“Has someone elected you as speaker for all Hispanics? How do we know your facts are correct. You know that information how? Perhaps you read all of your information in the media. What is written in not what is, but only what is written.”

“It's a political ploy is all. It is "reported" to be the truth and so it must therefore be so. That BO said it is not in question, I'm sure that "he" believes it. We know that many are "for" amnesty. The prez "uses" that desire to motivate people to vote for him. A wise person will realize this when it happens "on either side" and not believe it at all. Unforunately, usually, (but not always), the young, politically uneducated, and the left wing leaners, will believe these lies. I'd say, "don't believe it"! Just my opinon though.”

“All politicians lie alot and make up stories that are wholy untrue or worse only partly true. When they're answering unchecked questions they have to rely on their memories, and we know how bad those are for everybody. As the old saying goes, "some truth with a smidge of lie is the best lie there is". The press is the greatest example of all in this country, followed by politicians, and then pathological liars. Those that believe that eveything on the internet is truth are also greatly misguided.”

“I am Hispanic and I read and pay attention to what is going on in this world. Your just a Kool-Aid drinking Democrat who believes everything they make up to try and get us to vote for Obama who hasn't done a dam thing for anyone! Obama knows he is going to lose because he even said it himself. We need a new direction and Obama is not it for this country. All my Hispanic friends will be voting for Obama this time around. You could fool us once, but not twice!!!!!!”
“How many of your ancestors are from another country? How many of you who are complaining about Hispanics coming to the United States of America have seen these words on the Statue of Liberty?:
Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free;
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless,
Tempest-tossed to me
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

“That was written by a poet, and it still doesn't give one the right to come here illegally. Coming to America legally is not a problem. Sneaking in is the problem; then demanding all the rights and priviliges of a citizen and using the freedoms granted and payed for by those citizens is the crime here. Yes many of the illegals do work hard and unfortunately have been duped by slavers at times to believe that the law is going to throw them in prison if the talk about what happened. That you can't see any of that makes YOU an accessory to the crimes. Everyone wants to live here if given a choice. That just can't happen. Then it's the real "insult" to those aliens who have made the effort and done the right thing and "qualified" under the law to become a citizen which is another thing YOU, (and apparently many other with criminal intent), do not understand.”

“Most "complaining" about immigrants has to do with Illegal immigrants. My Great Grandfather came here from a different country, but he followed protocal and the laws at the time to do so. That is the difference.”

“All of my relatives and those of my Latino husband came from other countries.......LEGALLY and with a desire and comittment to becoming citizens of this great country. No complaint with Hispanics emmigrating to the U.S..........LEGALLY. Have actually read the words on the Statue of Liberty many, many times since we live in the shadow of Lady Liberty and Ellis Island. There is no inscription encouraging the illegal crossing of sovereign borders.”

“I do not believe there is a problem with any immigants coming to this country. Our problem is they are coming illegally by the droves. And putting a large burden on the legal people in this country, by taking jobs, demanding the staples of life, demanding health care, just plain demanding. Our ancestors worked for these things over years and years. Our ancestors did not get these things in a day, a week, or even a year. It took a lot of hard work and time to aquire what Americans have today and it will take Obama less than another 4 years to destroy what he has not already destroyed. Romney/Ryan 2012”

“My ancestors came here to this country legally through ellis island and no one is complaining about any nationality coming here legally. It is the illegal ones that need to go. No amnesty otherwise for all those that came here legally it would be a spit in their faces. Don't quote the statue of liberty to me I know all about it. This is a country of laws if you don't follow the law you have to face the law. If you don't like our laws no one is forcing you to stay here. If you throw out one law then get rid of all the rest. It's a sad day here when we allow illegals to try to dictate the way the laws should be interpreted.”

“That was then; this is now. Illegal fence climbing into the US is ILLEGAL. Send them back and let them apply legally. If the Dems want to change the Constitution to meet their liberal goals, then we can change that out-of-date slogan as well.”

“I agree with the wishes of the father who does not want the death of his son politicized. It's just not enough for any of you to say he has your condolences. What you need to do is shut up about it and let the family mourn in peace.
It is our right to have opinions. There will always be both sides that will be touted as the way of things depending on the agenda of the one vocalizing what they think. I believe that unless you are there in person to see what is happening that you consider you may not have all the facts and ergo you could be wrong.
I respect the Office of The President of The United States of America. In my opinion, every American should hold that respect for the Presiden whoever he is. I challenge any one to step up, if you could, and be Super President without any flaws, completely successful in what you need to achieve and make every American happy with you. What a challenge, eh?”
“Abe Martin, you really make some eloquent points that many are overlooking. You have described only a small bit of what it is like to be in survival mode. So many of the poor class of people in this country have no other way to live without the assistance they get from food stamps, Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security benefits which actually belong to them.
I wonder if Romney has considered that if he and his sidekick are instrumental in banning abortions that many of the poor women who are doing that to keep from trying to raise a starving baby. So he takes away the assistance, raises taxes on what little they are able to earn and then forces women to have babies they cannot support without that very assistance. It follows that Mitt Romney cannot even bother to consider such a concept because he simply does not care and probably is clueless about it to start with. He has not made it a priority to examine destitution and how it affects human lives.
I don't believe this man deserves to be President. If he is elected, many will suffer right along with all of us. It's a shame and a disgrace that is what it might take to make people wake up and vote for the man who will do the most for everyone and not just the rich.”
“About time they do something to stop this backbiting. Why can't it be everyday? I bet most Americans are like me, they hate the commercials from candidates and would love to see them disappear alltogether.
It was said well in the paragraph in the article above:
"In a letter to both candidates last week, MyGoodDeed.org founders David Paine and Jay Winuk, whose brother died at the World Trade Center, urged the candidates to make the day about unity, not politics."
Don't you think this country needs more of the former and none of the latter?”
“Because it's Christmas and just as many people, I love the celebration of the season. Others do not have to be annoyed with someone wanting to eliminate the name of their beliefs and try to turn it into generic, all encompassing and politically correct nonsense.”
“This just really sucks the big one. That attitude makes me cringe more than the "Happy Holidays" I hear all too often. Does this mean all Hanukkah Bushes are to be called "Holiday Bushes"? Bet any Jewish people living in Rhode Island would not see that as appealing. I will continue to wish everyone I talk to a Merry Christmas and just let anyone try to mess with my Tannenbaum, I will react in a rather hostile way. (Tannenbaum is a German word meaning a species of fir tree that is traditionally used for Christmas trees.)”

“F/F!!!! All this row as if the very WORD did not explain the definition. If I have a tradition called CHRISTmas, guess what I'm celebrating, so don't try to take it away and change the name. Find your own holiday and I don't care where the first tree or flakes of snow started it all. I care that CHRISTmas was started to celebrate the birth of CHRIST, whenever He was born....”
artcave on Nov 28, 2012 at 15:43:00
“I think it's wonderfully telling that you'd wish people a Merry Christmas as a hostile act. Tells us exactly what you and your version of religion is all about.
As to the rest of your post: Tannenbaum means fir tree. Fir trees are traditionally used as symbols of everlasting life, because they are Ever Green (get it?). Presumably that's the connection to Christ.
But in that case they'd be better symbols around the death of jesus, not his birth.
So why are they used at christmas? Because in cold climes, PRIOR to christmas tannenbaums (fir trees) were a symbol of everlasting life, something very important to people growing colder and colder, days getting shorter, even as supplies dwindle. They are a sign that the world isn't dying and that spring will come again.

Wow; what a horrible, bitter attitude.”

“"That attitude makes me cringe more than the "Happy Holidays" I hear all too often. "
Why does "Happy Holidays" make you cringe? If someone doesn't know what you celebrate, it's a nice, inclusive term. And it includes Christmas, as well as the many other holidays that fall this time of year. Why would a nice greeting that includes whatever you celebrate make you cringe?”
For over 40 years I have been a single mom and grandmother and I am happy. I am alone but not lonely. When you get to be my age, you can see things that are right in front of your eyes that you couldn't see when you were 20 to 30 something. I don't think women need men. Conversely, men need women more. Often, it's a mom replacement they are looking for.
Your comments about the media and the proliferation of shows and films that exploit relationships as being so primary to human existence is transparent. Are we meant to be guided by that? Would you have us believe there is no alternative for these maddened individuals who must mate? I am a published writer and I see where you may be going with your stance that will no doubt help to sell some of your books.
Your article made me angry. You admit you write with a view based on your own preferences rather than the view of countless women like myself who, when left without a mate, must soldier on and find ways to be happy. It sure does not take a man to fill that position. If your need to interact with others is so intense, go back to school, learn to cook, travel, join the countless venues that will allow you to experience different people. Get something for yourself out of life instead of losing yourself in a mate.
“Who do you think is promoting this controversial topic? In the name of searching, in desperation, for some kind of news to report, the horrid media comes up with this kind of nonsense all the time. It really is disgusting how a time that is fun for kids has to be turned into something that is bad for us.
Organized religion has become so in your face it is hard to accept the good parts of it. Who do I blame for trying to spoil my Halloween? It's a time that promises the thrill of going out in the dark with friends to have an adventure that includes candy that is cherished. So I doubt very many kids think of it as anything at all to do with religion. Bah! What a load of bulldust.”
