“A white male, who have traditionally, politically, culturally, socially held the utmost positions of power, wouldn't need to. With that said, we people of color are cognizant and value our ethnicity and related experiences for many reasons. We live in a society that has historically marginalized our voices and invalidated our experiences. I'm not speaking for Sotomayor, but from my own experience as a "minority", as a person for color, I complete under the context of the "wise Latina" comment.

You didn't come here as one - you came as colonialists, with slaves, and displaced the indigenous natives. You came here as a TRIBE and you don't want anyone else in your TRIBE.”
