“I'm sure she's also clueless about Bush reading "The Pet Goat" (also called "My Pet Goat") to the schoolchildren and not stopping when he was advised of the attack. I seem to recall kind of a deer-in-the-headlights look (of course, that was status quo for Bush).”

On the other hand, Perino appeared on Pox News, the bastion of revisionist history, so it's not at all surprising.”

“Wow... if a person didn't know better, you'd think that Seinfeld never left the air. With only Julia Louis-Dreyfus being the only one active currently in TV, I wonder what it would take (and how much money it would take) to bring back the show that was about nothing. They all seem to have the same interactions, the same comedic timing... like no time passed at all. Would be interesting to see how they spent their time in jail (aside from performing for the inmates, that is).”

“One thing I look forward to is the day, hopefully soon, that science can prove beyond a doubt that a person's sexual orientation is a matter of genetics, not choice. I want all these homophobic, self-righteous religious wingnuts to eat crow. Unfortunately, they'll do the same with that proof that they do with the age of the world... they'll dismiss it as scientific propaganda. After all, many of the bible thumpers say the same thing when confronted with scientific evidence that the world is older than the 6,000-some-odd years that the bible supposedly timelimes. The wife of a friend of mine is a fundamentalist, and claims that either science is lying about things like dinosaur fossils that are millions of years old, or that God is somehow testing us by "tricking" us, and that people who believe the scientific proof are not going to be saved. I won't even talk to her anymore because all she does is prosthelytize.”

Ipanemagirl replied on Nov 20, 2009 at 12:27:33

“I cant stand those zealots either! Know exactly what you mean, mind boggling when we know that humans , homo sapiens, have been around for more than 200k years....
I've been told that the fossils of dinosaurs we found are all due to Noahs flood....can't beat that one!
Guess Noah could not possibly fit those big dinos in his little arc! But funny that they were not even mentioned in the bible at all.”

JohnJames replied on Nov 20, 2009 at 12:01:57

“Common sense, not science, ought to be enough for people with any common sense. Why would anyone choose to be gay in a society as bigoted toward it as ours. Do those teenagers choose it who get disowned by their Christian fundamentalist parents? Are gay youth in this country some seven times more likely to attempt suicide than their peers because suicide is a fun part of the gay "lifestyle". Do people risk death for the "choice" in some countries when they simply could have chosen to be heterosexual?”

LebronJeremy replied on Nov 20, 2009 at 11:39:24

“The hypothalamus of gay men is typically smaller than the hypothalamus of straight men. Women also have a smaller hypothalamus. I don't exactly see the correlation because that part of the brain regulates body heat and other mundane functions, but still.”

SiberianRat replied on Nov 20, 2009 at 11:38:37

“I think it would be better if everyone quit being so wrapped up in others' sexual orientation. Seems weird. Also, if they find a genetic link, it'll be looked at as a correctable defect by those who rail against the "gay agenda," whatever that is. Naw, let's just learn to accept and respect ourselves and each other and save science $$ for better uses.”

Ivriniel replied on Nov 20, 2009 at 11:37:35

“I rather doubt that science will ever prove that sexual orientation is purely genetic. If something as basic as height has a genetic and an an environmental component, then I don't see how something like sexual orientation can be purely genetic.”

Daley Rips Reporter Over Michael Scott Question (VIDEO)

Commented Nov 19, 2009 at 11:10:33 in Chicago

“Yes, because if Michael Scott was either involved in anything illegal, had serious depression, or some other reason for ending his life, I;m sure he would have shared those feelings with the media and his friends and family.

The truth is that even "good people" do stupid things... nobody, including his defenders (like you, Daley and those spotlight-hungry ministers who stop at nothing to cry "racism") knows what went on in Michael Scott's head. Daley was way off base criticizing the ME; all she did was announce her findings based on the available forensic evidence. That's "grandstanding"? Maybe Daley knows why Scott was depressed, and doesn't want things coming out.

You could say the same about Chris Kelly, Blagojevich's buddy... everyone said he was a "good guy" and had ni reason to kill himself. Then why did he?

I'm sorry... the loss of any life is a tragedy, but to rush to anyne's defense simply because of their "goodness" is ridiculous; neither you nor anyone else knows what Michael Scott was thinking.”
Costco Stops Carrying Coca Cola Products

Costco Stops Carrying Coca Cola Products

Commented Nov 17, 2009 at 23:20:38 in Business

“If you look at pricing of Coca-Cola products in general, they seem to have raised them higher and faster than Pepsi or Cadbury Shweppes (7Up/Dr. Pepper). I'm sure that's part of the issue... Coke feels that, as the number 1 soft drink manufacturer, they can stick it to the consumer.”

rain39 replied on Nov 19, 2009 at 11:58:37

“+
+I have noticed over the past 2 years that the coke price has gone up faster than any other soft drink so I only buy it when it is on special which is much less often now. I think Coke is shooting themselves in the foot, again. They also stopped making lime coke and vanilla coke in the plastic bottles you can grab at the supermarket. Consequently, I try to remember to take my own water. We live in Texas and during the hot months it is essential to have fluids with you during a long day out in the heat.

Commented Nov 16, 2009 at 07:25:01 in Politics

“That seems to be the battle cry of the fearmongerers. There is nothing in either the Senate or House bills that mandates that small business must buy insurance. Nor does it say that BIG business must provide health insurance. Did anyone ever stop to think that PEOPLE can buy their own policies??? Are people actually going to say "I quit because I have to buy my own health insurance"? I doubt it. But it's easy for someone with the obvious limited attention span of clearwaterclearmind to simply accept what the conservative media like Pox News dishes out .
