. Equality should be the same for everyone regardless or race, age, gender, sexual orientation, or whatever other metric could be used to define it. Some of us just don't like discrimination, because it isn't cool, regardless of who its aimed at.”

At the heart of this matter, that's basically it.

“Some are stuck deeply in the closet, but their innate homosexuality causes them to seek out gays and become involved in gay issues in sort of an ersatz way of being part of our community.

Others have a psychological deficiency that creates a need to discriminate against others so that they can overcome their inferiority complex (see the findings on this by the husband/wife psychologists Foa and Foa).

Then there are some who are straight but sympathetic to and supportive of our community. They're wonderful people and can easily be distinguished from the others.”

“False. Religion brainwashes it's victims from incredibly early childhood, the most impressionable part of any humans life with threads of eternal damnation, punishment from god and promises of eternal paradise if we do what we're supposed to do.

If you're seriously trying to claim that this is incapable of inspiring action...you're the most deluded puppet I've seen in years.

Sure religion has inspired a few good things...but absolutely -nothing- when compared to the evils it has and continues to cause.

All this over a few fictional stories written by people so primitive that running water was borderline magic...just wow.”

As soon as you remove "of personal benefit to the one speaking" from the equation, there's no reason to lie about anything. Don't try to rationalize lying, it's unbecoming behavior for anyone...ALWAYS.

However, if the general populous can figure out the difference between good & bad, even though they are being lied to/ told half-truths, I don't see why a president can't.”

Japan Earthquake Shifted Coastline Maximum Of 8 Feet, Scientists Say

Commented Mar 12, 2011 at 22:52:09 in Green

“I have a hard time believing that volcanic eruptions, tectonic plate movement, electromagnetic/ magnetic anomalies, massive solar flares, erratic weather patterns & climate changes, and the like are all "...not connected in any way...".

I've yet to see anything in life that is completely isolated & disconnected from everything. Let's be honest, "not connected in any way" is a way to say "we don't know how it's connected; we're not that knowledgeable, but we're going to maintain that we are experts until we have been utterly disproved and even then we probably won't concede to having been wrong".”

MJinCanada on Mar 12, 2011 at 23:32:09

“Well, the theory has already been advanced that melting ice sheets in Antarctica could cause some tectonic plate shifting, because of rebound after thousand of tons of ice are removed. I know there are bits of Canada that are still rebounding a few millimetres a year even though the continental glaciers melted 8000 years ago.”

lenski on Mar 12, 2011 at 23:27:40

“Earthquakes result when the strain of tectonic plates "sticking" against the forces of movement are released, and are essentially inevitable along the edges of the continental plates, which is the basic explanation for the "ring of fire" around the Pacific ocean. Japan is close to, or on, a fault line separating two continental plates.

Seismologists have expected one or more really big earthquakes in and near Japan for years. The longer they went without a really huge rebalancing of tectonic forces, the more likely it became.

There is a connection among the various phenomena you cite, but their effects (including changes in the mass distribution of water due to atmospheric heating) are tiny when compared against the forces and masses involved in tectonic phenomena.

That said, the comparatively weak effects of the other events could very well move the schedule forward or backward in time, by weeks or even years. The only question was how soon (between now and 100 years from now). The answer to that question is now known to be "last week".

I fully accept the science of climate change, including the inevitable human devastation due to large population movements. Such triggers can only change when the earthquake happens, but there is nothing that would change the fact that Japan was headed for a big one. This is truly an act of nature/God/etc.”

ponderingmuch on Mar 12, 2011 at 22:59:38

“It is the birds falling from the sky, the millions of dead fish, the dead baby dolphins...the bees disappearing that strikes me as proof that everything is connected and massive lies are being told about it all.

All of that plus the axis shift, the solar flares, the moon coming closer...all of that.. something's happening here. What it is ain't exactly clear.

Also, for no reason at all, all of a sudden young people are smiling at me at random, like outside a 7/11, as if i am Betty White, whom I do not resemble and am at least a couple of decades younger than. I do live in Hollywood, so they must be thinking I am somebody, but I have no clue who.

Something is happening.”

“"Duh, winning", and "Tigerblood" are the best new catchphrases/words in a long time. Not since the 1990's, when "Dude" became highly celebrated, have we seen such a phenomenon.
"Tigerblood" is a synonym for backbone, fortitude, determination, b@lls, guts, or spirit; Charlie has it. "Duh, winning" is a replacement for antiquated sayings such as: "numbers don't lie", or "the proof is in the pudding", or "the facts speak for themselves", or "the truth is self evident"; in regard to ones self. Clearly Charlie Sheen does have poetry in his fingertips, his very way of communicating reduces complex concepts into simple, pleasant catchphrases/ buzzwords. Awesome!”
