“That's just it. Elite people are well-read and have a wide range of knowledge. Few if any of them would agree with a conservative point of view. Only the generationally wealthy like the Bushes, the Kristols, the Coulters, and the Cheneys and that sort are conservative. They never really had to be smart. They were a success by virtue of their names. NOW THAT'S ELITIST.”

Those "liberal elites" you are referring to have money and are perfectly fine with giving that money to help others. Can you say the same about the other guys?”

Obama was elected for a variety of reasons that came together all at once. It was somewhat unique. Many on the left thought that their life-long dreams of total victory had been acheived and that they could, at long last, remake America in their desired image. The high water mark was election day. It's been downhill ever since. There will be no cosmic remaking of America. The people themselves have intervened and that has frustrated and angered many on the left. The independents who went with Obama (in part to make history by electing the first black president) are turning away toward the right. It will only get tougher for those on the hard left.”

“You're absolutely right, it's much better to simply dismiss it and complain about it WITHOUT actually seeing it (or knowing much about it). Why would anybody actually want to watch something before passing judgment? It makes no sense. You save a lot of time judging things before knowing about them, so I think you're on to something. Ebert is a hack for actually wanting to watch all of those movies before reviewing them, can you imagine how much more content he can write by reading a short blurb and reviewing it?
Look, this movie may not be for you. But not everybody is like you. You can't believe somebody would defend it? Take a look at what the critics say, they aren't as harsh as Marshall Fine. They can defend it because they've seen Lars' work before and know what they are getting themselves into. They can also defend it because they know that they need to actually see a movie before passing judgment.”

“How did it feel for 8 years when Bush "paid back" conservatives that got him elected? Made you and us feel like crap, like we didn't matter. I hope that you aren't suggesting that Pres. Obama should spend the next four years sucking up to the far left. That's what Bush did with the far right. If I'm not mistaken, the far left was Hillary obsessed. They jumped on the Obama train when it was obvious that he was going to be the nominee.”

“The reason why conservatives in America are proclaiming that only liberals get the prize is that they are never exposed to the worldview of the conservative movement. They never turn their televisions from FOX, and everything they tell them is regarded as gospel. I can guarantee you they never watch the BBC, CNN, and God help us MSNBC. I may not watch FOX, but I certainly read their stuff because it helps to know everything that's out there, including baseless propoganda and lies. Reagan was a neo-con who fooled every conservative in America, but no one outside of our borders. Considering we have one of the lowest literacy rates of any industrialized country, I'd say that the worldview of our President is probably more well-informed than the view from Palin's porch.”

“For those of you who think that the people who are having their homes forclosed on deserve it, I'll have you know that those people could actually pay their mortgages if they hadn't been duped. How? If they have a mortgage where their monthly payment is $900.00 a month for three years and they're never late, it stands to reason that if they continued to pay that amount (notwithstanding not being laid off) they could pay off their mortgage. I know for a fact that mortgage companies gave a lot of minorities subprime mortgages who qualified for prime mortgages. They were duped, pure and simple.
BTW, I sometimes wish that all of the people shouting about how people should pay their bills could get laid off for a year and see how well they do with their mortgage and their insurance. The GOP never wants to do anything about anything until it hits home.”

“I don't blame anyone who is attacked for the attack. I believe, however, that a man has rights, too, and that every human being, regardless of their race, gender, religion, socioeconomic status, deserves to be treated with respect. I don't believe she always respected him, either. The culmination of events between two people who are like oil and water together resulted in the violence that ensued.
I'm wondering what could someone's child possibly do to be even slightly blamed for this? Let's assume she came on to him. A normal man would think (rightfully so) that something was wrong with his daughter and get her some help.”
