“wanna hear a joke:

Recently a consortium of pro-life groups announced that they are funding and opening free pre-natal care clinics across the US....”

isadora replied on Nov 26, 2009 at 08:35:24

“It's not a joke. I spent three hard years as a social worker for the state. My clients were teenage foster children. The 'pro-life' gang is having great difficulty obtaining one of its prime commodities-healthy, preferably white, newborn infants for one of their businesses-right wing adoption agencies. Since approximately 90&% of single women who give birth in the US now keep their children the pro-life adoption people, often with absolutist religious associations have become desperate. They are hunting their commodities down in the womb more aggressively than ever. These clinics will assist them greatly in this hunt. Now they can assess the product and work on the woman's feelings at the same time. Jackpot.”

“naw, extroverts are fine as they are since they are the majority - which is what all introverts should aspire to in order to smooth things over. We introverts need to be more like extroverts to lessen misunderstanding and possible conflict. It is in our self interest.”

happymomof3 replied on Nov 12, 2009 at 13:03:10

“Wow, I am hoping that is sarcasm because, if taken to its logical conclusion, all minorities - no matter the category (religious, cultural, ethnicity, etc) should aspire to be more like the majority to "smooth things over". Just my opinion, but that's not in the interest of anyone.

By the way, I agree that extroverts are fine as they are ... so are introverts and everyone in between.”

“now, now, the extroverts are the majority and our society runs, for the most part, on an extrovert model.

As the minority introverts should fix themselves to conform to a level where introverts can blend in and prosper.. It is in the self interest to do so. It will makes us more mentally stable and health....

Just taking the first step of the two step plan. I don't dance though.”

Isn't what you are really saying is; don't be so different that it causes you to be unable to function in the society of the majority. Society is a force that will not and can not be expected to change in any way that will be meaningful to those with the "pathologies".

Koran is a different story altogether. Spreading Islam by force is a noble way. And Sharia law should replace the law of the land.”

McVeigh AFAIK had no religious component in his extremism or at least it was mostly political.

“Organized religion is a social entity used by fallible humans to gather money and power using faith and religious doctrine to convince people to believe in a like manner, to provide money and other forms of wealth, to provide converts (sometimes through violent or immoral means), to provide offspring that will be brought up in the social entity, to provide PR so that they draw in additional converts or walk ins as it were.

They are on-going business enterprises seeking to compete socially in their society and the world, seeking to socially control a mass of adherents, and in many cases to socially dominate their greater society or even the world.”

“I have owned guns for hunting and for target practice. I have in the past but no longer own a handgun. I have a few rifles that I inherited and a shot gun for skeet. I have not hunted in years.

So I am not compelled to own guns, but you are right that many people collect them, some trade or sell on occasion. Some are of historical value. Some people collect older military rifles for example. Some display them and I would image some of those are not in any shape to fired.

Then there are those people who find it necessary to have a gun for protection, there is nothing wrong with that except I don't think it is pressing need for most people. That would compel them. Now if they are not thoroughly trained a gun is probable worthless. Better to get a dog and if someone breaks in, run.

If you have some hero complex you might be compelled to pack a gun so you can save the day when the time comes you don't need to be carrying one. macho and creepy, but not rational.”
