“I totally agree, Bush was upfront and always silver spoon. Obama has tried to work the voters who have supported him, he has said one thing and done the opposite. It became clear that he was a 1% man when by 2011 there was not one of the Bankers from Wall Street indicted. The financial reform bill was watered down, when all they had to do was enforce existing regulations, and bring the Glass/Steagall Act back into existence. In the end it is Obama's behavior that will be his legacy, at this point it does not look good, with lots of room for improvement. Faved!”
“Folks are not bright, they get sucked into the social issues that both parties fuss about, abortion is the big one. This train car will lumber down the tracks, until we discover there has been a bridge washed out... that is when change will happen.”
“Faved, over the last 30+ years as the Republicans have moved to the right, so have the Democrats. Carter inherited the Nixon mess, high inflation, the economy was a mess. Ford seemed helpless, and that is basically how Carter got elected. Reagan was the beneficiary of Carter's economic policies, but it took well into the end of his first term for the economy to improve, and interest rates to come down.”
“China has been buying farm land for years, food is the new oil. Just look at what has happened in Africa where China and the oil countries from the Middle East have bought up large amounts of farm land. When money is involved political party is of no consequence.”
“This has been going on for years, Obama is no different than Bush who bailed out Wall Street. Take a close look at Congress, they argue about social issues, and do nothing to solve the economic woes of the American voter. All three branches of the federal government have been bought and sold to the highest bidder, it's not what they say, rather it is what they are doing day in and day out.”

“I agree, but there is one huge difference, Bush never tried to convince anyone he wasn't for the big money people. Like what he did or not, at least he did it honestly and up front.”
“You forgot that Congress put the extensions on Obama's desk. Where is the repeal of the Patriot Act? If you look at the Obama Administration's behavior, they have expanded and improved on all the tools they inherited from the Bush Administration, from drone strikes to domestic spying. Like Congress, they hope that folks will forget about all these issues when election time rolls around.”
“Exactly, I remember when the "deregulation" started under Reagan, and got kicked into high gear when Greenspan came on at the fed. We are now paying for the massive flow of money to the top 1%. This lack of regulation can't last forever, in the past here in America, depressions have resulted when those pushing that "free market" get out of control. Faved!”

“I noticed how much press coverage Greenspan got when he stood in front of a senate hearing in 2009 and said "we were wrong about self regulating free market systems".
Now, he has written a book about how they screwed it up and the only person to interview him on his book tour was Charlie Rose.
We really screwed the pooch when we deregulated the media. Turning it around may never happen.”
“The last three mass shootings were the result of mental health issues. The parents of the shooters well knew that their children needed help, and society has paid the price. Out here in the West there are more guns than residents, and gun violence is rare in my area. The issue has more to do with personal responsibility and love for community, than the Constitution. The fight over "open carry" is just another social issue that conservatives are pushing to keep folks distracted as our economy goes down the drain, and the 1% ship their bucks off shore.”
“Better than that would be the requirement that on the age of 18, every student complete two years of public service. We are slowly losing the sense of national identity over the last 40 years of no draft for the military. Considering the amount of funding spent of education, we get the result of our investment.”
“The failure has little to do with "the Democratic Party and its left-wing agendas; the bureaucrats at the Department of Education overwhelmingly hold progressive political and social views" and more to do with lack of funding, and the value placed on education by parents.”
“Faved! You are 100% correct, it would be great to see Feinstein challenged in a primary. She says volumes about the quality of voters in California. She sounded shocked when the Snowden revelations started to appear, and what has she done to make any change to the NSA through new legislation? A true DINO.”
“Foreign purchase of farmland is a big issue, and the Chinese are here and buying, as are the Koreans. Our culture demands that everyone have a house with a yard, we destroy farm land in every state in favor of subdivisions. Over the next generation food will be the new oil.”
“That is not the case, my friend got off at 6 am Thanksgiving morning, and had to be back at 3 pm to work a full shift. He is a full time employee, with full benefits. The working conditions are real poor, however what does one do when the factory closes down and you go from +$30 an hour to a starting wage under $10. Unless the house was paid for he would be in poverty... that is the reality in America.”
“I know folks who work at the mart, low wages, poor management, and talent that is trapped in a lousy job because industry left town. They like part time workers with no benefits.... they are the fast food of the retail world.”
“Your going to have to better than that, the reality is that the mart feels they can gain an increase in market share, that's it, not complicated. From their ivory towers looking down, they fail to realize that there are only so many dollars allocated to shopping for gifts, once it's finished the consumer is spent. For the company that is conservative and likes "family values" it does little in the way of actions to support those values of family togetherness. It's all about the dollar my friend, and using the consumer.”

“"Your going to have to better than that"
No, I am not. I simply look at the figures and use common sense. No business in its right mind would open for business unless there was a profit to be made.
"It's all about the dollar my friend, and using the consumer."
That is the way all for-profit businesses operate.
I stand by what I said before. While people might not like working on Thanksgiving, adjustments can be made pretty easily to accommodate them. My brother works on Christmas every year, so we exchange gifts on another date.”
“In the case of the Mart, best bud lives in a small town, the factory closed and the Mart is all that is left. Take a worker who made 50K a year, and reduce him in half, that is the effect. The worker gets off the Wednesday night shift at 6 Thursday morning, and must be clocked back in by 3 today to work a full shift. That My Friends is greed pure and simple, without any time for a family Thanksgiving Dinner.”

“Blame the consumer. I am sure that if opening today proved to be a financial loss for Wal-Mart, they would not do it.”
“Ron is the brightest one of the tribe, he must have inherited Nancy's intelligence! Faved!”
AntiSocialSailor on Nov 26, 2013 at 18:58:45
“Nancy was no prize in the intelligence department either, what with her belief in astrology. Ron didn't inherit his intelligence from either of them. He cultivated it by keeping his distance from people like them.”
“I well remember when Ronnie's Dad was Governor of California, he was an empty suit and held one opinion, he was never wrong. I would take issue that "People of Faith shaped this nation" as those folks of "faith" believed in Deism, and were products of the Enlightenment. Their thought helped to shape society in Europe as well as the Americas. They were fearful of religious control and participation in the affairs of state, that legacy is being deluded through conservative chatter in media to the determinant of today's political discussion.”
“So True! Faved! My Westie is still at the vets today, he had some rotten teeth, and the house has been empty since this morning.... He is doing OK, and I am just leaving to get him back home. So important and so loyal, a true friend.”
“Best Bud works for one of these companies, he had to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family yesterday. On Thanksgiving morning he gets off at 6 am, and is required to be back the same day at 6 pm for the night shift. No holiday dinner, as one must sleep and get back to work. Pure greed is running the show, and one chip at a time traditional holidays are being lost. Faved!”
