“Okay, you are right...don't worry about us...we put you in office and many of us will not be fooled again....no point in worrying about so many people that will sit home and watch a movie in 2012 instead of standing in the rain for hours to pull a lever for "Change we can believe in"......at this point i am used to cynical remarks from career hacks......No Worries Rahm....”

VikingQuest replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 19:58:08

You should look at everything and everyone in Washington with a cycnical view to start . . . then watch their actions . . . instead you put your faith in a guy with no record.”

BandsofBlack replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 19:53:13

“I sure as hell won't be fooled again either.

And I was fooled. I fell for it hook, line and sinker. We live in a very conservative area in a very conservative state. We put an Obama sign in our yard and it was stolen. We put out another and would take it in at night, but it was stolen too. We then put a third inside the window and had rocks thrown at our window. They broke part of the vinyl and scratched the windows. We still left it there. We then had eggs thrown at our house - our stucco house. A whole lot of them. It took us an entire day to scrub the mess off, but we still kept the sign up.

We also gave 'til it hurt. And I wore my stupid Obama t-shirt wherever I went, despite the insults hurled at me, and hurled they were.

That's how much I believed in Obama's message of change and hope for the people of this country.

That's how stupid I was.

But I will never be that stupid again.”

“nonsense, with the exception of La. and Tenn. (i will get to them later)....these states are either tourist or retirement havens....young people and those with active minds who don't spend their days golfing or going out for the early bird special...would most likely be miserable living in these places (maybe Hawaii is an exception)....La. and Tenn. well, they are in the deep South a culture which deplores direct communication of one's negative feelings....i also doubt if there were many poor people or minorities living in any of these states that are part of this "survey"”

TheBlackCat replied on Dec 18, 2009 at 12:19:13

“I totally agree with you about the deep south. People aren't very big on putting on a face that doesn't reflect reality. For instance at first in the deep south people seemed like the nicest folks I ever met...but then after I lived there for awhile I found many of them were only nice to you when they thought you were exactly like them. The second they found out you weren't a Christian, or conservative, or straight, or whatever, then the facade fell flat and they were the meanest people I'd ever known.

Similarly they aren't very honest with how the really feel. My father in law is the meanest, angriest man I've ever known but he'll insist that he is a jolly old man who feels sorry for all those bitter liberals.

But then again, there are parts of the deep south I love. My husband is from the deep south and he's great. and there are little beauties and joys to be found, and there ARE people who are genuinely nice accepting people. They just don't seem to be the majority.”

He replied, "It is because I can live anywhere in the world that I live in the Mississippi Delta."”
