Bill Clinton Blasts Olbermann For Politicizing Health Care Event, Refuses To Go

Commented Nov 21, 2009 at 15:02:59 in Politics

“As someone who contributed to the clinics, after hearing about them on Countdown, I resent Bill Clinton's attitude, and I'm generally a great admirer of his. Most of these clinics wouldn't be HAPPENING if it weren't for the publicity and money Keith Olbermann brought to them. Sorry, Bill, this is another North Carolina moment (or was it South Carolina? It all seems so long ago....)”

LiberalDemIda replied on Nov 21, 2009 at 15:10:27

“Please don't be resentful. See them as a team.

KO brought the situation to the public's attention and he did a wonderful job, beyond expectations, but let's not forget it was Pres. Clinton's political savvy, power, and influence that got the hold-outs to vote yes.

Although in no way taking away the importance of what KO has done for the process, the free clinics, and the people in those states, In the end, and long term, HCR will mean more to them and the rest of us.”

Probably not....”

TED KENNEDY DEAD: Legendary Senator Passes Away From Brain Cancer (VIDEO)

Commented Aug 26, 2009 at 12:59:05 in Politics

“Ted Kennedy's life was an example of someone who made big mistakes in his youth, and then not just turned his life around, but became an example for others. He was often called "The Lion of the Senate", and his legacy will be in all he helped. As others have said, I hope his passing might spur some in both the house and senate to pass meaningful healthcare reform.”

“For what it's worth, here's my email to the jerk....

Mr. Frago;

I hesitate to use your title, as I feel that you fail to live up to even that position, as lofty as you seem to feel it is.
When I was a child, and that was 50 odd years ago, when I would tell my mother that "everyone was doing it", her
reply would be, "if everyone jumped off a cliff, would you, too?"

This is 2009; our republic is well past its' 200th birthday, yet, still, today, we can't get beyond our racial beginnings?
Even the Civil War was almost 150 years ago.

You're a public servant; isn't it time you left the schoolyard and started acting like one, and at very least like an adult?

I hope you don't truly represent the citizens of the city who's council you sit on.”

“For all of the dissing of Sprint, I've got to say that I've had their service for 10 years, and never
had any trouble. I originally got Sprint when I lived in Texas and was planning to move to
Georgia within a few months. Sprint was the ONLY cellular company who was willing to give
me a Georgia phone number...AT&T and Verison told me that it had to be a Texas number
since that's where I was currently residing. To me, that was customer service. I've driven
throughout the country, and only had dropped calls in the Rockies, so I can't complain.
I got Blackberry about 6 months ago, so now I have to wait awhile for the Pre, but I'll get it
when I can.”

Michelle's Way: Lessons In Buddhism From The First Lady

Commented Apr 09, 2009 at 16:56:21 in Living

“About 10 years ago, following the death of my mother, I went through a period of deep depression. I went to a psychologist once a week who recommended a book to me, and while browsing at the bookstore I found books on Buddhism. Suddenly I started reading book after book, and realized that the tenets of Buddhism were doing me more good than all the psychology and the talking and the medication. 10 years later, I can't say that I'm a practicing Buddhist, but I hope I can say that I'm a better person for trying each day to incorporate more and more of the practice. I was raised Jewish but was totally non practicing, and consider myself at best agnostic, if not atheist, but the core principles of Buddhism, I think, are the principles that many of the three monotheistic religions claim to themselves but have forgotten to practice.”

I went through therapy about my mothers death- she died when I was 5 days old- and later in life things things started surfacing that brought me into needing to understand

What's great about Buddhism is it is more about understanding the nature of the mind than a religion

Buddha doesn't speak about god- Buddhism is considered non-theistic - it is an exploration into being a fully awake human being- enjoy the beauty of this birth and be loving

Treasure yourself,

“Why would it be necessary to have studied theology and philosophy to declare oneself an atheist? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would imagine that most of us grew up with a firm grounding in the religion of our parents, and the adult decision to not believe is generally more thought out than the easier choice to simply continue along the path of our upbringing. I have no fear of religion...I was raised a Jew, and still feel an historic bond even as I have no desire to enter a synagogue. Perhaps you have a fear of a lack of religion rather than the contrary...”
