“MiaMia, you hit the nail on the head. Here in California, motel owners get notices from city/state/county when there are complaints of illegal activity - some have been shut down.
I remember there was an investigation here about convicted felons/child molestors/sex-offenders were living in motels/hotels because no one would rent them an apartment. This was on the news. Haven't heard anything about this lately.

As far as the biological mother, to me, she seemed too calm. Are you kidding me, she politely answered questions, then says "I looked out..." Had that been me, the entire trailer park would have known MY child was missing - I would have screamed my daughters name, banging on doors demanding to know the whereabouts of my daughter. And sorry to say, I know of no mother that puts a 5-year-old child to sleep at 5:30 in the evening.

I don't know the policies of the big hotel/motel chains in NC, but here in California, you must use a credit card for incidentals.”
