“YEP! Thank you GOP! I own a business and I can attest to this sentence. Every time since the House was taken by the GOP, CONSUMER CONFIDENCE has taken a severe nose dive. The regular GOP tantrums have nearly destroyed EVERY business in my area. Election years are great for business because Boehner tells the GOP to knock it off, in fear of losing his power. He deserves to be FIRED!”
“"This strategy is enunciated fairly commonly, and conservatives tend to complain that their Democratic opponents prefer to treat women as single-issue voters, and constantly work to box conservatives in on issues like abortion when all those conservatives want to do is talk about all the great economic freedom women are going to have."
They only get boxed in by themselves and their record of legislating against women's best interests. All the Dems have to do is put up their voting record and the GOP is done, regarding the female vote. And I guarantee the GOP it isn't just about abortion. Women's access to family planning and birth control IS an economic issue. The GOP just doesn't seem to get that!”
“You are CLUELESS about the individual market for one. I have been purchasing as an individual for the past 17 years. The individual market for health insurance has been the most volatile and expensive market for which to purchase health insurance. We have not had the purchasing power of the corporate world, so we have been yanked around, dropped, sky rocketing premiums and lack of coverage. I, for one, could only EVER afford catastrophic care. I had to pay for all my doctor visits AND any prescriptions I might need. It was both precarious financially, but also health wise, as I've aged. I went on my exchange and for the first time in SEVENTEEN years, I will be fully covered, for half what I currently pay. I don't give me any BS about now I'm subsidized. I don't have the benefit of an employer subsidizing me and I have spent 17 years subsidizing the group market by purchasing as an individual. The other comment I have to make is if you don't have children in school, YOU still pay taxes to educate the children of this country. I am a 55 year old female, and I will be paying for prostate cancer for my male counterparts. We are all in this together, and your b*tching about covering maternity is very telling about how you regard the nation's women and children.”

“I use maternity benefits as an example - I even said "i.e." which means "for example." No disrespect intended.
Your points are valid and I respect your opinion. However, I don't agree that the government has the right to mandate that everyone buy a standardized policy with coverages many, many people don't need. This is a typical "big government" solution - throw everyone in one big bucket and design something that will somehow get by. Won't be great for anyone, just adequate enough. And since we haven't seen the fallout from his ACA debacle, we really don't know if it will work, do we. Assuming we ever get the truth from our government, we won't know if it "works" for a few years at the earliest.........good luck to you.”

“Good post! I have been buying an individual policy also -- in the 'high risk pool', aka
'pre-existing condition'. Expensive, yet I was grateful my state had such a plan.”
“They showed their hand for years, and this 50 something female will NEVER vote Republican, because of it. They can flower up their language all they want, their policies regarding women, STINK. Their contempt and lack of respect for women, tells me everything I need to know about this party, and guess what, GOP women are just enablers of the GOP male contempt!”
“Hahahahaha! Another election year joke from THE Boehner. The GOP can't win elections without the majority population voting for them. I can hardly wait to hear the male GOP candidates waxing poetic on the female anatomy this election cycle. The terminal hubris always strikes the GOP!”
“She's a woman speaking on behalf of women's issues. I would certainly expect a woman to represent other women, regardless of their political aspirations. Particularly regarding rape and abortion. We all know so well, GOP men haven't a clue.”
“I have NOT read the bill. I have however, history of their previous bills to go on. Nobody tells me to think anything. I run my own business and since the House was taken by the GOP, I've twice considered closing a 17 year old successful business. I and many other business owners look at our books and have proof of the GOP concern for small business. It doesn't exist!”

“HR 1105 passed today with bipartisan support. Just look it up.”
“Every bill that comes up from these guys is SO TOXIC, nobody would gets near them with a two foot pole. Alcoholics and religious fanatics don't know how to play well with others. I can't imagine this will be any different. If anything, you can count on the GOP's predictability. Their insatiable desire for all consuming power trumps any ability to govern. They have shown us that, time and time again.”

“You've read the bill? What parts do you find toxic?
You haven't read it and don't need to. Your opinions are based on what others tell you to think.”
“Small business concern from the GOP!?! That's laughable! I own a small business and the GOP could care less about small business as demonstrated by their behavior these past 3 years. They have been a destroyer of consumer confidence AND small business, with their ever loving tantrums.”

“The bill passed today......again. Get over it. Tell Harry to vote.”
“Since people have until December 15th to start their January 1st premium and until March 31st to get insurance, there is still time for people to both ENROLL and make a PAYMENT. It just kills you that people would do either, doesn't it.”
“You don't have to be forced to accept anything. You can stew in your beliefs all you want and watch while the world moves on without you. Be aware, my beliefs to love my fellow man with compassion and respect and to treat others as I wish to be treated, will be extended to you, regardless of your fear.”
