“That was not meant as any kind of slam. Women are the ones who generally take care of sick people in their family or face things themselves, They are also usually the ones who have to handle the bills. I don't see how you take that as a slam.”
“Echoing all along Tuckerman's Ravine, throughout the Kangamangas Highway, to the shore of Lake Winnipasocki and eastward to the Hampton Beach Casino- comes the roar of the New Hampshire people - "I'm voting for the Masshole!"
Not gonna happen!”

“Yes he was speaking to the republican womens club. No preexisting conditions in that room I'm sure! You can't get four women together without at least one having some kind of medical situation. Either current or in their past.”

“Slamming woman kind is totally uncalled for in this discussion. Crude.”
“The same can be said about the 280 K that McConnell says have lost their coverage. Have you asked if that number is accurate and where it came from? I agree with your point overall but it should work both ways.
The Medicaid point is taken but I think it's more complicated. If someone now has Medicaid and has asthma they can get regular treatment rather than showing up at an emergency room (which taxpayers will pay for). One ER trip costs more than a year of preventative treatment. If Medicaid recipients are healthier overall then costs will go down.
I agree about proving the numbers- every number that's thrown out there should be backed up with proof.”
“The problem is that no one challenges these numbers. No one has been asked to qualify the 280K people losing their insurance. Where did this number come from?? Prove it! The same with the 5 mil they are talking about nationally. It's the first rule of journalism! Check the facts! No one is doing that yet the media is promoting those numbers!”
“Indeed. But at her level lots of people have brains. They just don't have the courage to go where logic, reason and compassion takes them. They let fear stop them. She seems to feel the fear, but keep moving forward - the hallmark of courage.”
“Scott Brown only won the senate because the dem candidate Martha Coakley was a terrible campaigner. She was stunningly bad. Also, the Kennedy family should have gotten more involved in that race. Ted Kennedy should have resigned when he was failing and supported a successor.
Brown is a nice guy but the people of New Hampshire are smart enough to see that his election was not some feet of brilliance- it was a fluke.”

“Clearly there were mental health issues with Adam. I have read that the mom tried to get some intervention and also that he was on antidepressants. When you live with someone who is mentally ill it effects you. I did not say she was on any meds, but I will bet the store that she suffered from stress and anxiety. She may have been a bit paranoid- that might explain the abundance of guns and her willingness to continue supplying them to her son. Just a thought. We all would like to find some explanation for this horrible crime.”
“No mention of medication. I don't have the source at hand but I have read that many of these shooters are on some kind of psych drug prescription. We have no idea what happened in that house. Maybe she tried to stop him from this horrible deed. I am very anti gun but this is as much a story about mental health as it is about guns. The mental health of both the mother and son.”

“This is verbatim from the full report: "Investigators found no evidence to suggest the shooter had taken any medication that would affect his behavior or by any means to explain his actions on December 14, 2012."”

“What meds was Adam on?
Mom, if on any meds, does not play a part, since she was the first victim, not an instigator.”
“Right- did she apologize for putting a target on Gabby Giffords? No she did not. and let's not forget "paling around with terrorists". Why doesn't Bashir use the classic line...."my words were taken out of context"”
“I keep reading on this thread that other people would not get off this lightly. I believe that is probably true. Isn't there a reporter who might be curious enough to examine this? The records will speak for themselves. All someone has to do is look.”

“I understand your point and still feel empathy for the families of the victims. Nonetheless, this situation is a bit different because Deeds was trying to place his son in a mental institution. Adam Lanza's mother was not trying to put him in a facility to prevent harm to herself or others.
When families are trying to get mental assistance for loved ones, they should never be rejected due to unavailability of space. The rejection is harmful to everyone.”
“That's right. It wasn't mentioned at all that much of this program was taken back from private companies who "managed" loans. Not to mention that god awful Sallie Mae. There is ton of work to be done but at least the money is coming back to the government instead of these "managers"”
“The problem is not the ACT the problem is the WEB SITE
I'm amazed at how many IT experts we now have in congress. And how many of these guys who were so opposed to the program are now so concerned about people getting signed up. If they delay the deadline what about the people who did sign up? Will their new plans start on Jan 1?
I'm sure there are real problems here but the hyperventilating by the press is a joke.”

“Ban it, regulate it, don't use it as a source of funds. That is impinging upon fair trade and eqality. I do not use tobacco products and understand the dangers, All legal products should receive the same tax. The slippery slope comes when we feel rightous by using taxes as fines for products we do not like.”
